Palin: 'Jews need a place to live'
Jerusalem ^ | 11/19/09 | JTA

Former US vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin disagrees with the Obama administration's demand that Israel halt settlement construction, although her reason for that opinion is puzzling to some (or at the least demonstrates she's not familiar with the term "natural growth" that much of the debate has revolved around). Palin debates Biden in St....

She told Barbara Walters on ABC's Good Morning America this week that she disagrees with the White House because all the Jews moving to Israel need a place to live.

"I disagree with the Obama administration on that," Palin told Walters. "I believe that the Jewish settlements should be allowed to be expanded upon, because that population of Israel is, is going to grow. More and more Jewish people will be flocking to Israel in the days and weeks and months ahead. And I don't think that the Obama administration has any right to tell Israel that the Jewish settlements cannot expand."

God Bless Sarah Palin..we have a President who despises Israel and sides with the arabs. Sarah stands alongside Israel. She is a breath of fresh air. I have family in Israel who all think she is absolutely wonderful. They hope she visits Israel in the future

She's hitting everything out of the park.

It's impressive to watch.

I agree with you, but watch the large majority of Jews in this country continue to vote for and contribute to the rats.

They’re going to “diss” and snark her all the way to the Oval office.

She’s responding to every mistake Obama makes, establishing her positions, there is no doubt she’s running in 2012.

She’s front and center much more than she would be as Governor of Alaska, she’s running as we speak, and each day putting a lot more distance between herself and the “front runners” Myth Romney, HuckaRINO, etc.

I remember when she resigned last summer. We were with a big group of friends for a picnic lunch and everyone was confused with what Sarah had done. I had just finished reading why she had resigned in her own words rather than what was reported, so I told them she said she was planning on using her freedom to deal with the overwhelming problems facing the country.

She's doing that in spades, and I for one am grateful we have at least one conservative leader that is standing up for what is right.

That’s because the majority of all Jews in this country always vote Democrat, no matter what. I am the exception, I am Jewish and I always vote Republican, been that way since I first started voting in 2000. Many Jewish Americans are NOT pro Israel, they are what you call “Self hating jews” I have a few of them in my own family, who don’t care about Israel. My Moms entire family is from Israel so they have a special bond over there, but my uncle’s kids, they don’t care, its not their priority, even though they have visited Israel. They knew Obama was for the muslims first, but they simply did not care. The whole thing is perplexing

More and more Jewish people will be flocking to Israel in the days and weeks and months ahead.

What does this mean? And what does this have to do with settlements?

It’s an apocalyptic statement that arises from unfortunate “end times” fanaticism.

Baloney. She said what she meant.

She stands by Israel's right to live and prosper, and she stand by their right to expand their setttlements if they so choose.

What about the arabs? Israel is capable of working that out herself, and doesn't need us to tell her what she has to do.

J Street responded... "Palin's pandering to her right-wing base comes at the expense of the security of the State of Israel, the lives of those actually living the conflict, and the fundamental American interest in achieving a two-state solution in the near term,"

Who is J Street? "J Street is a nonprofit advocacy group based in the United States that promotes American leadership to end the Arab-Israeli and Palestinian-Israel conflicts..."

So which is it? Her comments come at the expense of the people living there? Or so says J Street, who doesn't live there and is promoting US leadership and is worried about the impact her remarks will have on US diplomacy...

On the contrary. It is J Street who ignores the people living there and wants to promote the views of outsiders, while Sarah stands for the rights of Israelis to work out their own destiny as they see it.

It was a little puzzling. I think she was pretty much referencing the evanfelical mindset about Israel and Jews gathering there, the coming of the Messiah, etc...

Maybe not 100% clear that the “settlements” are pretty much for Jews who are already in Israel to begin with.

Also, days and weeks and months made it seem as if there’s some imminent mass movement.

I’d think maybe someone who knows a little more about the situation could have a 5 or ten minute conversation with her and bring her up to speed. A nice tutor like Condi was for W. If she wants to go further she will have to be a little more up to speed on things. Still, she never really claimed to know all the intracacies of Israeli politics. Or to be all that much of a policy whiz to start with. More just a gut level feel that Israel is the good guy in the Middle East and we should be generally supportive of them.

Now, I don’t think too many Israelis would agree with that evangelical interpretation. But, they don’t think Jesus is returning anytime soon anyway so it doesn’t really bother the, They’re just happy for support whrever it comes from. They also probably realize that she’d way more supportive of Israel in just about every respect than Obama is, as would any other GOP nominee. So in that regard I’d suspect that they’d help the GOP win in whatever way they can. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the 2 Presidents since Israel was founded who were seen by the Israelis to have turned against Israel(Carter and Bush41)were both defeated for reelection.

She is exactly what we need. Man or woman, she is the best we’ve got, and she dares to say that the emperor is naked.

The left hating and trying to destroy her PROVES that she is what we need in America. We need a leader who is NOT afraid to be hated for saying what is right. Thank you, lefty media. You’ve proven she can take it!

As for Israel, has she met with Bibi yet? Privately, maybe?

People need to focus on something more constructive than “end times” mythology.

Like how to make the world better here and now.

It’s an apocalyptic statement that arises from unfortunate “end times” fanaticism.

The only "unfortunate fanaticism" around Palin is the fervent leftist shill talking points. And the only "end-times apocalypse" is the imminent landslide conservative victories that are terrifying the slanderous Rats.

There has been discussion in my shul about the Europeans who are fleeing to Israel now. Antisemitism is rising in that area and has become rather nasty. I’ve read from bloggers in Europe who’re preparing to leave and are trying to talk their families into getting out now.

Russian Jews have hit Israel hard. (This is actually causing a HUGE problem in Israel. A bunch of Russian mobsters have converted and fled to Israel to escape trouble. Israel is cracking down on the Law of Return because of this.)

I do believe that this is what SP is referring to. Jews *are* moving.

No, she’s not talking about end-times prophecy. She’s talking about a present-day political shift in Europe and Russia.

Heck, only a couple of weeks ago I was noting that American Jews may find themselves in a less-than-cozy situation before too long.
