Global Warming’s Blue Dress Moment? The CRU EMail Hack Scandal WooHOO!!
roy spencer ^ | 11/20/2009 | dr roy spencer

The recent hacking of the University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit (CRU) computer system has led to the release of hundreds, if not thousands, of e-mails which — if real — reveal the tactics and motivations of some of the top Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) scientists. I hesitate to name names, but there are several websites now buzzing with all of the details and sample e-mails. The e-mails I have seen appear genuine, with obscure scientific details and language that would take considerable effort to create as part of a hoax.

While it is too early to tell just yet, there seems to be considerable damning evidence that data have been hidden or destroyed to avoid Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) data requests; data have been manipulated in order to get results that best suit the pro-anthropogenic global warming agenda of the IPCC; e-mails that contain incriminating discussions are being deleted. And, on the bright side, we skeptics seem to be quite a thorn in the side of the IPCC.

In reading these e-mails from the ‘other side’ of the scientific debate I am particularly amazed at the mindset of a few of these scientists. I exchange e-mails with other like-minded (read ‘skeptical’) scientists, as do the IPCC scientists with their peers. But never do I hear of anyone manipulating climate data to achieve a certain end. I must say that I am pleased to see that NCAR scientist Kevin Trenberth admits that it is a “travesty” that no one can explain the lack of global warming in recent years.

I would like to see the entire file. But so far, only bits and peices are being made public.

Download it then. It's all over. I downloaded it this morning. It's packed full of stuff.

Sorry to throw a wet blanket on the celebration, but it was wrong when the baby-democrat-thug hacked Sarah Palin’s email, and it was wrong to hack these emails.

They'd walk under a necessity defense of I were on their jury. These are professors working for public universities with grants from the taxpayers. Every word they write while on the job is subject to inspection by anybody who cares to demand it, but these guys were stonewalling.

This is an enormously important victory.

I am going to go ahead and dissagree with you here. If the intent was personal distruction and malice, this would be an agregious act. Instead, this alleged crime was perpetrated to uncover another alleged crime, FRAUD! The biggest of all time.

Authorities often must bend the law to prove crime. FBI sells or buys drugs. Undercover Cops pose as Hooker's to catch thieves. Whole communities announce a prize won to attact warranties.

Ordinarily, I’d agree with you. However, these “scientists” appear to have been breaking the law by destroying information requested via FOIA. What these so-called scientists were doing is part of a much bigger crime, IMO.

BTW, I don’t think the ACORN hidden camera crew ought to be prosecuted in Maryland, either. They also uncovered a serious crime.

Looks like the initial response from the AGW community is up:

Technically it was also wrong for Giles and O'Keefe to record the ACORN crooks without their knowledge. But, when all our politicians, and law enforcement, and the media are so weak and corrupt that they are complicit in all the lawlessness we see right before our eyes, what are we supposed to do?

Their refusal to do their damn jobs will destroy us. So, people are beginning to take the law into their own hands.

I personally hope that every one of the leftist who invested billions into this scam end up losing most of their money. IMHO that would be poetic justice since they tried to defraud all of us with higher taxes for something that can’t be controlled.

The Blue-Dress Moment May Have Arrived   [Chris Horner]

I am not able to fully digest this at present, catching up with the boys from days away and then up at O-Dark-Thirty for a flight to California for a talk, but check out what Anthony Watts among others have posted.

Now, none of us can attest to the validity of what has been posted on a Russian server (nor can we even be sure of how it was obtained, though it purports to be non-classified data held by a purely public agency subject to freedom of information/transparency laws). But I'm told it's almost 61 megabytes of files, and after a few days of scrutiny appears (to the kind of people who would know) to be legitimate. And very revealing, both the data and what are represented to be comments and admissions by leading lights on Team Alarmist.

If legit, this apparently devastating series of revelations will be very hard for the media to ignore. I didn't say impossible — they're fully vested partners in the global warming industry, because catastrophism sells. But so does scandal, and this appears to be the makings of a very big one. Imagine this sort of news coming in the field of AIDS research. Then reflect that the taxpayer spends more on climate-related research than on the entire suite of AIDS programs, far beyond drug research.

“OK, now that El Rushbo is on the case, maybe Matt Drudge will grow some balls and post. I have sent him stories from WSJ, BBC, Guardian UK, and Telegraph about this.”

Failure to report this will demonstrate for sure who is on the treason propaganda payroll list.
