At 75, Charles Manson has spent more than half his life in prison for masterminding the notorious Helter Skelter killing spree that left actress Sharon Tate and six others dead in Los Angeles during the summer of 1969.
Manson spent his 75th birthday this week at the state prison in Corcoran, California, where he is in the protective housing unit. Some records indicate that Manson was born on November 12, but Manson's current associates and other records indicate his birthday was on Wednesday, November 11.
"He spent the day the same way he spends every day in prison," said Terry Thornton, spokeswoman for the state department of corrections. "Lately, the prison has told me, he doesn't come out of his cell very often."
She added that Manson didn't mention his birthday to anyone, and only emerged from his cell for about 20 minutes on Wednesday.
While his appearance has changed significantly from the wide-eyed cult leader who appeared on the cover of Life magazine in 1969, Manson continues to wield influence over some who consider him a wizened messenger.
Prison officials say Manson still gets lots of mail and spends most of his days singing and playing guitar in a high security unit. He also spends time speaking to associates like "Gray Wolf," 60, and "Star," a 24-year-old fast food employee.
Wolf said Manson gave him his name -- just as he named members of his infamous "Family" of followers during the 1960s. Wolf said he moved close to the prison in Corcoran so he could be near the man he believes possesses deep insight into environmental issues.
"Manson thinks the destruction of the environment is much more serious than we are being made out to believe," Wolf told CNN.

I think he's just using environmentalism as a way of getting parole. If he was really smart, he'd throw a sentence or two about hating George W. Bush. That would almost guarantee an early release.

The WU held their hands up with their fingers out in such a way as to give the "sign of the fork" as a group symbol.This was to glorify the fact that Cheryl Tate was stabbed repeatedly with a fork.
Manson once said that millions would yet die. When he said that I believe it was a demon speaking directly through him as to plans to murder millions of decent people. It even will be carried out during the second half of the tribulation. Those who do not worship the antiChrist and take the mark of the beast will die in large number.

Jim Jones was popular in the Dem circles until that one unfortunate incident.
Satan wants to keep everyone that he can from having The LORD as the center of their purpose and worship. If he can divert peoples adoration and focus to anything other than The LORD God he knows that he has caused that person to be lost forever. They must repent and turn to The Living God as their center and purpose if they are to live righteously and forever.
What people do not realize as they go about living their everyday lives as though they were going to live forever without living for The LORD God is that there is a battle in the heavenly for there souls. Satan is possessed with the desire to take as many people as he can with him into perdition. He has an army of demons that are dedicated to destroying souls. They do their work on largely a subconscious level as they work to keep people blinded to the truth of God. A much used tactic is to keep people's attention, desires and passions on anything that will keep their focus from the peril of their sinful souls.
If he can keep the minds and hearts of especially the young and searching enmeshed in the things of the world he has won a large part of his battle. That is the real reason for many of the things that are going on in the world. It is to keep people distracted from their real peril and also the purpose that they were created, which is to bring pleasure to their Creator.
It is the job of the enlightened to pray for, love and warn the lost as to their condition. It is truly an act of love to demonstrate a desire to help others find the truth of their Creator, which is Jesus Christ and Him crucified for the sins of the world.
