Such is the level of indignation on the right at the left’s nastiness towards her and those who might abet it that I got yelled at by a friend last night for posting this. Now Radar gives us something new, which isn’t the only claim out there that she’s made more than one “biggest mistake of my life.” I understand the defensiveness on her behalf — search the archives and you’ll see that I’ve written plenty in her favor — but I also get Ace’s exasperation:
My problem, instead, is that she has enlisted supporters, such as myself, to support her in her legal/PR campaign, on the theory that the California pageant had nothing legitimate to boot her out on, and that only anti-Christian animus could explain their behavior, when in fact… well, first the photos, which were racy, but I excused and defended. And then, well, the masturbation tape, which I kept quiet about.
And now… the other seven masturbation tapes…
She knew all this stuff was out there, she knew it was coming out, etc., and yet I and many of her supporters have been impressed into duty as her defenders through deception.
Because it wasn’t ever true that there was no reason, save anti-Christian animus, to kick her out of the pageant organization. A masturbation tape is, well. I’m not really offended by it but other pageant-hopefuls have gotten the boot for the same thing, and even a lot less.
So what do I feel about her? I feel she chumped me in order to advance her own legal interests…
Whether she has anything more interesting to say is up to her. But the Perez Hilton/pageant stuff? I really don’t care to hear how unfair it all was anymore. It was unfair, and a book deal was gotten out of that; that’s enough. A book deal can bandage up a lot of wounds.
I’m wondering if he’s in the minority on that or if sentiment is spreading that her defenders, in some way, have been had. I agree with him (and said so yesterday) that the left’s “hypocrisy” charge is overblown, for the simple reason that Christians don’t claim to be perfect. On the contrary, it’s the fact that they’re imperfect and prone to “stray from the path,” as we all are, that draws them towards redemption in the faith. There does, however, come a point where you stray so far from the path or so frequently that your commitment to it comes into question. For example, an atheist in a foxhole might be forgiven for saying a prayer in a moment of panic, while he’s being shot at. An atheist who prays any time he’s in a tough spot … simply ain’t much of an atheist. Has CP reached that point (yet) in Christian/conservative opinion or is her line of credit essentially limitless”?
I’ll forgive her.
However, he HAS been naughty, and needs a good spanking.
Regardless of your judgment of her... (I’m sure you are readying the stones to enact just that)... Carrie, a decidedly frail human with faults... decided to draw the line when it came to the sanctity of the definition of marriage as being between ONE MAN and ONE WOMAN.
That took guts. Too bad you and others here do not realize that.
I tried to warn her that taking those pictures wasn't a good idea but she said she had this fantasy and that I should help her with her fantasies like she always did with mine.
Then she packed her laptop into a suitcase, boarded a flight and never saw the laptop again.
Exactly.
Can we just make Carrie Prejean go away, please? I’m so tired of this soap opera.
She just needs to get an honest job.
I am unsure. I think I need to see the videos.
Once again the left proves that they can pull the strings of social conservatives by playing the morality card.
Michael Medved is a questionable source in my book... but beyond that her stand against the PLANTED question by P.Hilton was an admirable one and as a discriminating adult I am able to admire the appropriate actions of someone without being influenced to run after them willy nilly in any and all directions they choose to go. Why you feel a need to attack every aspect of this young woman’s life - throwing her to the dogs for her failings seems quite odd to me.
So I don't care if someone digs up film of her with two midgets and a donkey.
I'm on Carrie's side.
Geez.. I wasn’t aware of the scope of her published work... good thing you do so you can warn us!
Here here and RIGHT ON!
And all this indignation on the left about sex tapes is just really galling. Especially from the Hollywood left. Is there a starlet in Hollywierd that doesn't have a sex tape? I mean that's practically a requirement to attain fame there anymore. Should she have done it - Absolutely not; but an organization that has Shanna Moakler as it's president, that purchases breast implants for young women, AND has Perez Hilton as a judge should be the LAST to throw stones.
I commend her for how she handled herself immediately after the pageant. But I believe if she were a good girl, who just got caught up in this thing that was basically thrown upon her, the pageant would have stuck by her. She copped an attitude..hooked up with "PEOPLE" and, frankly, seems like a bitch.
My opinion...no need to argue..
She may not be a conservative ICON, but she gave the CORRECT answer to P.Hilton’s question and for that... I don’t care how much time she takes with her 15 minutes. She has a pass in my book.
I could not care less what Carrie Prejean does. The whole point of this is that she answered a question honestly during a pageant & has been punished for it because it was politically incorrect. That’s it in a nutshell.
The Queers are out to get her. They will do everything in their power to do so.
One of the nicest, prettiest (actually stunningly beautiful) and most devout Christian girls I have ever known had a problem with sex. She told me a high school boy got her involved and she just basically couldn’t completely stop.
Yes she was sinning and was wrong. It also hurt her relationship with Christ and hurt her testimony. She also genuinely wanted to quit and I know prayed for help.
Like I said, she was as nice a person as you will ever know and I would trust her with my life or the lives of my children. She was not without sin but was nearly perfect in every other way.
Fortunately she is now married and I would bet anything, true to her husband. Maybe that is the way God answered her prayers.
Now I am sure she would oppose homosexual marriage, she even opposes sex outside marriage but would never have made that an issue since she was not living right in that way. She did have a right to support traditional marriage tho.
Ad hominem tu quoque. AKA Appeal to hypocrisy. People on both the right and left love the tactic. One small problem, its still a fallacy.
This criticism of Carrie Prjean is childish. Was the issue her purity in all things, or was it gay marriage?
Are some of us so damn stupid you think her opinion on gay marriage is invalid if she (shock!) ever posed nude? Or sent her BF a sexy tape?
How childish.
