TOKYO President Barack Obama says he wants to visit Hiroshima and Nagasaki sometime during his presidency but won't have time during this week's trip to Japan to go to the cities devastated by U.S. atomic bombs at the end of World War II. No sitting U.S. president has visited the two cities largely because of the controversy it could raise at home. In an interview with Japanese broadcaster NHK that ran Tuesday, Obama said he would be unable to visit the cities on his trip to Japan this weekend due to time constraints but would be willing to do so in the future. "The memories of Hiroshima and Nagasaki are etched in the minds of the world and I would be honored to have the opportunity to visit those cities at some point during my presidency," Obama said in the interview, done Monday at the White House. Calls have grown in Japan for Obama to visit the two cities since his April speech in Prague envisioning a nuclear-free world and since he was named Nobel Peace Prize winner last month.

he has an overwhelming need to apologize?
More apologies?
Of course he will visit these cities. It will give him more opportunities to trash our country and make apologies on our behalf for nuking the japanese.
I can’t believe that it took 1 minute and 32 seconds for one of us to post that.
We are losing our touch here at FR!
Yes, so that he can apologize for our genocide of an innocent people.
Barack Obama is never happier than when he is apologizing for something America has done in the past. Obama was AWOL at the celebration of the removal of the Berlin Wall, but count him IN for an appearance at Hiroshima, where he look morally superior to those who decided to use the Atom Bomb to end World War II.
Jeremiah Wright was also a vocal opponent of using nuclear weapons in Japan, and Obama gave the radical reverend an appreciative “shout-out” on the subject in his autobiography, The Audacity of Hope.
If he keeps pussyfooting with Iran and NK, he may very well experience Hiroshima redux at first hand, without ever having to leave home.....
I’m waiting for his apology to Lucifer for all those Judeo-Christian values & morals that America was founded on.
Dear Barruh, please remember this—if there had been no Pearl Harbor, there would have been no Hiroshima.
Another apology tour.......
typing ‘finger ‘ is not awake yet, slows me down ;)
...preferably while a crucial vote is taking place in the halls of government. The POSIC is annoyed he's obligated to "heal" the nation today before his junket to Japan.
“Obama will create a nuclear-free world”
I want to see him walk on the water first, then I will believe he can create a nuclear-free world.
Sadly, he has bamboozled the American people and American News Media.
If Obama was Pres_ _ent during Pearl Harbor,
those left today would speak Japanese.
“No sitting U.S. president has visited the two cities largely because of the controversy it could raise at home. “
Give Obama some time. He’ll get to it. A man can only deliver so many apologies at any one time.
I will wager he’ll visit there first before calling Major Malik Hasan a cowardly killer and traitor.
Obama will begin by apologizing for starting the A-bomb program, building the Enola Gay, in fact the entire B-29 bomber assembly line, and demanding that the descendants of Paul Tibbets begin with restitution of the victims.
The Apologia President continues.
Ping.
too bad he couldn’t have visited it in the past...by about 64 years

It’s bad enough that he will apologize for our winning the war, but he will also find a way to give away $billions of freshly printed money.
the appology tour con-tin-ues.....(use Imus voice)
A perfect place for him to continue his ‘why I hate America and you should, too’ campaign.
Why am I not surprised...
At about 1.00pm on 14 February Japanese soldiers advanced towards the Alexandra Barracks Hospital.[12] A British lieutenant, acting as an envoy with a white flag, approached the Japanese forces but was bayoneted and killed.[13] After the Japanese troops entered the hospital, a number of patients, including those undergoing surgery at the time, were killed along with doctors and members of nursing staff.[14] The following day about 200 male staff members and patients who had been assembled and bound the previous day, [15] many of them walking wounded, were ordered to walk about 400 metres to an industrial area. Anyone who fell on the way was bayoneted. The men were forced into a series of small, badly ventilated rooms and were imprisoned overnight without water. Some died during the night as a result of their treatment.[16] The remainder were bayoneted the following morning;[17] there were only five survivors. Here's another, concerning the vivisection of American POW's in Japan:
Teddy Ponczka was the first to be handed over to the doctors and their assistants. He had already been stabbed, in either his right shoulder or his chest. According to Tono, the American assumed he was about to be treated for the wound when he was taken to an operating room.A massacre of Australian nurses:But the incision went far deeper. A doctor wanted to test surgery's effects on the respiratory system, so one lung was removed. The wound was stitched closed.
How Teddy Ponczka died is in dispute. According to U.S. military records, he was anesthetized during the operation, and then the gas mask was removed from his face. A surgeon, Taro Torisu, reopened the incision and reached into Ponczka's chest. In the bland words of the military report, Torisu "stopped the heart action."
Tono remembers events differently. The first experiment was followed by a second, he says. Ponczka was given intravenous injections of sea water, to determine if sea water could be used as a substitute for sterile saline solution, used to increase blood volume in the wounded or those in'shock. Tono held the bottle of sea water. He says Ponczka bled to death.
Then it was the turn of the others.
The Japanese wanted to learn whether a patient could survive the partial loss of his liver. They wanted to learn if epilepsy could be controlled by removing part of the brain. According to U.S. military records, physicians also operated on -the prisoners' stomachs and necks.
All the Americans died.
The Bangka Island massacre took place on 16 February 1942, when Japanese soldiers machine gunned 22 Australian military nurses. There was only one survivor. The massacre of Manila:On 12 February 1942, the merchant ship Vyner Brooke left Singapore just before the city fell to the Imperial Japanese Army. The ship contained many injured service personnel and 64 Australian nurses of the 2/13th Australian General Hospital. The ship was shelled and sunk by the Japanese. Two nurses were killed in the bombing, nine were last seen drifting away from the ship on a raft and were never heard from again, and the rest reached shore at Bangka Island, in the Dutch East Indies (Indonesia).
These nurses joined up with a group of men and injured personnel from the ship. Once it was discovered that the Island was held by the Japanese, an officer went to surrender the group to the authorities in Muntok. A small group of women and children headed off after him. The Australian nurses stayed to care for the wounded. They set up a shelter with a large Red Cross sign on it.
Shortly afterwards, ten Japanese soldiers led by an officer appeared. They ordered all the wounded capable of walking to travel around a headland, where they were shot and bayonetted. The soldiers returned and ordered the remaining twenty two nurses to walk into the surf. A machine gun was set up on the beach and when the women were waist deep, they were machine-gunned. All but Sister Lt Vivian Bullwinkel were killed.
Shot in the diaphragm, Bullwinkel was unconscious when she washed up on the beach and was left for dead. She evaded capture for ten days, but was eventually caught and imprisoned. She survived the war and gave evidence of the massacre at a war crimes trial in Tokyo in 1947.[1]
The Manila massacre refers to the February 1945 atrocities conducted against Filipino civilians in Manila, Philippines by Japanese troops during World War II.And last, but not least, the Nanking Massacre:To avoid needless violence and civilian deaths, and also to preserve as large a force as possible to continue defensive operations in rural Luzon, Imperial Japanese Army General Tomoyuki Yamashita had ordered a complete withdrawal of Japanese troops from Manila. However, 10,000 marines under Vice Admiral Sanji Iwabuchi disobeyed Yamashita's orders and remained in Manila along with some IJA stragglers.
Various credible Western and Eastern sources agree that the death toll was at least 100,000.[1] The massacre was at its worst in the Battle of Manila. During lulls in the battle for control of the city, Japanese troops took out their anger and frustration on the civilians caught in the crossfire. Japanese troops looted and burned, and brutally executed, decapitated and abused women, men and children alike, including priests, Red Cross personnel, prisoners of war and hospital patients.
The Manila massacre was one of the several major war crimes committed by the Imperial Japanese Army, as judged by the postwar military tribunal. Although General Yamashita had ordered all Japanese forces under his command to withdraw from Manila, and had no control over those who chose to disobey his orders, he was nonetheless judged to be responsible and executed. This decision is controversial even today. (See the entry on Tomoyuki Yamashita for details.)
Eyewitness accounts of Westerners and Chinese present at Nanking in the weeks after the fall of the city state that over the course of six weeks following the fall of Nanking, Japanese troops engaged in rape, murder, theft, arson, and other war crimes. Some of these accounts came from foreigners who opted to stay behind in order to protect Chinese civilians from harm, including the diaries of German John Rabe and American Minnie Vautrin. Other accounts include first-person testimonies of the Nanking Massacre survivors, eyewitness reports of journalists (both Western and Japanese), as well as the field diaries of military personnel. An American missionary, John Magee, stayed behind to provide a 16 mm film documentary and first-hand photographs of the Nanking Massacre. The list of major WWII Japanese atrocities is so long that the above are only some of the more egregious examples.A group of foreign expatriates headed by John Rabe had formed the 15-man International Committee on November 22 and mapped out the Nanking Safety Zone in order to safeguard civilians in the city, where the population numbered from 200,000 to 250,000. Rabe and American missionary Lewis S. C. Smythe, secretary of the International Committee and a professor of sociology at the University of Nanking, recorded the actions of the Japanese troops and filed complaints to the Japanese embassy. [edit] Rape
Woman killed by Japanese army in Nanking[31]
The International Military Tribunal for the Far East estimated that 20,000 women were raped, including infants and the elderly.[32] A large portion of these rapes were systematized in a process where soldiers would search door-to-door for young girls, with many women taken captive and gang raped.[33] The women were often killed immediately after the rape, often through explicit mutilation[34] or by stabbing a bayonet, long stick of bamboo[35], or other objects into the vagina.
On 19 December 1937, Reverend James M. McCallum wrote in his diary :
"I know not where to end. Never I have heard or read such brutality. Rape! Rape! Rape! We estimate at least 1,000 cases a night, and many by day. In case of resistance or anything that seems like disapproval, there is a bayonet stab or a bullet... People are hysterical... Women are being carried off every morning, afternoon and evening. The whole Japanese army seems to be free to go and come as it pleases, and to do whatever it pleases." [36]
On March 7, 1938, Robert O. Wilson, a surgeon at the American-administered University Hospital in the Safety Zone, wrote in a letter to his family, "a conservative estimate of people slaughtered in cold blood is somewhere about 100,000, including of course thousands of soldiers that had thrown down their arms".[37]
Here are two excerpts from his letters of 15 and 18 December 1937 to his family :
"The slaughter of civilians is appalling. I could go on for pages telling of cases of rape and brutality almost beyond belief. Two bayoneted corpses are the only survivors of seven street cleaners who were sitting in their headquarters when Japanese soldiers came in without warning or reason and killed five of their number and wounded the two that found their way to the hospital."
"Let me recount some instances occurring in the last two days. Last night the house of one of the Chinese staff members of the university was broken into and two of the women, his relatives, were raped. Two girls, about 16, were raped to death in one of the refugee camps. In the University Middle School where there are 8,000 people the Japs came in ten times last night, over the wall, stole food, clothing, and raped until they were satisfied. They bayoneted one little boy of eight who have [sic] five bayonet wounds including one that penetrated his stomach, a portion of omentum was outside the abdomen. I think he will live."[38]
In his diary kept during the aggression to the city and its occupation by the Imperial Japanese Army, the leader of the Safety Zone, John Rabe, wrote many comments about Japanese atrocities. For the 17th December:
"Two Japanese soldiers have climbed over the garden wall and are about to break into our house. When I appear they give the excuse that they saw two Chinese soldiers climb over the wall. When I show them my party badge, they return the same way. In one of the houses in the narrow street behind my garden wall, a woman was raped, and then wounded in the neck with a bayonet. I managed to get an ambulance so we can take her to Kulou Hospital. (...) Last night up to 1,000 women and girls are said to have been raped, about 100 girls at Ginling College Girls alone. You hear nothing but rape. If husbands or brothers intervene, they're shot. What you hear and see on all sides is the brutality and bestiality of the Japanese soldiers."[39]
There are also accounts of Japanese troops forcing families to commit acts of incest.[40] Sons were forced to rape their mothers, fathers were forced to rape daughters. One pregnant woman who was gang-raped by Japanese soldiers gave birth only a few hours later; although the baby appeared to be physically unharmed (Robert B. Edgerton, Warriors of the Rising Sun). Monks who had declared a life of celibacy were also forced to rape women. [edit] Murder of civilians
On 13 December 1937, John Rabe wrote in his diary :
"It is not until we tour the city that we learn the extent of destruction. We come across corpses every 100 to 200 yards. The bodies of civilians that I examined had bullet holes in their backs. These people had presumably been fleeing and were shot from behind. The Japanese march through the city in groups of ten to twenty soldiers and loot the shops (...) I watched with my own eyes as they looted the café of our German baker Herr Kiessling. Hempel's hotel was broken into as well, as almost every shop on Chung Shang and Taiping Road." [41]
On 10 February 1938, Legation Secretary of the German Embassy, Rosen, wrote to his Foreign Ministry about a film made in December by Reverend John Magee to recommend its purchase. Here is an excerpt from his letter and a description of some of its shots, kept in the Political Archives of the Foreign Ministry in Berlin.
"During the Japanese reign of terror in Nanking - which, by the way, continues to this day to a considerable degree - the Reverend John Magee, a member of the American Episcopal Church Mission who has been here for almost a quarter of a centuty, took motion pictures that eloquently bear witness to the atrocities committed by the Japanese. (....) One will have to wait and see whether the highest officers in the Japanese army succeed, as they have indicated, in stopping the activities of their troops, which continue even today(...)"[42]
"On December 13, about 30 soldiers came to a Chinese house at #5 Hsing Lu Koo in the southeastern part of Nanking, and demanded entrance. The door was open by the landlord, a Mohammedan named Ha. They killed him immediately with a revolver and also Mrs. Ha, who knelt before them after Ha's death, begging them not to kill anyone else. Mrs. Ha asked them why they killed her husband and they shot her dead. Mrs. Hsia was dragged out from under a table in the guest hall where she had tried to hide with her 1 year old baby. After being stripped and raped by one or more men, she was bayoneted in the chest, and then had a bottle thrust into her vagina. The baby was killed with a bayonet. Some soldiers then went to the next room, where Mrs. Hsia's parents, aged 76 and 74, and her two daughters aged 16 and 14. They were about to rape the girls when the grandmother tried to protect them. The soldiers killed her with a revolver. The grandfather grasped the body of his wife and was killed. The two girls were then stripped, the elder being raped by 2-3 men, and the younger by 3. The older girl was stabbed afterwards and a cane was rammed in her vagina. The younger girl was bayoneted also but was spared the horrible treatment that had been meted out to her sister and mother. The soldiers then bayoneted another sister of between 7-8, who was also in the room. The last murders in the house were of Ha's two children, aged 4 and 2 respectively. The older was bayoneted and the younger split down through the head with a sword. (...)"[43]
Pregnant women were a target of murder, as they would often be bayoneted in the stomach, sometimes after rape. Tang Junshan, survivor and witness to one of the Japanese armys systematic mass killings, testified:
"The seventh and last person in the first row was a pregnant woman. The soldier thought he might as well rape her before killing her, so he pulled her out of the group to a spot about ten meters away. As he was trying to rape her, the woman resisted fiercely...The soldier abruptly stabbed her in the belly with a bayonet. She gave a final scream as her intestines spilled out. Then the soldier stabbed the fetus, with its umbilical cord clearly visible, and tossed it aside."[44]
Thousands were led away and mass-executed in an excavation known as the "Ten-Thousand-Corpse Ditch", a trench measuring about 300m long and 5m wide. Since records were not kept, estimates regarding the number of victims buried in the ditch range from 4,000 to 20,000. However, most scholars and historians consider the number to be more than 12,000 victims.[45]
The Japanese officers turned the act of murder into sport. They would set out to kill a certain number of Chinese before the other. Young men would also be used for bayonet training. Their limbs would be restrained or they would be tied to a post while the Japanese soldiers took turns plunging their bayonets into the victims' bodies.[citation needed]
APOLOGY ALERT!! VACATION/APOLOGY ALERT!!
Visiting the sites will afford the cowardly ghetto pig the opportunity to piss on the graves of WW II vets.
Is Zero going to visit Pearl Harbor?
Oh good! Another apology tour! s/
This jacka$$ never fails to give me another reason to make me sick, everyday.
Oh man, don’t ya know this marxist p.o.s. will apologize his ass off for the U.S. saving American G.I.’s lives by stopping the war with these two bombs.
1: No Pearl Harbor, no Hiroshima,
2: Japan should apologize first for its offenses.
And then will come the apologies.
BINGO!!!!!!11
Obama was born in Hawaii.....Remember De planes....He’s insane.
More likely he'll announce the complete and total dismantling of the USA's nuclear forces. I wouldn't at all put it past this Marxist creep to do exactly that......
Ping.
Any one have a time machine that goes back in time?
Yet go to Japan, and to this day none of that is taught to their students.
That’s what I was thinking, He’ll apologize for our winning WWll, Bataan Death March not withstanding.......
When to we throw this turd out?
I'd settle for an end to over six decades of whining over Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The Japanese think they were the greatest victims of the Pacific War. They lost perhaps 2m dead. The rest of Asia lost over 10m. Uncle Sam lost 100K dead, including tens of thousands of POW's starved and tortured to death. (The unlucky ones were killed via vivisection for scientific purposes - like frogs). They have no right to complain.
Of course he could not make the Berlin Wall celebration but this he can do. Any chance to run down the country he takes. Frankly, it is too bad he was not visiting either of these cities back in August 1945.
Not to mention Japanese lives, estimated 10-20 million Japanese killed in the Russian invasion and political murders to follow, along with the communist enslavement that would have followed.
What’s even sadder is that they were so easily bamboozled....
“They have no right to complain.”
Bingo.
It’s easy to look back as victors and say maybe the hand was too hard, but when your existance is threatened, ...is it our fault that we had a shotgun, or that they broke into the house?
No. He’ll apologize to muhamad for that.
Technically, an apologia is a formal defense or justification...Obama is anything but an American apologist.
IT'S OFFICIAL!!!BARACK HUSSIEN OBAMA IS THE WORST PRESIDENT IN THE HISTORY OF THE WOORRRRLLLLLDDDDD!!!!!
