Somebody explain it to me.
I want a shotgun for Christmas.
“Somebody explain it to me.”
Can’t...laughing and antler dancing around the room too much...
Well, as short as that was, it was still lots of fun.
Doesn’t look current though.Wonder when it was done?
Musically it comes across as a strange mixture of Polka and Klezmer\
which is fine by me.

Looks like a heck of a party....
“Doesnt look current though.Wonder when it was done?”
Christmas of 2009...since it is Christmas, let’s say it is currant...yeah, polka and klezmer sounds right...Bobby Zimmerman strikes...Klezmer came up in spell check but had no suggestion that corrected it...hahahahaha....
I’ll chip in to buy a decent set of lights. The thing is too dark!
Otherwise - love it! Bob and Santa.
Can anything he ever does or sings ever really be explained?
It is what it is, as always.

Fun! A new song to learn with the grandkids.
Dylan, constantly surprising. A total original.
“Ill chip in to buy a decent set of lights. The thing is too dark!”
His house in NY, I think...
If you have a sense of pitch or appreciate a good voice it's painful
“The ghost of electricity howls in the bones of your face...”
I love this guy... hell of an artist and part of my youth. I was afraid the lyrics would be some kind of an insult to Christmas... but no, nice lyrics, great music. Way to go Bobby! :)
Bob Dylan Must Be Santa lyrics
Who’s got a beard
That’s long and white?
Santa’s got a beard
That’s long and white
Who comes around
On a special night?
Santa comes around
On a special night
Special night
Beard that’s white
Must be Santa
Must be Santa
Must be Santa
Santa Claus
Who wears boots
And a suit of red?
Santa wears boots
And a suit of red
Who wears a long cap
On his head?
Santa wears a long cap
On his head
Cap on head
Suit that’s red
Special night
Beard that’s white
Must be Santa
Must be Santa
Must be Santa
Santa Claus
Who’s got a big red
Cherry nose?
Santa’s got a big red
Cherry nose
Who laughs this way
Ho, ho, ho?
Santa laughs this way
Ho, ho, ho
Ho, ho, ho
Cherry nose
Cap on head
Suit that’s red
Special night
Beard that’s white
Must be Santa
Must be Santa
Must be Santa
Santa Claus
Who very soon
Will come our way?
Santa very soon
Will come our way
Eight little reindeer
Pull his sleigh
Santa’s little reindeer
Pull his sleigh
Reindeer sleigh
Come our way
Ho, ho, ho
Cherry nose
Cap on head
Suit that’s red
Special night
Beard that’s white
Must be Santa
Must be Santa
Must be Santa
Santa Claus
Dasher, Dancer
Prancer, Vixen
Comet, Cupid
Donner
And Blitzen
Reindeer sleigh
Come our way
Ho, ho, ho
Cherry nose
Cap on head
Suit that’s red
Special night
Beard that’s white
Must be Santa
Must be Santa
Must be Santa
Santa Claus
Yeah...already sent it to mine...will be singing it with the ones that live near me this weekend...
NO WAY would I send you something that insulted Christmas...
Absolutely bizarre. The guy is definitely an original.
Before the battle breaks out over Bob Dylan, I just have to say that I LOVE THAT SONG and that whatever else you think about him, you have to admit he has a finely tuned sense of humor. Thanks for the video link.
Aha. It’s not Klezmer, it is Norteña. The accordion player is the guy from Los Lobos. But yes, it is a whole lot of fun. It has to be current, because they just released the CD last month.
tip of the hat...anonymously...
Dylan is donating the proceeds to help feed the hungry.
Excellent! Thanks.
I LOVED the song... Sounds like a POLKA to me. In all honesty I did not understand the lyrics from listening to song (This is common with non-native "Americanos.") Well, At least I don't understand most of the popular music today... But then again, I don't like it anyway.
Again, glad to see BOY DYLAN is still kicking around, making happy music and still has the class of a great artist! :)
This guy is easy in the top three of my generation: Beatles, Rolling Stones and Dylan... Then the rest.... (no arguments please!:)
ping for later.
We’ll sing it in our church on Christmas Eve at midnight!
“Well sing it in our church on Christmas Eve at midnight!”
Try to get a German Klezmer band for backup!

It sounds like polka because the Germans and the Czechs who settled in Texas brought their music, and it melded with the Mexican folk music there, and in Northern Mexico, to become musica Norteña. That is a Mexican musician (actually he’s from LA) playing the “polka.”
Oh that is right!... Musica norteNa and Polka are very close. In fact I know a couple originally from Nuevo Laredo in Texas. She is from Spanish parents and he was German / Mexican (mother). He was a teacher at SDSU (San Diego) and was crazy about M NorteNa among other things....
I adore Norteña but can’t take Banda for more than 2 minutes. Go figure.
