Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Friday that the Obama administration will push for “immigration reform” by giving the estimated 14 million people who are in the United States illegally “fair pathway to earned legal status.”
“A tough and fair pathway to earned legal status will mandate that illegal immigrants meet a number of requirements—including registering, paying a fine, passing a criminal background check, fully paying all taxes and learning English,” Napolitano said Friday at a panel discussion at the liberal Center for American Progress in Washington, D.C.
“These are substantial requirements that will make sure this population gets right with the law,” Napolitano said. “It will help fix our broken system.”
Napolitano said the Obama administration is working to end the recession and put Americans back to work but said giving legal status to illegal aliens will “strengthen our economy.”
“Requiring illegal immigrants to register to earn legal status, as I discussed earlier, will strengthen our economy as these immigrants become full-paying taxpayers,” Napolitano said. “As labor leaders have made clear to me, immigration reform will be a boon to American workers.
“Think about it: unions will never achieve the best terms for workers when a large part of the workforce is illegal and operates in a shadow economy,” Napolitano said. “By contrast, the status quo not only hurts American workers, it also stifles potential opportunities to grow our economy.”
Napolitano said that she has seen a “major shift” in the immigration landscape, which the Obama administration hopes will make it easier for Congress to pass new immigration laws.

This is actually the money line. Notice where she and the Kenyan are getting their marching orders from? The unions.
Couple this with universal, government-controlled healthcare, and you’ll be fortunate to even GET a seat in an old chair in a nasty hospital ER if you are a hardworking taxpayer.

One thing they accomplish. They gave us other things to concentrate on besides health care. Now the pols can say,”Gee,people are not so upset about health care any longer,they’re all pissed off about other things so we can pass it without fear of our jobs.”
They will be wrong,but it paints a false picture that Pelosi and Reid can run with as they twist arms.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, the White House point person on immigration, said Friday that Congress must provide temporary worker programs and a path to citizenship for 12 million undocumented workers when it takes up reform legislation next year.
Napolitano was optimistic a reform bill could pass in an election year because border security goals have been met and the economic downturn has decreased illegal immigration significantly since a bipartisan bill died in the Senate two years ago.
“I know a major shift when I see one, and what I have seen makes reform far more attainable this time around,” Napolitano said at a speech at the Center for American Progress, a liberal think tank and advocate for immigration reform.[snip]

That’s right. It’s a numbers game.
First, the country can’t afford to support illegal aliens with our social services. The tax revenue these people will generate does not even come close to covering the expense these people incur. The Heritage Report on this is very clear and accurate. Secondly, it is a total affront to every law abiding immigrant who has gone through our process and is trying to come to the US LEGALLY.
Let’s see - what do we need - educated, skilled immigrants who go through the process legally or uneducated, unskilled people who break our laws and sneak across our borders? That’s not even taking into account the number of people coming over who are drug dealers, have criminal records, and/or are gang members.

I began to think that this was always the plan, especially when 0bama burned his “bi-partisan bridges” with the way he went on the Socialized Medicine - Single Payer Health Care issue.
I figured that there was no way we was going to get voters back for the way he is royally screwing AMerica, then it dawned on me.

14 million votes before 2010. As much as all this pisses me off, I have to give the Democrats props for getting what they want done. I cannot believe that the Republicans did not just plow through whatever they wanted. They couldn’t even pass Social Security. I hope that when Republicans get the majority again that they learned at least this from the Democrats.

But that fact wouldn’t stop him from an attempt. I believe he realizes any attempt to remove him from the Presidency for trying to set himself up as a dictator would result in massive civil disobediance, both by his supporters and by any opponents.
The whole purpose would be to cause anarchy, the result would be to remove the U.S.A. as a superpower.

I have been studying this for about 7 years now and your all way too low. the southwest and the south have the majority of the illegals but you have to remember not all illegals are hispanic,now the illegals have infiltrated the northern states as well.The democrats wouldn’t change the rules for 14 million think about it.... but if it were 45-50 million it will be worth the scorn and ridicule they will have to put up with to get this passed its 45 million

The union workers have faith that their leaders will continue their thuggery on behalf of the membership. That’s as far as they think. The union bosses keep the members stirred up with hatred of the companies they work for, and that’s what their worker’s world is pre-occupied with. Legalizing illegals will increase the number of union members which fattens the union bosses’ coffers, and that’s all they care about, along with growing their power and ability to basically call all the shots within the companies.

Unions are looking to swell their ranks with illegals - not because they have jobs for them, but because the members have to pay their dues whether they're employed or not.
If the union doesn't have work for them, they can't go to work for a non union company.
Some union shops, such as a mega yacht builder in Tacoma that I was on the verge of working for a few years ago, had a stipulation that if I left there for ANY reason, I would no longer be able to practice my craft for ANY boat builder, union or not, in the state of Washington.
These were much more comprehensive than your average "non compete" clause which you might sign dealing with proprietary technology or procedures.
I can just imagine how many workers have been laid off from companies like that and would be forced to leave the state to find work in their trade....if their union contract even allows that.
People who complained about the population explosion in WA state but belong to a union here don't realize that they may be "invading" an unwelcome state in the future themselves.
Construction unions are notorious for trolling job sites for non union foremen and/or most experienced journeymen, dangling promises of lavish benefits and up to twice the hourly wage, even if there are already dozens who've been waiting months "on the bench". The Los Angeles Fire Sprinkler Fitters had an 83% unemployed rate when I left LA, and it apparently was pretty close to that when I signed up...they just didn't mention that, and I never knew if I was going to have a job when I finished the one I was working on - usually not, and then it was back to the end of the bench.
Naphead's plan is the Obama/union plan. What do you think will happen in our communities when we suddenly have 15-20 million unskilled union laborers "sharing the wealth" to the tune of sustained 80-90% unemployment rates amongst them, not to mention the laborers that have been raising families and now find themselves spending years instead of weeks on the bench.
The communities will pay as always, both in taxes for extended benefits and welfare, and for ransacked houses, jail sentences for taking what they can't earn, and the subsequent criminal records that keep them from ever getting a job worth spit.
And to think that the #1 most common benefit cited by union members is "Job Protection".
There are so many socialist / globalist in charge now, I do not see the electoral process turning this around.
