San Rafael -- Al Gore and his crusade against global warming landed in the Bay Area this week with a call to arms and a message for those who still think the former vice president is tilting at windmills.
The solution to climate change includes windmills, along with solar and geothermal energy, Gore told The Chronicle in an interview Monday. He also defended himself against attacks by critics who accuse him of pushing the green agenda so that he can personally benefit from investments he has made in green technology.
"I have made some investments in the last few years that are in keeping with my beliefs and values. Were I not to do so, these same people would call me a hypocrite," Gore said. "I have delivered the same message for more than 30 years and now I'm in a position to put at least some of my money where my mouth is."
Renewable energy, he said, is the key to America's prosperity and security.
...
Gore urged the remaining skeptics of man-made global warming to at least support the effort to build the economy, create new jobs and reduce dependence on foreign oil by installing solar, wind and geothermal power and build an electrical grid to support the new technology.
But Gore said the problem is less with global warming deniers than it is with those who deliberately fuel skepticism for political purposes, when they know better.
"We have to rise above the political squabbling about this," he said. "It shouldn't be partisan and, as I say, it shouldn't even be a political issue. We all have the same stake in this. We all have a moral obligation to our kids and to ourselves, too, because it is beginning to unfold now."

when they know better? What the hell is he talking about? I’m sure there must be a formal name for this kind of spin, but I’m seeing it more and more with these idiots. It’s like they’re smiling while they’re lying. What’s it called?
......and....it MAKES MY BLOOD BOIL!!
The energy needs of America will NOT be provided by ignoring Nuclear Power and telling fairy tales about the potential of wind and solar power.
Al Gore will not tell us how many square miles of solar panels are required to power 100,000 homes.
He will not tell us how or where the energy will be stored for use during cloud cover or darkness.
Al Gore has no answers to similar questions for wind power.
He will not tell us how or where the energy will be stored for use during periods of low or no wind.
Al Gore will not discuss the line loss associated with transmitting power from these very inefficient sources to the population centers that need them.
Al Gore is among the hypocrites supporting the closure of the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste disposal site, because non-carbon emitting nuclear energy doesnt fit into the true anti-industrial objectives of his plan.
When will somebody force Al Gore to answer the following questions;
Why do you insist on pushing the phony arguments that pretend mankind is causing global warming?
If you really believe it, why wont you debate experts with contrary data?
Arent you really attempting to concoct a legacy by overstating the case for a clean environment, and using that enterprise to impose a socialist agenda?
>>”We have to rise above the political squabbling about this,” he said. “It shouldn’t be partisan and, as I say, it shouldn’t even be a political issue.<<
You purposefully misread scientific data, mislead people, create a club for governments across the world, including and especially our own, to smack Americans around with, create a milieu in which our legislators can both control and tax us to near poverty, create a possible world tax and control system, buy “carbon offsets” with ill-gotten gains to buy everyone off from noticing your personal carbon footprint, which is bigger than 10-20 average Americans. All of which will accomplish nothing.
I mean, what could possible be political?
So, now you’re trying to enlist support of warming *deniers*, Al!!! Debate it, Slimy Coward! Bob

LONDON - The British government unveiled plans Monday to launch one of the world’s most ambitious expansions of nuclear-power capacity, calling for the construction of 10 plants to help meet surging energy demands in the era of global warming.
After years of resistance to construction of nuclear-power plants, the British plan underscored how nations around the world are scrambling to find ways to generate more energy while slashing the emissions that cause climate change. To do that, nations including the United States are considering more reliance on nuclear power, which, while generating radioactive waste, produces almost no carbon emissions.
GW ping
Yea, nothing political about onerous taxes, government picking winners and losers, all sorts of market distortions, and government regulation of all energy production and consumption.
Bingo.

And he arrived on Southwest Air Lines?
And he took BART in from the air port?
Indeed.
Well said.

Hey...these houseboats, jets skis, private planes, and town cars don't pay for themselves...you know?
Wait. Wait. Should be synonymous with the word "Gore".
See my post #13
POLITICIAN!
Well, if you would stop at that point, Al, we would agree on something.
What the hell is he talking about?
—
beats me but I needed one good laugh to end the day... and
Al delivered. ;-)
That has to be a poor attempt to make a joke. It won't take much of a grid to support that and it may create four dozen jobs. Whats next? Requirement to buy and own hamsters that run on a wheel connected to a generator? (PETA will not allow that)
This country will never achieve energy independence without heavy utilization of nuclear and coal.
I reckon that it happened way before that even. Have you ever tried reading his book "Earth In The Balance" (at some 500+ pages in small print)??? I have. And it turned into a laugher pretty quickly ... I plogged thru about 1/5th of it and it was just repetition after repetition after repetition of the same theme: "WE'RE ALL DOOMED!!!" over and over and over and over and over again, just stated somewhat differently each time
The man is just simply a Kook .. there is no PC other way to put it
You first, Al.
Cheers!
Cheers!
Solar power is on hold, because Gore hasn’t been able to get clear title to the Sun.
His activity borders on insider trading, in that, he is profiting from the things he is pushing.
Nahhh, think I'll pass on that offer ... but thanks for the Cheers anyway :)
Algore is a coward who profits on a lie. His life after death will not be as a rich man.
“The chickensh*t won’t debate.”
Right, he avoids debates and any tough questions.
David Blood and Goldman Sachs helped Al Gore turn his Climate Crusade into a billion-dollar cash cow. Gore and Blood manage UK-based Generation Investment Management LTD. About a year ago they linked up with Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers who invested in Generation and made Gore a limited partner for green development.
KPCB is a shrewd Silicon Valley venture capital firm that has made billions by investing in the right start-ups. (One deal to buy 10 percent of Google in 1999 for $50 million is now worth about $10 billion.)
Gore and Blood last summer bought a 10 percent stake in Camcoa UK-based carbon credit trader and broker. Just prior to that they talked the financial board of the Church of England into investing $250 million in Generation.
The industrial slump in Europe has shrunk the value of EU carbon credits. Some analysts have warned that the whole market could collapse. Gore and Blood expect Obama and Congress to impose cap-and-trade on U.S. industry. This will lead to a U.S. carbon credit market that can be merged with the EU system, inflating Gore’s carbon credit paper and giving him a captive market.
Beyond that, Gore has positioned himself to be the primary arbitrator between U.S. industry and the federal government in a cap-and-trade America. Simultaneously he can sell carbon credits, rake in huge consulting fees, get paid $100,000 for a forty-minute rant on polar bears, and be a beloved celebrity and Nobel laureate.

You can see the green is about the greenback.
Along with all the IPCC propaganda the UN has estimated that greenhouse gas associated with all domestic animal production exceeds that of the entire world transportation sector (trains, planes, cars, trucks, ships, etc.). True Greens eat little or no meat and don’t weigh as much as Marlon Brando. I know for a fact Al Gore is addicted to hickory-smoked, barbecued pork.
Where is the news media on all thispublishing and broadcasting the press releases of doomsday Chicken Littles.
All of which will accomplish nothing.”
I think we try to rationalize the craziness, when the truth may be beyond the obvious. I’m chalking it all up to control. If they can get that grid in place they can control every bit of power we use. We will be at the mercy of the government.
he is profiting from the things he is pushing trying to make mandatory.
Fixed it fer ya! :o)
And for that reason any person with normal intellect has to look sideways at Gore.
He has no credibility. None of his green power sources have any stored energy, the attribute an energy source must have to be viable.
Gore is nuts.
>>I think we try to rationalize the craziness, when the truth may be beyond the obvious. Im chalking it all up to control. If they can get that grid in place they can control every bit of power we use. We will be at the mercy of the government.<<
You are right, but it doesn’t matter about any grid. Once they start dictating your car, your house, your travel pattern, the hours you can work, the hours you can play, where you can go, where you can’t go, how much you will pay in taxes to your Local, State, Federal and now World Governments.
You bet your butt this is about control. Micro-control of every American is what they want and they won’t stop until stopped by us or they get that control.
Divest yourself and consent to debates. Until then you’re not credible.
Gore, your 15 minutes were up long ago,
just go away and die somewhere. So sick of this POS.
I just hope he stays the heck away from here.. it’s cold enough already!
The documentary is supposed to be out this winter. Phil has three short trailers, plus a clip of his almost-meeting with The alGore at a book signing the other day in Nashville. You can see the trailers here .
Phil occassionally talks about the upcoming documentary on his show and it sounds like it'll be a winner. The fact it's really getting under The alGore's skin is an added bonus. heh!
