Police say a woman went to great lengths to make sure her boss didn't miss his flight Wednesday -- she called in a bomb threat.
Her delay tactics weren't taken lightly.
Police on Thursday arrested Claudia De La Rosa, 31, of Sunny Isles Beach, on a charge of false report of planting a bomb.
Here's what happened, according to the arrest affidavit.
On Wednesday, a call and e-mail came into Miami International Airport, saying in Spanish there was a bomb on an American Airlines plane. It listed the flight number and departure time.
``The flight was delayed while MDPD searched the aircraft and all the luggage,'' the arrest form said.

It’s virtually impossible to send untraceable email, unless you have a bevy of bots at your service. Not that for a second I would condone such a prank.

I notice that they are careful to not say who she worked for.

No, it's easy. Buy a USB WIFI adapter with cash. Add to the laptop of your choice. Go to parking lot of cheap hotel with WIFI and no parking lot cameras away from your neighborhood. Log on, get free Yahoo account or similar. Send e-mail. Leave.
The people in the hotel will be investigated, but you won't. A busy fast food parking lot would be just about as good.
Oh and todd the USB WIFI with the unique MAC ID.

Buy a USB WIFI adapter with cash And get tripped up because you were ID'd when they looked at the checkout video tape. They then watched you get into your car by and grabbed your plate # by looking at the parking lot video.

Last year, IIRC, a guy (a doctor, no less) on his way from Seattle tried the same thing because he was late for his flight. They arrested him at the airport. He was banned from flying.

Or, you could buy several, wait six months to a year before using them, and no tape would exist, or they wouldn’t know were to find it.
Again, not that this sort of thing should be done...

Reminds me of the Friday afternoon telephone bomb threats to the skyscrapers in the financial district. "You might as well go home, boys!"

Of course, you can always find a used wireless network card for your PC at a swap meet .... spend a couple of bucks and walk away .... :)

You can buy a device where the MAC ID is configurable, make it match a long retired 3Com ISA card or just any old random string. Two, you can pick a location where the device is pretty untraceable (e.g. computer trade show with cheap Chinese vendors. I am not even sure the free e-mail gateway people pick up on the MAC ID, that's just being extra careful.

As long as you didn't use it again, sure!
Curse these newfangled compressed keyboards. "d" is next to "s." so I meant to type "toss it." But Todd-ing it is more fun.

I’d bet that in cases like this it would be standard procedure to check at the desk to see which passengers were late.
