ALBANY City Comptroller William C. Thompson Jr., weighing his options in the wake of a surprisingly close loss in the mayoral race, is seriously considering challenging Senator Kirsten E. Gillibrand in next years primary elections, according to people who have spoken to Mr. Thompson and his advisers.
Challenging Senator Gillibrand is one of three options being mulled by Mr. Thompson and his advisers. He is also considering a run against the state comptroller, Thomas P. DiNapoli, in the primaries, or returning to the private sector for now and running again for mayor in 2013.
With the primary 10 months away, he is expected to make a decision on any statewide bid by mid-January at the latest. Those with knowledge of the deliberations between Mr. Thompson and his advisers spoke on the condition of anonymity, because he has not yet decided which course to pursue.

I guess this means that Gillibrand’s flip-flopping was in vain. But more important are what Rudy Giuliani and George Pataki are going to do.
Rudy, surprising me, said he was not interested in being governor, IIRC. I don't see Pataki going for governor again. That means George will have to slay the dragon, Chuck U Schumer. There's plenty of ammo if George has the guts. Still, the GOP has to offer a nominee for governor.
FReepmail me if you want on or off my New York ping list.
Just like Carl McCall before , David Paterson right now, Bill Thompson is the wrong skin color for the New York liberal power broker elites to allow him to run no matter what BS The Slimes writes.
Thanks for the ping!
