Like many New Yorkers and members of the families of the nearly 3,000 innocent Americans murdered on that horrific Tuesday morning eight years ago, I'm outraged and insulted by President Obama's decision to transfer Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the admitted mastermind of the 9/11 attacks, to New York City for trial in civilian federal court.

The decision will go down in history as one of the worst made by any US president. While it may be hailed by Europeans, the ACLU and the far-left-wing of the Democratic Party, the president's action actually threatens American lives and weakens US national security.

If you think this trial is going to feel like a stroke of justice against the terrorists, you are likely in for a rude awakening. Even if the verdict is correct, this trial will be a soapbox for KSM to rant against the United States and for his leftist defense attorneys to put the US intelligence agencies on trial. Obama didn’t choose this venue in order to satisfy patriotic Americans’ sense of justice. He did it to satisfy his leftwing base, who know this is an opportunity to drag America through the mud.

There is a distinct possibility one or more of these guys could be acquitted on some technicality. Then what? They would go back to the Middle East as heroes and begin plotting more attacks. Obama has simply not thought through the consequences of this happening and perhaps naively believes that an acquittal by the US justice system would make the jihadists love us.
