[Weekly Chosun] Sino-N. Korean 'Intel War'
/snip
In October, 2006, when N. Korea did their first nuclear test, there were spies who sneaked in from Chinese fishing boat off the shore of Hwa-dae(near the test site.) They wanted to install GPS system in Hwa-dae and tried to obtain samples from N. Korea's nuclear test, but N. Korean State Security got them. N. Korea made no announcement to the outside about this incident. They nabbed the entire team and executed them without trial. According to a N. Korean defector, he was told by a security agent, "We found out that the spies are not from S. Korea but from China." Security agents who cracked this case , including the Head of N. Hamkyong branch of Sate Security Dept., were said to have been given the title of 'Hero' by Kim Jong-il.

The most serious source of Sino-N. Korean conflict is the indiscriminate abduction (by N. Korean agents) of Chinese who are supposed to be in anti-North activities. A Chinese, who was originally an ethnic Chinese in N. Korea, had disappeared in Sino-N. Korean border area. He helped an escaping N. Korean defector, Mr. Kang, in March, 2005. Families of the disappeared asked Chinese authorities to investigate, but N. Korea flatly denies its involvement. An ethnic Korean living near Tumen River said, "Japanese and S. Koreans are raising abductee issues now. However, the problem of Chinese abducted by N. Korean security agency inside China is more serious. There are hundreds of disappeared people along Yalu-Tumen River." Despite such numerous disappearance, people can only suspect N. Koreans but have no place to turn to for its resolution. Chinese helping out N. Korean escapees are living in fear because they can be snatched by N. Korean agents inside China anytime.

Chinese started to check every (dollar)bill coming out of N. Korea since early 2000. Their intelligence showed that N. Korean agents are dumping large number of fake bills into Chinese black markets to bankroll their operation. A former high-level N. Korean official, now a defector, said, "At one time, it has become a rage to sell fake dollar or yuan bills into China, to the point that they lost track of how many were circulating in vast black markets of China."
/snip
N. Korean drug is also a big headache for China. Chinese drug task force is operating around Helong, Yanbian Autonomous District. Too much drug is flowing into China from the border area. About 30% of local Chinese are estimated to be addicted to N. Korean drug.

Thank You :(
For all those who fell.
And remember Pfc. David L. Bibee
FRiend.
I’m thinking that NK illicit drug sales to China really gets under the Chinese skin. After all, the British did exactly the same thing with opium.
IT REALLY IS GRASS!
