Global Warming’s Blue Dress Moment? The CRU EMail Hack Scandal WooHOO!!
roy spencer ^ | 11/20/2009 | dr roy spencer

The recent hacking of the University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit (CRU) computer system has led to the release of hundreds, if not thousands, of e-mails which — if real — reveal the tactics and motivations of some of the top Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) scientists. I hesitate to name names, but there are several websites now buzzing with all of the details and sample e-mails. The e-mails I have seen appear genuine, with obscure scientific details and language that would take considerable effort to create as part of a hoax.

While it is too early to tell just yet, there seems to be considerable damning evidence that data have been hidden or destroyed to avoid Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) data requests; data have been manipulated in order to get results that best suit the pro-anthropogenic global warming agenda of the IPCC; e-mails that contain incriminating discussions are being deleted. And, on the bright side, we skeptics seem to be quite a thorn in the side of the IPCC.

In reading these e-mails from the ‘other side’ of the scientific debate I am particularly amazed at the mindset of a few of these scientists. I exchange e-mails with other like-minded (read ‘skeptical’) scientists, as do the IPCC scientists with their peers. But never do I hear of anyone manipulating climate data to achieve a certain end. I must say that I am pleased to see that NCAR scientist Kevin Trenberth admits that it is a “travesty” that no one can explain the lack of global warming in recent years.

The mainstream skeptics are now going on record. This is going to get ugly for Manbearpig Al Gore and his allies very quickly.

As of this writing, the BBC is the first mainstream news source to cover the story. But instead of discussing the content of any of the e-mails, the BBC is focusing on the illegal nature of the computer system breach. An expert was quoted who alluded to the contentious nature of the global warming debate, and how both sides would resort to tricks to help their side.

That’s pretty rich. If the hacked e-mails — with incriminating content — just happened to be Sarah Palin’s, does ANYONE believe that news reports would avoid disclosing the content of those e-mails?

Rush Limbaugh is talking about this right now. He said details could be found on Climate Depot, but the server is busy.

OK, now that El Rushbo is on the case, maybe Matt Drudge will grow some balls and post. I have sent him stories from WSJ, BBC, Guardian UK, and Telegraph about this.

Rush should point people to BBC or another big entity to get the story out. Climateaudit.org has basically crashed since last night when the story went viral. The traffic there is huge. Wattsupwiththat.com is another good source.

Just what we all knew... humans are too puny to affect the climate but NOT too puny to manipulate facts for socialist politics.

Ho hum... what else is new?

Here are two places you can get the files. One by torrent and one a straight download, respectively.

Downloaded earlier today. If these things are legit, this is a massive fraud on the AGW’s part (no surprise to us) and blatant conspiracy. I doubt Holder would have the balls though to explore RICO charges. It was all about manipulating data to get the largest grants possible and to, basically, extort money from companies. There also are some indications they were investing and positioning into companies that would benefit from their fraud. Worst of all, it wasn’t like they were tricked. This is about as blatant as you can get.

One quote from an email titled “Fishers” - “The elevation corrected south GRIP Holocene has a very strong
negative delta trend in it and I expect there should be some correction done to the north GRIP record too,, eventually I think they should all come out looking like our records from Northern Canada. Now at least ice core records have some low frequencies to correct... not like your bloody trees that can not remember one century to the next”

This email outlines blatant changing of data in order to make it fit with the result they want. They admit the data they collected trends against the results they want but to ‘preserve their funding’ they need to “correct the data”.

The Global Warming “scientists” are OH so BUSTED:

Hi Phil,

Thanks—we know that. The point is simply that if we want to talk about about a meaningful “2009” anomaly, every additional month that is available from which to calculate an annual mean makes the number more credible. We already have this for GISTEMP, but have been awaiting HadCRU to be able to do a more decisive update of the status of the disingenuous “globe is cooling” contrarian talking point,

Yep, there’s not much Federal or International funding to DISprove Global Warming, now is there?

This is not about "preserving mother earth." This is about these “scientists” lying to “preserve their funding”. Just like the Capitalists they disdain — this is all about MONEY and preserving their cash flow!

Climatic Research Unit

What ELSE have the Climate Research Unit Scientists lied about?!

Except Capitalists have to produce a product/service/good that someone wants to consume in order to make their evil money. These folks are basically extorting it.

Sorry to throw a wet blanket on the celebration, but it was wrong when the baby-democrat-thug hacked Sarah Palin’s email, and it was wrong to hack these emails. The person who did it has committed a crime and should (and probably will) be prosecuted. That said, I will not mind if our scientists both lose credibility as they so richly deserve and become (shocking suggestion) scientific in their future research to avoid a repeat of this embarrassment.

Do you know if we have one main thread to analyze these documents?

No one is saying that the hackers shouldn’t be prosecuted, however, it appears that there also should be a much bigger fraud and RICO prosecution going on in light of these findings.

I wish I could print out those emails and duck tape them to Newt Gingrich’s head.

I wouldn’t waste duct tape on Newt, duct take has too many good uses, unlike Newt.

This seems to be the thread with the most posts:

This thread is smaller but has good analysis too:

Thank you. I wasn't sure people had noticed the (much milder) crime on the other side. As for prosecution, I don't think friends of Al Gore and of our Dear Leader have much to worry about. Unfortunately.

I hope this is all true and not a hoax. They say 1,097 e-mails, 60+ docs compliling over 65 megs of data.

I would like to see the entire file. But so far, only bits and peices are being made public. Bits and peices could be manufactured. I saw the interview but don’t know the guy confirming they had been hacked.
