A plumber whose arm was left twisted grotesquely out of shape in an accident ten months ago has had an operation to correct it 'cancelled four times'.

Torron Eeles, 50, has been left unable to work since falling down the stairs and now fears he may lose his home after being denied incapacity benefit.

The father-of-three today hit out at the NHS for the 'unacceptable delays', but East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust said Mr Eeles had his operation cancelled on 'only' two occasions on clinical safety grounds. His left arm has hung limply by his side since he fractured the humerus bone in December 2008.

Mr Eeles, from Welham Green, Hertfordshire, applied for employment and support allowance but a doctor ruled he is ineligible for both because he can turn on a tap.

His third operation in February was postponed after he was found to have high blood pressure, while the fourth, scheduled for May, was abandoned because of concerns about his smoking.

The plaster was removed from Mr Eeles' arm after three months and he was given a wrist sling, which he branded 'totally useless'.

I know a woman in N. Ireland who was put on the “urgent” list for severe gallbladder disease, so she “only” waited 2 months for an ultrasound. Then she spent most of a year and a half in pain and misery waiting for surgery. It was rescheduled twice before she finally had it done.

I know a woman in Texas who went to the ER for abdominal pain, was tested and diagnosed with gallbladder disease the next day, had her surgery a day or 2 later, and was home the day after that.

Not so many thanks to some unreal taxes on beer. I always found it ironic that I could buy the same label and year of French wine for less in the U.S. than France thanks to the VAT. Last year I was in London and stunned by the price of a pint in a pub. This wasn't wholly due to the exchange rate, which made it worse.

Tonight I heard people on a radio show calling for an increase in sin taxes to pay for healthcare over here!

No operations if you smoke, if you are not the perfect BMI, not the perfect blood pressure.. not the perfect height.

He actually looks quite fit and trim and healthy for a man his age, especially considering this disability that socialized health”care” has left him with for so long. I can’t imagine trying to go jogging with an arm in that condition. And high blood pressure? Who wouldn’t have high blood pressure if they were left with deformity like that for nearly a year, because the socialist government that’s been taxing him half to death for it’s health”care” system simply refuses to provide urgently needed care for an obviously fixable injury?

That is horrible.

A break like that needs to be repaired ASAP, or it risks permanent disability. At this point, even if that unfortunate man’s arm is straightened, he may not get back full use.

I broke my elbow 2 1/2 years ago. I had surgery 6 days later.

My husband broke (shattered) his wrist this summer, through the ulna and radius. He had surgery just over 2 weeks later.

I’m glad we didn’t have to wait.

I'm also flabbergasted by this, in a way. How much damage must they do to our country before Americans put a stop to it. What's wrong with us? The majority of this (and some other administrations) have abandoned any allegiance to those who gave them their jobs. Instead of working for and representing us, they spit on us and vote as they please.

If this outrageous government takeover of our health care system where politicians will decide what care we can have, or not have, has not brought about a serious revolt, I can only believe that we are willing to say "Good-Bye" to the great country our forefathers intended for us.
