Hacked Emails Show Climate Science Ridden with Rancor

The picture that emerges of prominent climate-change scientists from the more than 3,000 documents and emails accessed by hackers and put on the Internet this week is one of professional backbiting and questionable scientific practices. It could undermine the idea that the science of man-made global warming is entirely settled just weeks before a crucial climate-change summit.

Researchers at the Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, England, were victims of a cyberattack by hackers sometime Thursday. A collection of emails dating back to the mid-1990s as well as scientific documents were splashed across the Internet. University officials confirmed the hacker attack, but couldn't immediately confirm the authenticity of all the documents posted on the Internet.

The publicly posted material includes years of correspondence among leading climate researchers, most of whom participate in the preparation of climate-change reports for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the authoritative summaries of global climate science that influence policy makers around the world.

The most important thing that these emails are conclusive on is the fact that these researchers had an agenda to promote Human Induced Global Warming.

Again and Again, efforts were undertaken with the collaboration of Journalists, Other Scientists, and Scientific Journals to marginalize any dissenting views or research that tended to either minimize the impact of Human Activities or the Urgency of the Action being Promoted.

This is the greatest scientific scandal of all time where science crossed into the public political arena instead of just sticking to the science.

Given that billions of dollars have been spent as a result of the fraud, and trillions were slated to be, people should be sent to prison for life, if not executed, for these crimes. Consider the fate of Madoff - prison for 150 years, for a few billion in fraud. We’re talking many times that here, already spent.

It has been obvious these loons had an agenda from day 1, but it is good to have solid validation. Logic isn’t enough to convince some.

But that's not the official news from NOBEL PRIZE WINNER Al Gore...

After all, he is the left's man of science...

Oh my...

News Dispatches from Planet Gore:

The Polar Ice Cap Will Be GONE in 5 Years!"
Click on the image below to see Al Gore claim that the polar ice cap will vanish in five years!

"The center of the Earth is extremely hot, several million degrees..."

Click on the image above to see the Gore proclaim that the center of the earth is millions of degrees.
(It is not. The center of the earth is only estimated to be between 4000 and 6000 degrees.)

Definitely. I've read through many of the emails. The amount of time they spend "spinning" in response to skeptics is amazing. The general tone of the "cya" nature of this supposed "research organization" is being WAY under reported - how about this gem from Michael Mann - the Godfather of the Hockey Stick graph:

There is no “Climate Science”. There is only science of all sorts that can be applied to the Climate. That human caused CO2 emissions are driving whatever is happening to the various surface temperatures (local, seasonal, daily, ocean, city land, farmland, forests, deserts, etc) is not even proven statistically, much less causally. It’s still all hand and arm waving.

How on God’s green earth can someone who claims that the earth is “several million degrees” be taken seriously?

Fanatic behavior.

It is certain that intent to sell wrong ideas, is INTENDED for EVIL. Very like what the government is doing to us now. BIG GOVERNMENT in control of all. MO

God help us in our day, in Jesus name, amen.

wow! He’s the most smug condescending frauds then. I remember the MSM called him the “whistle blower” a while ago. I guess the whistle’s been blown on him. What has he been revealed saying?

“How on God’s green earth can someone who claims that the earth is “several million degrees” be taken seriously?”

The only way to pull it off is to be a liberal. Lefties would be convulsing with laugher if Bush, for example, said such a thing;)

One thing that bothers me about their methods,

They take multiple proxies that are unrelated that have a similar shape and put them together to improve the certainty in their conclusions.

With this approach, you will automatically get a sharper and crisper line when you run your analysis.

The problem is, it doesn’t mean anything, it is a bad statistical practice to take unrelated data and average it together to improve the statistical significance of it. All you are doing is really finding that they are significantly similar, not that the values are correct.

In their minds they have proven that the recent temperatures / rates of increase (of some system they don't really define) are beyond the confidence interval of their understanding of "natural" forcings.

I haven't seen them state a H1 and H0 and prove their correlative (not necessarily causative) case statistically.

"...several million degrees..."

Well, I think he was referring to degrees Gore, part of a new flexible heat measurement system.

The pattern of falsifying appearances began early. Although he works at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), Stephen Schneider was heavily employed in the work of the IPCC as this biography notes.

Much of Schneider’s time is taken up by what he calls his “pro bono day job” for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). He was a Coordinating Lead Author in Working Group II of the IPCC from 1997 to 2001 and a lead author in Working Group I from 1994 to 1996. Currently, he is a Coordinating Lead Author for the controversial chapter on “Assessing Key Vulnerabilities and the Risks from Climate Change,” in short, defining “dangerous” climate change.” - Pubmedcentral.nih.gov

He continued this work by helping prepare the Summary for Policymakers (SPM) of the Fourth Assessment Report (AR4) released in April 2007.

Schneider, among others, created the appearance that the Summary was representative of the Science Report. However, he provides an early insight into the thinking when speaking about global warming to Discovery magazine (October 1989) he said scientists need, “to get some broader based support, to capture the public’s imagination...that, of course, entails getting loads of media coverage. So we have to offer up some scary scenarios, make simplified dramatic statements and make little mention of any doubts we may have...each of us has to decide what the right balance is between being effective, and being honest.” The last sentence is deeply disturbing-there is no decision required.

++++++++++++++

Convulsing with laughter? They’d be calling for his head, demanding he resign (if he were still in office), opposing every other thing he ever said, claiming he were dense and stupid and trumpeting such from every still existing op-ed page in excruciatingly false detail.

Called either Bush Derangement Syndrome or simple Liberal Mental Disorder - whichever you wish.
