Some Fear Bush Administration Could Become Target in 9/11 Trial
Fox News ^ | 11-14-09

Some critics say a civilian trial -- instead of a military tribunal -- for self-proclaimed Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his accomplices could end up targeting the Bush administration and its anti-terror policies.

The Obama administration, in deciding to try alleged Sept. 11 conspirators in a New York courtroom, has said it is setting its sights on convictions, but some critics say a civilian trial -- instead of a military tribunal -- could end up targeting the Bush administration and its anti-terror policies.

One of those five defendants, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, has been at the center of the debate over those Bush-era polices, in particular the harsh interrogation techniques used on Mohammed and others in an effort to obtain information on Al Qaeda and any additional attacks.

Obama is paying back the MoveOn.org, 9/11 Truthers and DUmmies with a trial for George W. Bush via the back door, thus putting on display all of our anti-terror methods for all the world to see.

A despicable, despicable man.

I tend to agree with this. They’re looking for an excuse to prosecute the Bush administration. Also, I believe that’s what Obambi meant about “accountability” for the shootings at Fort Hood. This is typical of communist regimes. Prosecute those before you to send a message to any that might oppose you.

Not only that, but as another FReeper said earlier today, this is great cover as the MSM covers these “trials” and Obama, Pelosi and Reid try to force Cap & Tax, healthcare and another bailout through while the sheeple are watching the biggest legal spectacle since OJ.

There are several reasons that Obama is doing this, and it has nothing to do with justice. First, he wants to shift all the attention away from himself. Secondly, he wants to appease the liberal fringe groups of the Democratic Party. and Third, he wants to embarrass Bush and our military. The MSM will eat all of this up and it will suck all the oxygen out of the news for months. It could come back to hurt him.

Sorry, but that sounds like the nonsense the liberals were spouting about Bush during the last administration. Sounds just as silly when our side says it.

Here is a prediction you all can take to the bank.

If the terrorists attack NYC during the trial and Americans are killed. Obama does last in office more than 3 months afterward. Especially if the House is taken back in 2010.

The calls for Obama to step down will come from both parties because the American People will turn on all of Washington DC so fast that it will scare the politiclowns to death.

If they refuse to take up impeachment then armed insurrection will ensue and God Help us all!

Here is hoping the terrorists do not attack, but Dear God I can't think of a more perfect scenario for those evil bastards then to take out the Courthouse where the trial is held and make all those terrorists martyrs and kill innocent civilians in the process.

Absolutely! That is exactly what this is all about.

And .. I think it will include an attack upon the CIA, as well as the military at Gitmo.

My real concern is this trial is just a set-up for the perfect storm. By that I mean .. what better timing to release a dirty bomb in NYC than when the 10 terrorists are right there. These terrorists love death .. and another attack on NYC is right up their alley. I am fully persuaded the terrorists have been planning this for years .. and this timing could not be better for them.

I have family and friends in the NY area, so this is very personally scary for me.

It's like Obama just put a "Kick Me" sign on New York.

There is great benefit to Obama to bring this whole thing to US civilian courts.

#1: The defense lawyers, paid for by us, will get to trot out every weird defense claim, and of course, the tinfoil hat crowd will accept some as gospel.

#2: Most evidence will be forbidden as it was not obtained after Miranda warnings, etc.

#3: Lawyers will demand access to highly classified intelligence sources and materiel, and then, of course, share it with their clients.... and the media.

#4: All the terrorists have to do is get one juror to be afraid of personal reprisals and you get a hung jury.

#5: Best of all for Obama, he gets to put the entire US intelligence community and it’s methods on trial, as he so wants to do to destroy them, and the defense lawyers will do it for him.

Is there anyone with two brain cells who does not realize Obama wants to destroy America?

Obama administration is working toward a situation where they will be afraid of being prosecuted themselves if they ever lose power. Thus they will do everything possible to not lose power. It’s an old game, but not an American game.

I agree and fully expect it will. Aside from all the preposterous aspects of this circus trial, so wrong on numerous levels, 0 miscalculates the effect it will have on the American people. The can of worms could rip us apart, creating a riff that will be even harder to heal.

If it turns into a Bush trial, I imagine 0 will refuse to comment on the case. Even if he expresses dismay over it, he’ll still allow it to go through. Meanwhile, the country will have to endure it instead of moving forward - this isn’t ‘change’, it’s reliving a nightmare.

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his accomplices could end up targeting the Bush administration and its anti-terror policies.

And the prosecution would have to refute what the defendants claim or lose the case. Mr. Holder, why did you investigate the CIA and it's actions at Guantanamo? LOL - 0bama did not think this through.

This guy is a narcissist .. and this type of person NEEDS to be the center of attention .. so why would he want to shift attention away from himself. I don’t see that happening. The guy is on TV EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK.

The appeaser in chief wants to bury the CIA once and for all. This seems ironic to me since the Clintons spent years stacking the offices with their supporters.

The difficulty is .. the people surrounding the President make the stuff we’re spouting much more believable.

And .. if there is another attack on NYC while the 10 terrorists are there .. could Obama declare martial law and remain in office ..?? The radicals supporting Obama surely suggest he would be open to that .. what with the new energy policy which would allow Obama to take control OF ANYTHING. This guy is really scary.

Since most of the country disagrees with KSM, et al., being tried here, disagree that water-boarding is torture, and disagree with Gitmo being closed, going after the Bush administration seems like a politically stupid thing to do unless all you’re worried about is shoring up your base.

With each one of these moves, zero alienates more and more Americans. This will sink him further in the polls. Most independents and even moderate rats believe that Bush did a good job of protecting us and took his role as CinC very seriously. They know it was far from a political game to him.

I tend to agree...IMHO, we are headed for a Chavez-type regime. Comparing Bush to Obama is comparing apples to “radical” oranges, i.e., Bush didn’t surround himself with communists, marxists, maoists, socialists. Bush never planned to create his own “civilian army”, nor did he “indoctrinate” by using his position to access almost daily TV coverage. He didn’t set up a website for citizens to snitch on citizens. He never vowed to “fundamentally transform” our country and he certainly never espoused “redistributive change”. At the rate we are going, 2012 seems a very long way off and I’m not convinced that for the first time in history, some “crisis” won’t precipitate the “postponement” of elections.

Next year is an election year. Obama and the Dems will use this trial as a campaign tool. Every time the Dems’ campaign needs a lift, they will release information about Bush and Cheney and the CIA. Secrets will be leaked, tapes and videos will be made public. It will be a kangaroo court used to further discredit Bush and Republicans.

Once having taken this step Zero HAS to end elections and any chance he will ever be out of power. Once he has established the precedent that prior administrations be excoriated through the judicial process he cannot risk having his actions exposed in similar fashion for what he and his Marxist friends have done is far worse than any prior administration. This is Zero's signal that he is confident that he has successfully "transformed America forever."

Guilliani agrees with you - he said Obama was painting NY with a big target.

It's almost as if it was done deliberately for purposes of incitement. Why make such an announcement a week after the attack on Fort Hood? He had to have seen the radical muslims on the streets of NYC praising the actions of hasan last weekend. He is creating a potentially explosive situation. It's irresponsible, and as Giuliani said, unnecessary.

It could come back to hurt him.

When Eric Holder first announced his "justice probe" against CIA agents several weeks ago, and astute columnist (I don't have the link right now) predicted the entire script:

1. Obama has to appease the kook left who are still rabid that GW Bush fought back against Muslim terrorists

2. Obama and Eric Holder would shift the trials from military to civilian courts, where the left wing loonies could have an open forum to atttack Bush, Republicans, the military, FBI, CIA, etc.

3. Obama would also use "world court" agencies to do his bidding for him, and then would stand back and deny he was doing this to avoid the public backlash

So far, Hussein is following this script to a T.

He has to appease this disgusting crowd, who are mostly also militant atheists and rabid socialists.

What could happen, is another attack (i.e. Fort Hood) that changes the equation, and forces the general public to focus again on what terrorism (specifically the Muslims) are all about.

Right now, New Yorkers are livid. You don't want to pi$$ off NYC firefighters or cops, and their families. Hussein has done just that.

Voters are increasingly turned off, and Michelle and Obama are still having "Conga Nite Wed" in the White House.
