Palin on the Democratic Party: "Filled with More Sheep-Like Individuals"
Weekly Standard ^ | November 18, 2009 | Matthew Continetti

Posted on 11/18/2009 4:51:57 PM PST by SolidWood

In my interview with Governor Palin yesterday evening, we touched briefly on some current events, including President Obama's trip to Asia and the place of the tea-party movement in the Republican party. Some highlights:

1) I asked Palin about the anti-tax-and-spending tea parties. "I love the tea party movement," she said. "It's beautiful, it's healthy. It's part of that good healthy competition that's needed in a political party." She contrasted the somewhat tumultuous state of the GOP to what's going on in the Democratic party today. "It seems like the Democratic party is filled with more sheep-like individuals, who go along and get along," she said.

I brought up the Senate primary fight in Florida between Governor Charlie Crist and former state house speaker Marco Rubio. Palin isn't ready to make an endorsement. She told me she's just starting to look at the candidates "and see what their positions are." Palin added that she is eager to meet Rubio. She worked with Crist at the Republican Governors Association and thought highly of him. "I hear good things about Rubio, too, though," she added. No question, if Palin decides to endorse a candidate in this race, her influence will be powerful.

2) Would Palin bow or curtsy to the emperor of Japan? "No," she said. She went on to say that Obama's recent bow to the emperor was "symbolic" of the new administration's "apologetic mode of operation." "I'm not comfortable with it, and I don't think most Americans are as well," Palin said.

In other Asia news, Palin expressed a willingness to meet with the Dalai Lama, and said that she was happy to hear that Obama brought up the "abuse of human rights in China" during his visit. But she also said that Obama needs to focus on "getting our house in order." "There are so many things that need to be taken care of domestically," Palin said. The president, in her opinion, ought to "buckle down on the huge challenges facing our country."

3) I was surprised to learn that Palin, who is using social media to speak directly to her supporters, is the only member of the Palin family on Facebook. "Ironically, I banned the kids from using it," she said.

Sarah is so much more diplomatic and class than yours truly.

I constantly refer to them as Jonestown people, but I am glad that she is putting out the message regarding Mark's reference to "the Drones."

"Meh, vote for obama! Hope and change! Change! Hope! Pass the cookies!"

Some are wild-eyed marxists trying to live the dream. Many are just in it for the hand-outs.

The rest are simply too stupid to live. They think they are being chic, or cool, or enlightened. They are just morons.

It’s funny, in a way. We say there are 2 parties, the evil party and the stupid party.

Which is true.

But the evil party is by and large supported by very very stupid people... the evil ones are just calling all the shots.

"She contrasted the somewhat tumultuous state of the GOP to what's going on in the Democratic party today."

Actually, I think that there is more turmoil in the Democratic Party, it just does not get as much coverage. Witness the Progressive wing of the party threatening the Blue Dog Dems with primary battles. Look at what happened to Joe Lieberman in a Democratic Primary. When is the last time that GOP activists ousted a setting Senator in a primary? The facts simply do not support the notion that the Dems are more deferential to their leaders than are the Republicans. I think that it is just the opposite, which is why the Democratic Party is far more worried about pleasing its liberal base that the GOP is about pleasing its conservative base.

“Democratic party is filled with more sheep-like individuals, who go along and get along”

A very simple, very true statement. It’s extraordinary that no one else in the Republican Party would ever dare say this out loud. Shows while she’s on top of the heap. For all of the ranting about “liberals” the Democratic Party is anything but liberal when it comes to straying from the approved doctrines. The Democrats I know generally blurt out verbatim opinions that they’ve lifted straight from Obama, Jon Stewart or the NY Times and have a hard time thinking outside the box.

And they wouldn’t allow Gov. Casey (Democrat, Pennsylvania) to speak at their nat’l convention because he was pro-life. I believe his son is now a Dem. office holder in Pa., and also is pro-life.

Palin looks strong in all these interviews. She’s calling it straight-up. She’ll win quite a few independents in this round.

Bought the book this morning. So far a great read, definately a story about “an American Life”.

Have alot of work to do so not focused enough, will be reading more tonight.

I thought I’d be most intested in policy, internal campaign PC stuff and then her early life and local politics.

But, I’m drawn to the local politics section right now...I’ll be reading it by them versus front-to-back.

The percentage of people who vote do not really follow politics I have heard some strange reasons for why people vote. If they are good looking, I am a democrat and my family has always been a democrat no matter what syndrome. And some people will believe just about anything about the candidates, like Bush, the most terrible things were said about Bush and people truly believed them, they never bothered to check things out for themselves. I believe we need to get people out to vote, the percentage of Americans who vote is depressing.

The leftist/democRats that I know are worse than sheep -

they are “elite worshippers”, putting a religious level of faith in the elite ruling class

that “they know best, and will do the best thing for us, despite the evidence we see”.

I try to put that level of trust in God, but I damn well won’t put that level of trust in any human.
