White House Counsel Greg Craig is expected to announce on Friday that he plans to step down from his post following a rocky tenure, people familiar with the matter said.
Craig, the top lawyer at the White House and a close aide to President Barack Obama, has helped lead the administration's efforts on several national-security policies that initially enjoyed popular support but have since become liabilities for Obama.
These include the planned closure of the prison for terrorism suspects at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and the release of Bush administration-era national-security documents.

The little kids are running home. LOL
And thus opening up the way for the next Commie to come down the pike...
...same as it ever was.
Is this the position that Anita Dunn’s husband is going to fill?
Another one bites the dust!
Craig has represented numerous high-profile clients. In 1981, he was a member of the team that represented John Hinckley, Jr., who tried to assassinate Ronald Reagan. helping put together an insanity defense that led to Hinckley’s acquittal.
Craig represented Senator Ted Kennedy during the 1991 rape trial of William Kennedy Smith. (The Senator himself faced no charges in this trial.)
He represented the Cuban father of Elián González during the 2000 child custody dispute which ended when U.S. Marshals enforced court orders that the child be moved from the Florida home of relatives, where they had influenced the child to make a number of videos lashing out at his father. The courts ultimately supported the father’s contention that the child should be returned to his custody, a decision father’s rights groups around the world greeted with overwhelming approval.
Craig represented United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan during the Volker Commission’s investigations in 2004 into the scandals involving the oil-for-food programme.
Recently, he represented Pedro Miguel González Pinzón, a Panamanian legislator wanted in the US for the murder in 1992 of a US soldier, and the attempted murder of another. The Dallas Morning News called on Senator Obama to ask Craig to choose between the campaign and involvement in the case. Craig had earlier represented the Panamá government during the trial in 1990 of the former president, General Manuel Noriega and had sought the return to Panamá’s treasury of funds stolen by Noriega.
Craig’s representation of Latin American politicians caused an uproar again in June 2008, when the U.S. Department of Justice granted asylum to two of his clients, former Bolivian President Gonzalo Sánchez de Lozada and former Minister of Defense Carlos Sánchez Berzaín. The two Bolivians were under indictment in Bolivia for their role in the government’s killing of 67 protesters in El Alto in 2003. While ultimately endorsing Craig, the Council on Hemispheric Affairs said that his representation of the two Bolivian clients, “has raised legitimate doubts regarding his moral commitment to Latin America.”
Oh the humanity!
He seems to have a lot of experience representing highly placed scum in the public trust.
I’m sure a guy like that could be very useful around 1600 these days.
He is a class A dirtbag, isn’t he?
Replacing Craig as the White House's Chief Legal Counsel is reported to be Robert Bauer, HUSBAND to outgoing White House Communication Director Anita Dunn. Robert Bauer, Chair of the Political Law Group of Perkins Coie, handled most of the lawsuits for Obama and the DNC during the 2008 campaign.
Robert Bauer was the general counsel of the presidential campaign of Barack Obama. He went on to become the general counsel of the Democratic National Committee. He is also the top lawyer of Organizing for America. Along with this, he also represents the President on his personal matters. He also holds a full time job as the chairman of the political law group of Perkins Coie. Perkins and Coie is the firm that defends Obama against the controversies regarding the legitimacy of his citizenship status based on being naturally born in the country.
Yes .. Glenn got the inside word ... weeks ago .. LOL.
At the 7:35 mark
He needs another 500,000 “saved” jobs. Dufus isn’t going to last long while people in good standing 2 or 3yrs ago voted for his ass.
Obama’s minions are starting to fall like fleas! LOL!
