(D-CO) Bennet willing to sacrifice seat over health vote
Politico ^ | 11/22/2009 | Josh Gerstein

Posted on 11/22/2009 1:06:58 PM PST by markomalley

Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) said Sunday that he will vote for landmark health care reform legislation even if it means he will be defeated at the polls next November.

"If you get to the final point and you are a critical vote for health care reform, and every piece of evidence tells you, if you support that bill, you will lose your job, would you cast the vote and lose your job? " CNN's John King asked Bennet on the "State of the Union" program.

"Yes," said Bennet, a former Denver public schools chief who was appointed to the Senate by Colorado's governor when President Barack Obama tapped Ken Salazar to be interior secretary.

King warned Bennet that the video of his vow would be sequestered in the event he is voted out next year.

"All right. That tape will be held -- I hate to tell you that, but that tape will be held right now," the CNN host said.

Well, we'll have to see if real Coloradans can help him keep his promise...or if Colorado has been totally overrun by illegals and aging hippies.

Can someone please translate this statement for us non-communists. I'm just not feeling up to all the nuance today.

So he can be a suicide bomber for the Jihad.

From his lips to God's ears.

Just to be clear, when I say, "God", I mean Jehovah, Yahweh, Father of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

That was kind of my thought. They going to bribe every self serving DemoRat Senator in the Congress, only squeak by if they pass it at all, and a lot of them will get voted out, because a huge number of Americans don't want it.

I think they're banking on the fact that, since it won't take effect until 2013-14, they'll get their agenda and their elections, and maybe even get Obama a second term before everyone gets truly pissed off over how bad they got screwed on it. Considering his poll ratings and the fact that Congress' approval is in the 20 percentile range, they're doing nothing but BSing themselves.

I think Bennet is dead regardless of how he votes. My Uncle who lives in Elbert CO has told me he belives at least half of the Coloradans who cast their vote for 0bama wishes they could have a do-over. He also tells me Bennet is very unpopular. So yes, Bennet will vote for the 0bama-Pelosi-Ried Care bill as one final way to stick it to the people.

This reminds me of the Democrats who voted for the tax hike and then were promptly removed and the tax hike repealed. What was accomplished? Why don’t they simply poke themselves in the eye with a pointy stick rather make everyone else miserable?

No, he'll have a soft landing. A bribe worked properly is legal. There is an extensive political language that has been developed for just this purpose.

I have an idea.

A simple idea which should destroy this thing once and for all.

SINGLE-PAYER LEGAL CARE

That’s it. Apply the principles of single payer to lawyers.

Rewrite the 2000 page bill by crossing out “doctors” and writing in “lawyers”.

Mandate the maximum amount lawyers can receive for their services.

See how they like it.

Bennet is an accidental Senator. He's from out of state and was Superintendent of Denver Public Schools when appointed. He has no base. He has to please his party to get funding for reelection even if this vote costs him votes. In the votes versus money equation for a politician, funding is the life blood that allows the campaigning for votes.

Pretty funny a Romanoff replacing a socialist.

Then hopefully a Conservative will win in November.

Bennet has no constituents except the democratic party. He was appointed by Gov. Ritter to do the dems bidding. He’s never faced an election in his life. I hope Jane Norton blows him out of the water and he can go back to the rock he crawled out from underneath.
