We’ll see how many people from work watch the 10:00 news. I was just on TV telling the reporter that the House of Representatives just passed one of the greatest travesties in our history.

Hundreds Gather at Tea Party Protest

ATLANTA (MyFOX ATLANTA) - Hundreds of Tea Party supporters rallied in downtown Atlanta Monday night. The Tea Party Express 2 is crossing the country as part of the grassroots conservative movement.

While there've been several Tea Party events held in the Metro Atlanta area in the past several months, many people said Monday's was their first and they came out because they felt it was time to speak out against the federal government.

The national traveling tour drew supporters from across the region.

"I'm very upset with Congress and the way things are going. Our country is so in debt it is ridiculous," said Marie Hendrickson.

A huge crowd of sign waving enthusiasts greeted the caravan of conservative speakers at the state capitol, far outnumbering the handful of people who disagree with the Tea Party supporters.

"They don't represent all of America. We need to stand up for the other side and show these people are angry," said Greg Maye.

Those participating in the Tea Party said they want less government spending, the end to the bailouts, and are lower taxes. Many participants said they were outraged over the recent passage of the House healthcare reform plan.

"The House of Representatives passed one of the greatest travesties in the history of our country," said Tea Party participant John Hughes.

Georgia gubernatorial candidate, Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine was one of the featured speaker's at Monday's event.

Monday's Atlanta stop is part of a national tour spanning 38 cities in three weeks.

Having fun guys and gals? Makes you "feel" good, doesn't it? I know. I've been there and done that. I was on the streets as far back as 1998. Cool signs and bullhorns made me feel like I was making a change. I and many others still couldn't get clinton kicked out of our Oval Office while he was taking bribes from the ChiComs. Felt good, but had NO effect.

Unfortunately, reality has shown that such efforts from the conservative side have been and will continue to be for naught. The Pelosi health-care monstrosity still passed. Now what? You think the Senate is not going to put another bill on the floor of Congress? Can you count on that?

As much as I admire your efforts, your Traveling Salvation TEA Party Show is doing nothing. You just don't get that DC has seen all these demonstrations time and time again. DC IGNORES THEM!!!

Until you are ready to play by the communist Saulisky playbook (Rules For Radicals) and willing to do "sit-ins" and be hauled off to jail for a simple a misdemeanor, you're not going to get their attention. I guarantee it.

Have you all forgotten the lessons of the radicals in the 1960's whose efforts caused us to lose the war in Viet Nam? They fought hard and got beaten and went to jail to further their cause. As much as we may disagree with their position they were highly effective. The US lost a war against communism because of public relations.

Since you probably don't have the cojones to stay some few hours in jail like the liberals/socialists/communists did and do in almost all of their demonstrations, I suggest you give up your TEA Party road trip and support ANY State that is willing to nullify the unConstitutional Fedgov mandates imposed on the Individual States, as written in the US Constitution.

You really want to make a statement? Contact your State Governor and tell him your position. Make sure you also tell him you are voting for any gubernatorial candidate that supports States rights. If your Governor is not up for election, then tell him you will support impeachment.

The TENTH AMENDMENT (10th) TO THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION delegates ALL powers to the States, and the peoples within. Read it. Understand it. It is the LAW of the LAND!

State rights is our last best hope to restore our Republic. If that fails, then all bets are off and there will be blood. NO number of rallies or protests will stop this maxist advance. It hasn't so far, has it? DC is deaf.

"The powers not delegated to the Untited States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Thank you for your condescending, patronizing, insulting and bitter comments. I don't think most people here are immune to the realities of the situation. But if you think getting together in public and supporting our constitution is futile you should try sitting behind your keyboard bitching at the people who do. Oh, wait ...

I think he is asking what is the goal of these road trips, particularly since the leaders of the real Tea Party movement have asked the Tea party Express to not associate this project with them.

I don’t know anyone in the “Tea Party” or “The Tea Party Express.” I’m not on any mailing list, nor ping list, nor do I have any ‘Facebook friends.’ If some group has elevated themselves to the title of “Official Grand Poobah’s of the Tea Parties” I was unaware of it, nor do I have any interest in stepping into some grassroots turf war.

I went to a gathering of conservatives protesting the excesses of our government and supporting our constitution. I met some good people and heard some fine speakers. Our views got a few extra seconds on television and a few extra articles in print. And I can find nothing in what A Navy Vet wrote that seems to ask any of the things you mentioned.

I was there as well - I will have a couple of pictures up in a while. The darkness made it tough to get good shots so I'm going to have to take a little extra time to clean up the later images. It was great to see people come out on a Monday evening. We had around 40 people on a bus from Chattanooga & Cleveland, TN (plus a few we picked up near Dalton, GA). I'd estimate the crowd at around 800-1000 when the show got started. They were packed in pretty tight from the first set of steps up to the statue of Tom Watson (which served as an impromptu stage of sorts).

Really enjoyed some of the entertainment, but I was very happy to see that a good amount of time was spent acknowledging and appreciating the work of our military. As they named the war theatres and asked people to raise their hand, I couldn't help but think of my uncle Harold Summers who served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam.

It was also great to see Kenneth Gladley who, I believe, was the guy that was beaten up by SEIU thugs outside of a town hall meeting back in August.

Hi,

I see you got my sign for JR. I got to meet and shake his hand last evening. He got there late, but I’m glad I waited. I heard Pan Yan on the radio news today at lunch.
I’ll post pictures when I get them and figure it out.
AGR was there when Jim Robb came and some of the 9-12ers.
We saw our next door neighbor there last night also, didn’t
even know that she was a conservative.

I didn't get to see JR. I got too involved in the pictures. Most of the folks on our bus from Chattanooga also went to Washington on 9/12. A couple were also there last week trying to get congress to actually listen.

It's good to see people getting revved up about these issues. Now, we have to turn the enthusiasm into action.

We took our children because we wanted them to have a civics lesson.

Our nine year old daughter thought up her sign on her own. “Put down the taxes.” She is very quick. She knows instinctively that the government should not just take money from the people. She knows this is unfair.

Our twelve year old son is a deeper thinker. On his sign he wrote, “Act like adults so I can be a kid!” He knows that if Congress acts irresponsibly it can harm him.”

When we left the capitol we talked to our son about the Boston tea party and the Tea Party express.

We talked about what American patriots.

We talked about standing up to being heard. We reminded him that in China and North Korea people do not have the right to speak against their goverment.

They were surprised that their father was interviewed by a television reporter. And they enjoyed seeing him on the news.

I think my children will remember going to the capitol last night, meeting many friendly people who enjoyed reading their signs and meeting like-minded people.

I just thought I should give you a more reasoned response than the one I posted last night.

Until you are ready to play by the communist Saulisky playbook (Rules For Radicals) and willing to do "sit-ins" and be hauled off to jail for a simple a misdemeanor, you're not going to get their attention. I guarantee it.

I will never lower myself to play by Alinsky's rules. They are based in hate, deceit and have no honor. If we give up our morals and honor then we put the chains of their slavery on our own wrists.

You really want to make a statement? Contact your State Governor and tell him your position. Make sure you also tell him you are voting for any gubernatorial candidate that supports States rights. If your Governor is not up for election, then tell him you will support impeachment.

We live in one of the most conservative states in the country. We will be electing a new governor next year and one of the candidates was at the Capitol last night. I have been corresponding with my state legislator and senator. I have been discussing the candidates for governor next year with many people. I even work with the brother of one of them. Have you had any luck achieving your tenth amendment goals in California? Have you started impeachment proceedings yet?

You jumped into a thread that you had nothing to do with and started lecturing other conservatives in the most condescending tones. It wasn't a matter that anyone said anything controversial. It wasn't a matter of philosophical differences. You jumped in and started crapping on the actions of others because you didn't think they were sufficiently angry? I am sorry you feel the need to vent your bitterness on others. But if you really want to take your country back I suggest you stop trashing and lecturing the people who are on your side.

Thanks for posting the pictures. I may need to invest in a good camera some day.

It took a lot of work with some of those images - when it got dark, I turned the ISO up to 12,800 so that I could keep adequate shutter speed. I had to do a lot of caressing with the images today to clean some of them up. They get pretty grainy when you operate at that high a setting. Most of these aren't good enough for anything larger than a 4 X 6 or 5 X 7 inch print.

I’m really happy people are doing something, getting ou thtere and making their point but to be honest we need to move to the next level . Tea Parties are great , bring along mom and the kids , fine ..BUT...Things are getting progressively worse regardless of Tea Parties or Town Hall meetings.. Time to leave the kids home and grandma and move to another level of aggression.
I saw extreme rage on here about the Health Care bill passing in Congress ( that nest of whores) . It seems it lasted 2 days . Hardly a mention on FR tonight already.
I guess we all swallowed that one pretty fast .
We can’t wait until 2012 to change things or even NOV 2010. You won’t recognize this country in a year never mind 2012. Cap and Trade and Immigration will closely follow Health Care and get passed too , mark my word. There is a reason Obama is pushing for change at rapid speed.
I hope you don’t think there isn’t a concentrated effort to shut down ALL opposition including FR and Rush and Levin etc.
If we don’t do something REAL SOON we won’t have the chance to anymore.
We need a National Strike , we need boycotts and we need to adopt the VERY VERY successful tactics of the LEFT in order to take this country back .
We need to consolidate the 1000s of conservative groups out there who, alone, don’t get much done , and turn that into a massive movement of like minded patriots fighting under the same umbrella.
I applaud your efforts folks but they get ,at most, a snicker from those in power. Our government it out of control and they have totally ignored WE THE PEOPLE.
We need to step things up BIG TIME. Maybe Harry Reid would be a little more open to suggestions if 10 thousand people showed up at his office and blocked the stairways and sidewalks for a few days on end. Maybe the MSM would be forced to give us headlines if CBS Studios had another 10 thousand or so people out side their windows.
We need leadership , organization and planning on a grand scale or else this country will be a Socialist sh*thole WAY sooner than most can imagine.

I’m very thankful to the “Yans” for coming out and bringing their cute kids. The reason it’s important for you to come out and bring your kids goes beyond teaching them a lesson in American greatness, the presence of your kids makes the hundreds of grandmas in the crowd feel more confident about coming out and protesting anything. Let’s be frank, the people at Tea Parties are also the same ones enjoying the Early Bird Special at the Piccadilly.

Jusduat, Lefty and TunedIn got the opportunity to thank JimRob for his site and the gift to liberty he’s given us for the past decade +.

I understand that some of you think this Tea Party stuff is stale, which in a short amount of time it will be. But (and this is a big one) it’s not just to get the attention of the DC-elites, the Tea Parties are to attract others who are like-minded to stop yelling at FoxNews and get out and network with others. When they show up at a Tea Party, we’re there to get their names and get them engaged. I can’t get to them via one of the 1000s of ridiculous emails floating around about Michele Obama’s wardrobe or by them crying themselves to sleep every night afraid.

So here’s how you can really help me help you:

1. If you have grown kids. Get them engaged. I need them. I need more people under the age of 60 to get involved. They have computer skills and frequent flyer miles their parents don’t have and I need them.

2. Stop thinking that every last detail is to sway the opinion of a congresscritter. It’s not. And neither is it wise to continue this “throw all the bums out” nonsense. Our side is currently underfunded and not as organized. Some of us are working as fast as we can to remedy these issues, but until we’re better organized please save the prison-time suggestions for later. Trust me, at this point it’s people like me they’ll throw in prison - not some guy on an Internet blog who remembers the 60s with disdain.

3. We need to remain positive. I know of one Blue-Dog in particular who voted our way last Saturday because we didn’t threaten to cut off her money or stick our union thugs on her. We need to slap a stinkin’ smile on our faces and keep recruiting, keep debating, and keep positive. If you can’t, then please stay the heck home and keep yelling at your TV.

Oh, and if you want a tax rebellion, then you go first. I hear there will be room at Gitmo soon, so I’m sure you’ll have a great place to stay./sarc

Thanks for that post, AmericanGirlRising.

The Tea Party Movement is NOT just about standing around with signs and writing to our congress "representatives" - it's about getting people together - networking, if you will. Getting together, getting organized, and working towards a common goal.

There's a lot to be done, and there are a lot of people that are willing to participate in some way or another. I put together a list on another thread of ideas that we could carry out to get started on turning this thing around and getting these low-life theives out of our government. My suggestion to others here is to get your own ideas down on paper and get together with like-minded folks in your area to discuss tactics. Maybe a national strike is in order. Maybe just civil disobedience. Maybe a letter-writing campaign. Maybe a shift in financial behavior. Maybe something a little more "sinister".

The Tea Party movement is still getting started, but it does provide some coordination and ability to get those ideas spread around to others around the country. So even if you don't want to actively protest, get involved and get together with like-minded folks that DON'T want to see this country turning into the third-world hellhole that the hard left is trying to make it.

I promise you, you are NOT alone...

The minniya (media) have defined the Tea Party Express as Republicans and Libertarians....the Tea Parties were Dems, Reps, Inds, Libertarians, etc. That said, didn’t believe their (media) liberal pap when I heard it, don’t now, but that doesn’t change the fact that they’ve attempted to ‘divide and conquer’ per Alinsky’s rules.

If I listened to your advice, that would have left me home as well. If I hadn’t taken them with me, I could not have gone to the capitol that night. I wouldn’t have been there.

Why don’t you take your “solutions” elsewhere to another thread instead of tearing this one down? After you’ve gone to Washington and run effection opposition on Harry Reid, come back and report to us on how successful you have been, okay?

On the contrary. Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and those in Congress would not be trying to diminsh the Tea Party people, and the Republicans wouldn't be rushing to embrace it, if they were not scared. And Tea Party people DON'T have to get arrested to make their point. If Michelle Bachmann can call up a rally of 30,000 people from around the country in just 5 days, that is saying something. It may not have been on the news but I'll tell you something, just about every Republican Congress person went running down from Capitol Hill to give their 30 second sound bite at her rally. And you could see the Democrats peeking out the windows. Sure the bill still past after Obama went up and lied and twisted arms, but don't think the Senate didn't notice. And the bill still may past but only at their peril.

Sure the media will try to pretent it doesn't exist. Every dollar that is added to the deficit will just be one more person for the tea party. This is a festering wound that is not going to go away. I would suggest going to one instead of being so grumpy.

And don't let any of the party poopers on the thread get you down. Thank you for being there for those of us not able to do so.

Enough. And I'm willing to sit in a holding cell once again if it will make a difference in the direction of our Country. Are you?

Let me make this as clear as I can. While I admire and appreciate these efforts, they have been and will be for naught. After the huge 9/12 protest in DC, what just passed in the House?

You folks aren't getting it. The DC elite are NOT listening. State nullification is our only way out of this.

BTW, I was on the streets with a bullhorn and signs more than a decade back.

Finally, someone who understands.

Unfortunately, your suggestion of "national strikes" and "boycotts" and "consolidation of 1000's of conservative groups" have been attempted before. It doesn't work, because responsible conservatives have to earn a living; boycotts rarely have any affect; and conservative groups all have their little fiefdoms to oversee. VetsCoR tried to build an alliance with the American Legion, VFW, AMVETS, and others - they couldn't care less.

However, your suggestion of showing up with "thousands" at the local offices when they are home is a worthwhile endeavor. Much better than the demonstrations that the DC elite are use to seeing and ignore.

Building on your suggestion, maybe it's time to protest across or down the street (whatever is legal) of the homes of these unConstitutional elites. Think about that.

Also, think State nullification.

Respectfully

"I would suggest going to one instead of being so grumpy."

LOL! Glad I got back to this thread and read that. Made my morning. It sucks getting older and being a "grump".

Thanks for the suggestion, but I've been on the streets as far as a decade back, and have only watched my Republic slide further into socialism/marxism. I don't think protests are the way out.

I believe State nullification and/or civil disobedience are the only things that are going to get the attention of the DC elite. They are too ingrained in the system. It's all about them and their feel-good crap and their own political survival. We now need a different strategy.

Again, thanks for the laugh.

PS. I ride a 1995 WideGlide and I'm a member of the Patriot Guard Riders. Keep safe.

The bottom pic in post 18 is awesome. All of them are good, but that one stands out.

I met y’all back at the Rally for the Troops around 2002 or so. I was the guy in the black leather jacket.

IMO..to he!! with the posters trying to be negative. I think it’s awesome that y’all bring your kids with you, same as you did at the troops rally. America would be a much better place if more folks did the same with their kids.

I am proud to have y’all as neighbors and fellow countrymen.
