For the first time, Republican Rob Portman is inching ahead of the two Democrats in the 2010 race for Ohio's U.S. Senate seat, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today. Also for the first time, Ohio voters disapprove 50 45 percent of the job President Barack Obama is doing, down from his 53 42 percent approval September 16 and 49 44 percent approval July 7.
In still another first, voters are split 40 40 percent on who is doing a better job handling health care, the President or Congressional Republicans, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh- pe-ack) University survey finds. In a September 16 survey on the same question, Obama was on top 49 28 percent.
Ohio voters disapprove 53 42 percent of the way the President is handling the economy and disapprove 57 36 percent of the way he is handling health care. In September, they approved of his handling of the economy 48 46 percent and split on his handling of health care 44 45 percent.
Independent voters, often the group that decides Ohio elections, disapprove 49 45 percent of the overall job Obama is doing and disapprove 54 39 percent of his handling of the economy. They disapprove 62 34 percent, almost 2-1, of his handling of health care.

Signs and portents: Conservative Victory in 2010.
BO is the best spokesperson for the Conservative cause.
>> For the first time, Republican Rob Portman is inching ahead of the two Democrats
I seem to recall that at one time Christie was “inching ahead” of Corzine.
Yep, people have figured out what a loser he is.
Quinn-a-PEE-ack is Hillary’s pollster. They oversample Dems so if this is their diagnosis, it must be even worse than that for Democrats.
I hope you are correct that it will be a conservative victory in 2010. I think it more likely to be a GOP/RINO victory or that the GOP snatches defeat from the jaws of victory. I see no signs that the party has learned anything.
This is Carter fatigue X 2.
brace for the round of MSM articles and opinion pieces about what a bunch of bitter racists hicks Ohioans are...
Caught the Quinnipiac Mens Hockey Team in action last weekend. Their nickname is the Bobcats (not, as I had always presumed, The Fighting Pollsters...)
Whose seat is this, DeWine?
How’s Strickland polling? That’s the big race there, and if there will be any coattails, it comes from there.
Looks like Kasich and Strickland are evenly split with 40% each. I really like Kasich a lot, always have. I sure hope he wins, but Strickland has going for him the fact that he backed Hillary. I think she looks good to a lot of rats who are out of work and thinking about doing jail time for not having health insurance.
No coatails from Strickland as he’s polling even with the next Ohio Governor, John Kasich. Strickland has blown a near thirty point lead since the beginning of the year.
By the time the general rolls around next year, Strickland will be wear a very short Eisenhower jacket....
Must be Vonovich as Brown took DeWine’s seat, unfortunately.

...regurgitated from the primary season of 2008, when Ohio Dems dared to choose Hillary over Barack. First up - the Appalachian Scotch-Irish.
