Newt Gingrich warns of 'destructive' GOP primaries (The Rhino Strikes Back)
Politico ^ | 11/13/09 3:45 PM EST | JONATHAN MARTIN

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich predicted disaster
for his party if the conservative wing of the GOP
continues to field independent candidates to the right
of the party’s nominee.

“If we get into a cycle where there are tea parties and
there are conservative third-party candidates, we will
make [Nancy] Pelosi speaker for life,” Gingrich told
POLITICO in an interview Thursday, calling the
practice “totally destructive.”

But Gingrich, who broke with many fellow conservatives
by getting behind the liberal Republican who was
nominated but ultimately dropped out and backed the
Democrat in a New York special congressional election,
admitted that Dede Scozzafava was too far to the left to
hold the GOP’s center-right coalition together

NO, NEWT, YOU WORTHLESS POS.

If we get into a cycle where there are RINOs, "moderates," pro-amnesty, pro-death care and pro-crap/theft candidates, the GOP and their DNC enablers will make Nancy Pelosi speaker for life.

The important lesson to draw from this is that EVERY one of these “faces” they put up that are supposedly conservative are actually NOT.

They’ve been scamming us for a long time.

NG totally discredited himself with NY-23. I don’t read anything he says now, I might as well be reading David Gergen or Peggy Noonan. Perdition to them and good riddance.

Isn’t it time to start correcting the use of the word “rhino” when being used to refer to Republicans In Name Only. The acronym is “RINO” and should not be confused with a denizen of Africa’s veld.

The lessons learned from New York are so obvious that only a politician could fail to read them.

(1) The conservatives are on or part the point of open revolt against the RNC leadership.

(2) Conservative candidates with no RNC support do better than RNC candidates with no conservative support.

(3) The Republican party gave $900, 000 to a liberal who attacked the conservative and endorse the democrat.

No one cares if he is considering running for President. He floated that balloon and it popped. Conservatism is not the extreme right wing of the party and moderates have been steadily moving left. He could serve a purpose by helping to organize another Contract with America and guide GOPAC again, instead we get mistakes like Scozzafava and weak first principles while we have to listen to his "musings". The guy loves to hear himself talk and people are tired of listening.

As an aside, Gingrich loves to push his wife on people, it's obnoxious and no one believes that they are some great couple nor do they care. It's like a father desperate for his kids to like his third wife.

I couldn’t agree with you more about his wife, WTF cares who she is or what she thinks, if she thinks.

I think that it is very revealing how politicians look at power. It seems that they will do anything, abandon any principle, ask their constituents to compromise all of their principles all for the sake of achieving power.

Whenever power is assumed, exactly when is principle returned to the administration of said power? Never, that’s when. If your daughter sets aside a principle temporarily while on a date with a boy and surrenders her virginity, when exactly does her virtue return?

Call me a purist if you like, but whenever I have a difficult time telling the difference between the RNC and the DNC, our tent is entirely too large. If we haven’t any principles left, to where exactly do we withdraw and reform?

I’m as angry - and disappointed - with Newt as much as the next guy, but listen to what he’s saying.

They don’t “put up” RINOs, there is a primary process. NY23 was a special election in which a candidate was appointed when ONE committee chairwoman threw all the votes she controlled to Dede, and is not indicative of anything.

If the Conservative cannot win the primary, it means there’s no taste for him in that particular district - hey, it happens.

What is the point of putting up a spoiler? And please don’t bring up NY23 - she was FAR to the left of mainstream Republicanism, and was NOT chosen by the people in that district. She was an outlier, and deserved to be challenged. She was not even a RINO, she was a liberal Dem in everything BUT her party affiliation.

Get Conservatives involved in the primary process and let’s go to war - but if the Conservative can’t get enough primary votes, why do we need a scorched earth policy that will, indeed, make Pelosi speaker for life?

I hope this puts to rest any more discussion of Newt as a Presidential candidate.

The guy was a failure as a Speaker and is one reason why now the GOP is back to minority status.

The 1994 takeover was done by Conservative's, not by the RINO's who were very content to stay in the minority and get along with the Democrats.

I am still trying, without much success, to figure out exactly what a “moderate” is.
Far as I can see, it’s someone who thinks taxes should go up a little at a time instead of one whopping shot, but that they should control my pocketbook one way or another.
Someone who thinks abortion should be a woman’s choice but the government ought not pay for it ALL the time.
Someone who thinks illegals ought to be given amnesty if they pay a few bucks borrowed from the government and sign some papers promising to pay it back.
Someone who thinks the government should fund and run public education INCLUDING charter schools and preschools.
Someone who thinks terrorists have rights that even I don’t have.
I could go on, but to me, anyone who thinks the government knows what’s best for me is NOT my friend.

Newt, Newt - you don’t understand. The next round of primaries are the LAST CHANCE for the GOP. If you don’t nominate the Conservatives then they will go off on their own. The CONSERVATIVE PARTY, led by Sarah, will relegate your tired old Republican Party to third party status. It may take an election cycle or two but we will NOT stand for any more RINO candidates - get it??

Who elected Newt as our spokesman?
FOX News?

Forgot about Newts behavior and resignation during the Clinton impeachment?

Forgot about Newts admission into the church of Global warming?

Newt tried to speak at the Tea Party in Atlanta but was booed.

Newt started his anti Second Amendment crap and went
along with the N.Y Times crap about the Mexican Cartels
buying their automatic weapons and grenades from Walmart
in Texas.

Newt sure like that socialized medicine idea.

Newt openly BACKED the Margaret Sanger Award Winning, Planned Parenthood Stooge, Destroy the family, Abortion Queen Dede Scozzafava.

loose elections until it returns.

The issue in the first place in district 23 was that there was no primary.

Unlike those on the other side conservatives believe in the democratic process.

If a conservative loes in the GOP primaries to a RINO, so be it but we will not support the RINO if he is given an exemption from having to fight for the district.

While I agree with your statement, I don’t see where the Republican Party’s by-laws have been changed to exclude Independents from participating in Republican primaries like the last time. Perhaps I am wrong on this score — I hope I am wrong anyway.

We talk about how conservatives are going to make their presence knew, but I find little talk on exactly how that is going to be accomplished in the face of structural resistance within the party’s corporate leadership, of which Newt has obviously become their new front-man.

Thank you for bringing up primaries. NY23 also notes a lack of consistency and the lack of closed primaries that gave us McCain in NH with all the Massholes coming up in buses and voting. The RNC and the State Parties have to get this in check.

If they don't and don't support Conservatives, they will go the way of the Wigs, they are so close to seeing a new party started do to their incompetence that has lead to our frustration it isn't even funny.

Take back your local and state parties. Use them to effect change at the National Level. Get solidly Conservative canidates to run for the leadership positions. RINO get involved and worm their way up to run he party machinery. Conservatives spend all their time bitching about the party but DO nothing. If Conservatives had quit bitching and started fighting locally around 2004, they, not the RINOs, would of controlled who got the nod in NY 23.

He probably was talking to himself: "Note to self: don't support a left-wing candidate, even though s/he runs as a Republican."

His point, however, is well taken. We cannot run anyone who lost in a Republican primary as a 3rd party candidate. The context is very important: whether the winner is actually conservative or not, whether the district is conservative or not, etc.. Unfortunately, after what he did in NY23, Newt is not the right person to say this.

We are gonna see more Lindsey Graham's: outed RINO's who turn tail and run to the Democrat party, like Sphincter, and hangers-on to the Republican in name only, like Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, McLame, etc.

The Tea Parties have successfully drawn a line in the sand regarding Conservative values and principles, and will fight for the Conservative candidates in EVERY Republican Primary that they can. This purge of the limp-wristed "moderates", who vote and think with the Socialists, is scaring the crap out of the RNC, which has been outed as a "Democrat-lite" effort.
