The Mayor of Chicago, whose our city is dealing day in and day out with violent crime, and not long ago lost the 2016 summer olympics bid, says that the recent Fort Hood masacre is to be blamed on guns.

Does the Mayor honestly believe that a civilian ban on guns would have stopped this crazy Jihadist. Does the Mayor honestly think that a ban on possession would stop AQ from instructing and recruiting extremists to their cause in this country? It hasn’t stopped the drug lords from tearing up his city.

Yep. And a usually missed fact about the American Japanese internments was that they also protected the American Japanese from violent non-Japanese citizens. It was as much for their own protection from an angry public. I've been told this by people who were there.

Personally, I think the Ft. Hood Massacre is more significant than 911.

Right now, any American military personnel serving anywhere, whether on U.S. soil or overseas, is in an enemy zone. Hasan was BLATANT. He was IDENTIFIED. He was a friggin' NEON LIGHT.

And the official powers-that-be still gave him the benefit of the doubt. Now 13 are dead and 30 wounded, correct? And they continue to extend the benefit of the doubt. Gen. Casey and Obama have made it crystal clear that "diversity" and political correctness will continue to take priority over the lives of military personnel.

The Mayor is a complete and utter fool who has turned a major metropolitan city over to murdering gangs of thugs. Hasan, the Terrorist, smuggled weapons on base to carry out his pre-meditated jihad. He knew his targets would be unarmed and easy prey. As stomach turning as the numbers are, 13 dead and 30 wounded, the nightmare could have been even worse had he not been brought down by an armed civilian first responder. Moreover, had the soldiers been armed he might never have gotten off that first shot.

I think it somewhat poetic that it was a woman, a small, blonde,all-American woman who brought his massacre to an end. I hope he know that and I hope he chokes on it.

I love delta blues too, and actually most of the best Chicago blues men were from the delta (Howlin’ Wolf, Elmore James etc.) The south is definitely more my style, and I’ve got pleasant memories of Memphis from my USN school days in Millington (71). I do like the Chicago ‘sound.’

Gun control laws really worked to prevent this atrocity, huh? The killer ignored them and took advantage of the fact that the law abiding heeded them.

How dense does one have to be not to see that responsibility lies with the person and not the weapon; therefore, laws should be written to protect the law abiding rather than to aid the law breaker?

I love Chicago - been there many many times. Relatives there on the Gold Coast. Always looked forward to going, had fun, nice place, etc. My cousin called recently to see when I’ll be visiting and couldn’t tell her that I have no desire to go. I find it strange how my desire just left when it was so strong for nearly 30+ years and how happy I was when they didn’t get the Olympics! It was my home away from home.
