Obama willing to go to Copenhagen for climate deal
By: Associated Press
Monday, Nov. 9, 2009

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama said Monday that he’d be willing to attend an international climate summit in Copenhagen next month if it appears a deal is in the offing and his presence there would help clinch it.

Nations are preparing to meet in Denmark to hammer out a new international treaty to slow climate change, but the talks have been hampered by disputes between rich countries and developing ones.

“If I am confident that all of the countries involved are bargaining in good faith and we are on the brink of a meaningful agreement and my presence in Copenhagen will make a difference in tipping us over the edge, then certainly that’s something that I will do,” Obama said in an interview with Reuters.

It was Obama’s strongest statement to date that he may attend the Dec. 7-18 U.N. conference. White House officials previously have declined to say whether Obama would attend the summit.

In the interview, previewing his trip to Asia that begins Thursday, the president said he expected to sign a new nuclear arms reduction pact with Russia by December. He also rejected criticism that he’s too soft on human rights issues in his dealings with China.

“I don’t find the critics credible,” Obama said. “If you look at my statements, they have been entirely consistent. We believe in the values of freedom of speech, freedom of press, freedom of religion that are not just core America values but we believe are universal values.”

Obama has been criticized for delaying a meeting with the Dalai Lama, the exiled Tibetan Buddhist spiritual leader, until after he meets with Chinese President Hu Jintao during the Asia trip.

Too funny, actually NOT....his “statements” are consistently lies.

No, Mr. President. In America these aren't values, they're RIGHTS! It's not the Bill of Values, it's the Bill of Rights!

I thought only really lunatic lefties put Global Warming on par with the struggle that was the Cold War. By going to Copenhagen rather than Berlin, Obama has confirmed his status as a true ignoramus of history and a complete tinfoil-hatted buffoon.

About the same time that I'd be willing to piss on an electric fence with my hand in a galvanized tub of water.

Does Zer0 know where Fort Hood is? Where the Hell has he been, versus flying in tomorrow to “lay some flowers”. What a total failure in leadership of our country. What a total jerk, and that is using a very nice word choice to avoid getting bumped. Zer0 is a shame to our wonderful country.

Libloather,

Two news releases came out today that the Copenhagen deal is off for a year.

That said, this is still in Hillary’s hands. Her staff and Ambassadors should still be working through this.

That said, why would he go now except make good on the Nobel Peace Prize? What ego purpose would be served? Who is he downsizing? Hillary?

But, that said, we kinda get an insight into the White House. There appears to be the heavy hand which means when the President perceives his staff as weak the president is more involved. There are signs of micro-management. Micro-management is crisis or ego driven.

More involved Presidents and lack of delegation leads to worldwide mistakes and worldwide impressions. That means the chief in staff won’t last long and will remain awhile for good looks.

BO started the name calling, pigeon holing, and categorizing of fellow Americans whom oppose him. That reflects the rookie and the immaturity level on the White House.

I think I will hang some tea bags on my rear view Mirror.

He talks of sending more troops to Afghanistan, but is it just the normal rotation of troops? Send in 30K and take out ????

What is the true number? Are we building up or drawing down? What type of unit is going IN? And what is coming OUT?

As I said the other day, we are entering a 30-year down time. I no long take the U.S. Media at face value. They don’t ask the tough questions.

Isn’t Copenhagen one of those places where you can legally dope it up to your heart’s content?

If so, why ask why?

My dad once whizzed on an electric fence, as a kid.
[without benefit of water bucket, I might add and I didn’t even know they *had* electricity way back then]

Never could figure out why he presented that “cautionary tale” to me, seeing as I’m a girl and all.

[and I can’t imagine trying to sit down and pee on an electric fence....where would I put my purse?]

What most seem to forget is that Obama declared a NATIONAL emergency a few days back over H1N1. Can anyone tell me what happens to the Constitution in a NATIONAL emergency, & what organization is in control from the declaration of said emergency on?
Now, in this case, the Senate can do nothing about it for 6 months.
One might do well to look up all the executive orders having to do with National emergency & FEMA.
Yes, Virginia, FEMA will be “god”, & kiss the Constitution goodbye.

John,

A national emergency means they can pass an emergency bill full of pork to finance this need and in our present situation that means the printing presses are printing worthless paper, but as long as it stays in country it has value.

If the President declared Marshal Law, considering what we talk about we would have to behave ourselves. The Blog site would tighten up the rules.

It would take a massive cause to push us to Marshal Law such as Clear and Present Danger.

People would take to holding secret meetings in caves or outside places where satellites can’t see them and continually cover their tracks and park miles away, pedal in, etc.

Use of walkie talkies kept to 15 to 20 second special coded messages.

Those with wealth would pay to leave and those that don’t would be “boat people” either north or south.

Other option is moved to a minimum secure area like a farm community. The National Guard would focus on transportation routes, assisting police and the borders. This would free the Army and Reserves to focus on other threats.

Borders would be shut down, however late. There would be curfews.

There would be a draft.

There would be rationing.

Once a target is decided, they would need God’s help to survive.

Sincerely,
