Gov. David Paterson openly criticized the White House on Monday, saying he thought it was a terrible idea to move alleged 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four other suspected terrorists to New York for trial.

I am gaining a modicum of respect for Gov. Paterson. He was right on this one and his recent denouncement of the state legislature for their unwillingness to deal with the budget deficit. He still shoots himself in the foot once in a while....
I don’t like Patterson, but I would advise him to avoid Ft Marcie Park—or where ever zero buries his victims.

If the judge denies the defense motion for a new venue it will make any trial the most preposterous farce in United States history.
How did reporter Marcia Kramer come to that conclusion? Did she do a poll? I haven't met any Democrats who support this cockamamie idea. Either she's making this up, or she's spouting what her Washington sources tell her to say.
This is one decision where I think Obama is driving hard left and his party's moderates aren't blindly following (no pun intended).

There have been plenty of Dems and Dem pundits on Fox pushing for this idea like it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. And Marcia Kramer is usually quite good.
But Holder said on Friday that Paterson agreed to this. From a Friday Washington Post article outlining Holder’s decision-making process:
“Another factor loomed: New York Gov. David A. Paterson (D), New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg (I) and Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly all said they supported the detainees’ transfer to the city, as did Sen. Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.). “

Dem pundits will say anything.
Admittedly, this is just my impression based on people I know and things I’ve heard around town (L.A. is a pretty good barometer of Democrat opinion), I suspect upwards of 75% of America disagrees with this decision. Numbers that high would have to include a lot of Democrats. On this, I don’t think Obama is representing the mainstream of his party.
I don’t follow Marcia Kramer. But she didn’t cite a poll. So I have to believe she (like me) is just basing her statement on people she knows or talks to. Not necessarily a representative sample of the Dem party.
Holder is an idiot. Can’t wait to here Obama’s version of WHY NYC..... but that would take a media that was looking out for the best interests of the country and the first ammendment.... So... no one will ask...

Obama's remark about Paterson when it happened, seemed to come out of the blue.
Maybe, Paterson knew this was about to happen and maybe Patterson had made his objections known at the time.

Impressive. Since he was thrust into the governorship by Spitzer’s ignominious exit, he’s come out talking sense pretty often. I’d trade him for Schwarzenegger. And he’s overcome a lot in his life; gotta respect that.

My God - I thought I was the only one.
He’s still a goof, but in a recent commercial he finally talked tough and forced me to admit a small but grudging admiration that he was finally pushing back.
I’ll never vote for him or agree with his politics, but he was getting badly bullied, and I hate that.
Paterson wouldn’t care; he’s struck me as a plenty tough dude. And though he’s a little awkward-looking in the way that blind people sometimes are, it hasn’t held him back with the ladies. One of the first kerfuffles of his administration is when he admitted that he’d had affairs. His wife has too.
Shrug. But he’s got more sense than your typical amoral ‘rat, and brass ones for taking on The Messiah.
I don’t know about that painted-looking hair though. It does look... painted, in that picture you posted. In other photos, not so much.
Patterson has let an important fact out of the bag and it will be interesting to see if Gibbs is bombarded with questions about it tomorrow.
