FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. (Nov. 20, 2009) A Missouri National Guardsman in training to become a military truck driver faces charges of making a terrorist threat in a school near Whiteman Air Force Base. According to court records, the trainee, Pfc. Michael John Frederick, 19, went into a Sedalia high school during a Saturday evening event and told the superintendent that the Army had told him to warn area schools that escaped prisoners might be trying to kidnap students. Frederick was wearing his military uniform when he made his warning about escaped inmates. However, there were no escaped inmates and he hadnt received an order from the Army to warn school personnel. In fact, Frederick was absent without leave from the 58th Transportation Battalion at Fort Leonard Wood. Frederick had completed his basic training and was in the advanced individual training portion of his preparation for military service. It wasnt immediately clear from Fort Leonard Wood or Missouri National Guard sources how long Frederick had been AWOL. Trainees in AIT have greater privileges after completing basic training.

“You see, it’s not just Muslims who are terrorizing our institutions”
Chris Matthews for sure next Monday night on Softball.
This guy was definitely not insane and definitely a member of some right wing militia group, Major Hasan Not a terrorist.... This guy certainly is if he even looked at a don;t tread on me bumper sticker....
I would imagine this is what the OSM is thinking...
Either that or they will go: “See, See the troops are cracking first Hasan and now this guy, we need to de-teeth them even more....”
False statements, AWOL, but terrorist threats?
Both the AWOL Wienie and the authorities.
Charged with terrorism? What a laugh. He likely was looking for a date.
Political correctness is cursing everyone.
And Hassan wasn’t charged with terrorism after killing 14?
America had better get ready to protect itself. Looks like the army won’t be able to.
Darn good thing they found out he was looney before he killed someone.
Was beer involved in this?
“...was in the advanced individual training portion of his preparation for military service.
It wasnt immediately clear from Fort Leonard Wood or Missouri National Guard sources how long Frederick had been AWOL. Trainees in AIT have greater privileges after completing basic training, and in Fredericks case, he was a Kansas City resident and was still a member of the Missouri National Guards recruit sustainment program in St. Joseph.
According to Missouri National Guard spokesman Matthew Wilson, Frederick joined the Missouri National Guard in February 2008.”
HE WAS IN THE ARMY ALMOST TWO YEARS AND HAD NOT COMPLETED A.I.T.? What is taking him so long? Most of us old timers were in and out of Basic and A.I.T. in 1bout 16 weeks!
Someone was scrapping the bottom of the barrel on this one.
1966 for me.
I don't condone what the kid did, but a terrorist threat!
Interesting how quickly they use that term in some instances and how reluctant they are to use it in others....
THE Clinical diagnosis is PPP...Piss Poor Protoplasm.
So this guy is a terrorist and the guy who killed 13 people wounded 30 something more while shouting Alla Akbar is just a victim of post traumatic stress disorder?
All your female students are belong to me!
Another story diminishing the impact of the term of the word.
I fail to see how this is anywhere close to “terrorist threat”.
Lying, yes; or incitement to chaos, but “threat”?
Living proof the authorities wouldn’t know a terrorist till he walked up and kicked them in the A$$.
That would preclude him from being a terrorist.
See, this just goes to show ya, non-Moslems are a MUCH GREATER THREAT. /sarc
They have no problem calling an Anglo American a terrorist but just can’t get themselves to say that a Muslim who murders 13 people and attempts to murder dozens more while yelling “Allahu Akbar!” is also a terrorist.
If you are a Muslim and you threaten to go onto a Military base and shoot 54 soldiers while yelling Allah Akbar, that cannot possibly be a “terrorist” threat, since the US Government has declared that a Muslim going onto a military base and shooting 54 soldiers while yelling “Allah Akbar” is NOT a “terrorist act.”
He’s lucky only state lunacy, not federal. Read the story for detail on the terroristic threat definition.
Forget charging him with “Terrorism” — Hassan is a TRAITOR, is he NOT? He waged war against US soldiers on a US base, and was also a member of Obama’s Homeland Security Panel. He was advising the PRESIDENT on how to catch people like HIMSELF! I honestly believe he should be tried for treason. I think this would legally qualify a charge of treason, but I am not a lawyer so I could be wrong...
I'll betcha this guy voted for a Muslim last year, though.
Hell , he could have been executed for treason by the officer who apprehended him IF she had been a military officer above enlisted rank.
No , this idiot will be given life in prison, where he will linger on for 50 years, with health care provided by the US tax payer.
Obama will do what he can to make sure this is what happens.
He didn't really threaten or endanger anyone did he?
Oh, how I wish his name was Smith. /sarc
When those who regret their choice to join the military do dumb things to get out, I always think about Biblical military criteria. Interesting study.
Yup, he’s got the right look for a terrorist, and I am NOT profiling! /sarc
Would you add me to your ping list? THANKS!
No problem, but be warned, it’s A) a small list, B) it has no set topic (a little bit of everything, including my stupid jokes and what I like to call whimsy), and C) heavy, heavy volume. :’) Welcome aboard!
Works for me! I just notice you’re on a lot of threads I read! :-)

The active-duty and National Guard public affairs people haven’t yet released a lot of details, but it would not be uncommon for a National Guard enlistee to finish his basic training between his junior and senior years of high school, and then come back for his advanced individual training after graduation. But right now I do not have an answer to your question.
Sorry. I missed the part about him joining while still in High School.
