Scozzafava Resigns From Republican Assembly Leadership Post
wwnytv.com ^ | Nov. 9, 2009

Posted on 11/09/2009 7:16:17 PM PST by Free ThinkerNY

North country Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava has resigned from her leadership position in the state Assembly.

In a prepared statement, Republican Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb said he accepted her resignation as Minority Leader Pro Tempore.

Just before last week's election, Scozzafava dropped out of the Congressional race and backed the Democrat, Bill Owens, who went on to win.

Scozzafava met Monday to discuss her actions.

Many have argued that Scozzafava's last-minute endorsement of Owens gave him the Congressional win.

“Today, I had a thorough and frank discussion with Assemblywoman Scozzafava. As a result, Dede has tendered, and I accepted, her resignation as our Conference’s Leader Pro Tempore. Over the coming weeks, I will be assessing who will serve as our Conference’s next Leader Pro Tempore to lead our Assembly floor debates,” Kolb said in his statement.

Oh, the huge manatee!

How will the Republican Party ever recover from this devastating loss?

I would think that she is on the executive committee of the republican party in her district. I would also think it would be against the rules for an exec committee member to endorse a member of the democratic party. She should have been unceremoniously booted in her axe handle backside.

I think it was more of a forced resignation. There was a thread last week, someone calling for her to be ousted.

"A man stands alone at the plate. This is the time for what? For individual achievement. There he stands alone. But in the field, what? Part of a team. Teamwork... Looks, throws, catches, hustles. Part of one big team. Bats himself the live-long day, Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, and so on. If his team don't field... what is he? You follow me? No one.

I think it was more of a forced resignation.

Yeah, but they should have fired her and held a press conference announcing that they threw her out because she is a cheat who cheated the people who voted her and it was a shame that she was clinging on to her position.

It should be pointed out that her endorsed candidate broke 4 campaign promises within one hour of taking office.

I wonder if she has any regrets at having supported such a slimy reprobate.

Yeah, I didn’t think so.

Me thinks she was given an offer she could not refuse.

I suspect she got the same offer as lots of people. "Resign or we will fire you."

I'm for billing her for the 900K she allowed the GOP to spend on her. This woman is a disgrace, the equivalent of a corporation director shorting the company's stock.

If the leadership of the GOP had a spine, they would have gone after her already for the 90K.

We’ve got to put people in the parties leadership that will not tolerate these types of actions.

Too bad no one got to give her a swift kick in the caboose. Likely because of sure injury kicking such a massive object would be cause to deny health insurance and possibly to cause institutionalization for insanity. The sane thing wold be to hit this HUGE RINO on the rear with a train or a big product out of CAT.

She'll probably go the Specter route and announce it when it becomes obvious she'll have stiff primary competition. A GOP with any balls would deny her the satisfaction and boot her ass out now.
