Death panels used to exist at dialysis centers, when dialysis machines were too scarce to meet the demand. Well into the sixties, people died from ESRD because there just wasn't enough dialysis time to go around. It is my understanding that, if one experiences renal failure in the UK after reaching age 55, dialysis will not be made available.
Instead, you go home to die.
