HuffPo Ponders Separate NY Times Bestsellers List for 'Conservative Blockbusters'
NewsBusters ^ | November 10, 2009 | Jeff Poor

According to The Huffington Post, Michelle Malkin, Mark Levin, Glenn Beck and other right-of-center stars that regularly dominate the New York Times Hardcover Non-Fiction Bestsellers List are - or should be - in a league of their own.

No, that isn't Arianna Huffington's blog heaping praise on conservative authors. It's a literal suggestion. With right-leaning books and authors holding so many spots on the list, and more to come - former Sarah Palin, former Dick Cheney and President George W. Bush all have books due out -Huffington Post suggests conservatives should have their own category to differentiate from other works of non-fiction.

In a Nov. 9 entry on The Huffington Post that laments Fox News host Glenn Beck pulling a feat not done before - holding the number one spot on The New York Times' four lists: hardcover fiction, hardcover non-fiction, paperback non-fiction and children's - they suggest a separate category altogether, not for political non-fiction, but conservative non-fiction.

Isn't one of the Alinsky rules that never made it in his book -- if you can't win, just change the rules?

Like when Motor Trend used to have their “Domestic Car of the Year” because domestic cars could never win a “Car of the Year” award.

So now they slit and conquer and change the rules, pure Alinsky.

Suits me. It sounds good so I won’t have to look at any lib books or is that the idea in reverse.

It’s only fair since we conservatives just do what we’re told. We’re not independent free thinkers like the Huff Pos.

Ther already is a list for conservative blockbusters - the main non-fiction list. it’s not the conservatives’ fault that no one wants to read the libs’ books.

I don't understand the problem as most of the ‘Libs’ books have an advantage of being able to compete in multiple catogories including nonfiction and fantasy, which conseverative books can not!

Not sure if that’s an Alinsky rule.

It really doesn’t have to be.

It’s a core aspect of liberal ideology.

Maybe we can have a all White NBA that would be as popular as the WNBA????

Personally I am so very excited about the Japanese-American Football League.

Why not allow everyone to complete for book sales, Huffinton Post, Tear down this wall.....

This story reminds me. Even Fox seems to have Hussein-all-the-time.

Shouldn't he be exclusively on a TV channel to cover his propaganda, lies, shopping trips and schmoozing with his betters world wide?

I suggest the Gay channel.

Yes that's exactly what it's all about.

Has anyone ever heard Mark Lloyd, the FCC Diversity Czar speak about diversity in talk radio?

What an idiot. What a buffoon. It isn't enough that Mario Cuomo, Alan Dershowitz, and many other liberals were given national shows on talk radio and failed. It isn't enough that Air America failed. He wants to to put liberals on stations that have successful conservatives on the air. This is even when people don't listen to them. No that's not good enough for Lloyd. He thinks people like himself should decide what's said on talk radio, not the market.

Mark Lloyd is a dangerous man and his boss is even more dangerous.

Not sure if that’s an Alinsky rule.

But this story does meet the criterion for Alinsky Ruls Number One: Pick a target, freeze it, polarize it. Isolating conservatives in their own separate ghetto would be a perfect example of this.

Aren’t the liberals against discrimination?

As I'm sure you know, libs are only opposed to certain kinds of discrimination. They consider other kinds to be acceptable or commendable, but they would argue that they're not really discrimination. Affirmative action is the obvious example.

Actually, someone put that very comment on Huff Post itself!

I read thru all the almost 300 postings on the thread. Boils down to:

Conservatives are stupid.

Conservatives can't read.

Conservatives are evil.

Glenn beck is stupid.

Glenn Beck can't write.

Glenn Beck is evil.

Conservative bestsellers are actually bought in bulk by Rupert Murdoch and the Republican Party in order to claim they're bestsellers (this was repeated ad nausea throughout the thread).

Republicans are stupid.

Republicans can't read.

Republicans are evil.

Sarah Palin can't possibly have a best seller because she is stupid, can't control her daughter's lusts, can see Russia from her house and besides, her books are being bought in bulk by Dick Cheney's evil oil and military-industrial complex CEO buddies!

Glenn Beck is nothing, no one is afraid of him and the White House yawns whenever his name is mentioned.

And one other overarching theme: Liberals--themselves (of course)--are smart people! Conservatives are stuupid!

All the lib books have the "Hate America", "Gay is Good", or some far out conspiracy theory theme. Even the libs get tired of hearing it so often.

Well, it is a bit unfair, considering that so few liberals can read. Maybe they need a category for liberal videos. TV is about the correct level of comprehension for liberals. That’s why so many shows are liberal. It’s the semi-literate’s natural habitat.

Liberals don’t believe in reality and thus they not only tend to read fiction, they actually LIVE fiction where all is fluffy bunnies and agreement with THEM. Most liberals buy books based on how the spines will look in their bookcases as decor, or, how the titles will impress others. One big difference between Liberals and Conservatives is that LIberals care more than anything else what others think about them.
