VANCOUVER SNIPPET: "Khaled Nawaya, a flight instructor, was arrested by Canada Border Services agents when they found $800,000 in gold coins and other currency in his car and pockets on Oct. 6, as he crossed into Surrey, B.C., near Vancouver." SNIPPET: "He'd been living in the U.S. since he was 17 and had gained approval for permanent residency in Canada.
Besides the gold, Canadian agents found a ring bearing the insignia of Hezbollah, which has been listed as a terrorist organization by the Canadian government since 2002.
They also seized 9/11 conspiracy theory-themed DVDs and a scarf adorned with the images of a former Israeli prime minister and a U.S. president depicted as monkeys."
SNIPPET: "And while the government has inquired with several Middle Eastern embassies about the significance of the ring -- such as whether they'd represent participation in the Islamist group based in Lebanon - Rankin said the man's brother had them uniquely made in the U.S."
SNIPPET: "Nawaya was also checked out by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security after Sept. 11, 2001. Rankin said Nawaya likely piqued the department's interest because he is a flight instructor and because he is of Middle Eastern descent.
Nawaya was born in Saudi Arabia but holds Syrian citizenship. Upon moving to the U.S. he earned two degrees, in professional aeronautics and management."

“Khaled Nawaya, a flight instructor”
Guilty.
Poor man, must be so stressed out.
Not really, no stress when you’re released and he’s released.

“Syrian carrying $880,000, Hezbollah ring, 9/11 videos, stopped at Canadian border
‘I feel great. Its an experience for life. Its one of these things’”
Frank Luba, Canwest News Service
Published: Thursday, November 12, 2009
SNIPPET: “VANCOUVER — Don’t cross the Canadian border with almost a million dollars that you fail to declare — especially when you also have a Hezbollah ring and a Palestinian scarf in your possession.
Khaled Nawaya found that out the hard way when he was arrested Oct. 6 at the Douglas border crossing in Surrey, B.C., and had to spend a month in detention while being investigated as a security threat.
He was released on Thursday with a long list of conditions after a hearing before the federal government’s Immigration Division member Lynda Mackie. He remains to have no status in Canada.”
SNIPPET: “About $800,000 of Mr. Nawaya’s stash, which is still in the Canadian government’s possession, was in Canadian gold coins purchased by Mr. Nawaya’s brother, who lives in Texas. There was another $70,000 in cash and about $10,000 in his pockets,
Further compounding the situation was his possession of a ring with the Hezbollah emblem. Mr. Rankin said the ring was one of two specially made by Mr. Nawaya’s brother.
Hezbollah is a militant group fighting Israel’s presence in Lebanon. Canada considers it a terrorist group.”

Let's not jump to conclusions....
No jumping here.
Sorry, crusty, medium old fart here. Not sure what that means.
“Let’s not jump to conclusions....”
Yeah, proabably a lot of people have a ring bearing the insignia of Hezbollah and monkey-president scarves.
“Khaled Nawaya, a flight instructor,”
Doesn’t this just give us all a warm fuzzy feeling?
By the way, in a later article he has been freed.
“Man arrested at B.C. border with ‘terrorist resources’
Were these “resources” walking around and talking with a veteran?

Thank you GOP Poet.
HF
Look people, not all Muslim flight instructors with Syrian passports crossing borders with a million bucks in gold and cash and Hezzbollah rings and 9/11 videos are terrorists!
domestic jihad bump
Thank you for the bump Dajjal.
he’s just a misunderstood *idealist*
whose so-called ideals include mass murder, terror, Jew-hatred, genocide, and the annihilation of civilization worldwide.
aside from those minor faults he’s a swell guy
A great example of the difference between “smarts” and “common sense”.
...Upon moving to the U.S. he earned two degrees, in professional aeronautics and management....so he must have some smarts BUT...Crosses the border with $800,000 gold stash,Hezbollah ring, Palestinian scarf, 9/11 DVD’s...
GOD IS GREAT

Things seem to be heating up ... ;-(
Oh, I’m sure our wonderful FBI has been following this guy for years and was just waiting to pounce. Sarcasm? indeed!

JUNE 2, 1999 : ( CANADA : VANCOUVER HEZBOLLAH TERRORIST M H DBOUK CONVERSES WITH COCONSPIRATOR/BROTHER-IN-LAW ALI ADHAM AMHAZ-----see IMAD MUGNIYEH {see LEBANON, US MARINE BARRACKS BOMBING, ETC})/// Bell [Kenneth Bell, a U.S. Justice Department lawyer prosecuting a Hezbollah cell that uses Canada as a base] said what convinced him of Mr. Mugniyah's involvement in Canada was a fax intercepted by the Canadian Security Intelligence Service -- a message sent by Mohamad Hassan Dbouk, a Hezbollah agent in Vancouver, to his boss in Lebanon, Hassan Laqis.
"Dbouk sent one of these Palm Pilots to Laqis and the closing line to this was, 'I want you to know that I will do anything I can for you and the father, and I mean anything,' " Mr. Bell said. He believes the term "the father" referred to Mr. Mugniyah.
Later, in a telephone conversation monitored by CSIS agents, Mr. Dbouk admonished his alleged accomplice and brother-in-law, Ali Adham Amhaz, a resident of Burnaby, B.C., for mentioning the name Haj Imad on the phone.
"What a terribly dangerous thing to say," Mr. Dbouk said in the June 2, 1999, conversation. "Would anyone bring up Imad's name here or in any other country and stay alive?"
A CSIS report on the conversation said Mr. Dbouk referred to Haj Imad as "the whole story" and advised Mr. Amhaz to deny knowing the man. "Dbouk cautioned Amhaz to be careful and to pretend to know nothing," CSIS wrote.
Mr. Bell said he believes the Haj Imad mentioned in these exchanges is Mr. Mugniyah. According to Mr. Mugniyah's FBI "most wanted" poster, he uses the alias Hajj.
