Hundreds of patients may have died needlessly at an NHS hospital due to appalling standards of care, a damning report has found.
Poor nursing care, filthy wards and lack of leadership ...
Among the worst failings discovered by the Care Quality Commission were a lack of basic nursing skills, curtains spattered with blood on wards, mould in vital equipment and patients being left in A&E for up to ten hours.
Concerns about death rates at the foundation hospital trust were first raised a year ago, but an internal investigation failed to find anything wrong and managers dismissed the concerns.
But the new report found "systematic failings" in the trust's management, all of whom are still in their jobs. The CQC said its confidence in the management's ability had been 'severely dented'.
The watchdog report comes just months after an investigation into Mid-Staffordshire NHS foundation trust found similar problems, with up to 1,200 avoidable deaths.
Ministers assured patients at the time that it was an isolated incident, but the similarities with the failures at Basildon will raise concerns that there are widespread problems in the NHS.
"We will be reviewing the Trusts performance regularly and in detail - if we dont see measurable results quickly, well take further action.
Michael Large, the chairman of the trust said: That Monitor has found us to be in breach of our terms of authorisation as a Foundation Trust is an extremely serious matter and we do not seek to underestimate its gravity.
I want to reassure our local community that the safety and well-being of our patients is our highest priority."

Best of intentions... destination hell.
Bidding fair to come to your state.
Well what do you know? Pelousy and Duffas Reid health care bills combined into one that looks just like th U.K.’s death care. Aren’t we surprised !!!!
Just say NO to Obama Deathcare and live
“Poor nursing care, filthy wards and lack of leadership...”
...is exactly where we’re headed under 0bamacare. Heck, we’ve already GOT the lack of leadership!
I bet the wealthy and the powerfull don’t have to put up with this sh*t..
Coming to the U.S. soon.
It’s OBAMA CARE!
Exactly.
They can always visit some semi-socialized medicine state where the doctors are allowed to do business on the side.
“I bet the wealthy and the powerfull dont have to put up with this sh*t..”
Dam straight they don’t!
Do you really believe, Reid or Polesi would have this kind of “care”? No way! That’s for the serfs that they drain of money so they can live high off the hog.
well I come form the UK and have family there and I can truly say that Govt health care is crap.
I’ve listed many own personal experiences about it onhere in the past so I won’t go over it again.
Fpr those idiots who think it is great then they need to go over there and live for 5 years and see how they like it.
I bet right now that they will want American health care.
Sounds like the Maxine Waters wing at LA County Hospital.
He'd have done better to keep his yap shut. Insulting statement but it gives areal good idea of just what change is in store (none). This is the inevitable result of socialism. Perhaps we could establish a charity for the establishment of Christian Charity Hospitals in Britain?
I’m in the middle of a long running Facebook debate with a woman I was in college with. She’s a doctor in the US now and is for Obamacare. (She was a Lib 20 years ago too :-)
She did some training in the NHS but even more in Spain. She claims everything is great within the NHS and the doctors were relieved that they were able to push back Margaret Thatcher’s attempt at reform.
Now that even Socialist Spain is trying to privatize their healthcare to try and reign in spending, I see her and her Spanish doctor friends posting links to protest the government minister pushing the reform.
I’m going to post this article on Facebook to chum the waters a bit but I’ll be looking back at your previous posts for more ammo.
And the NHS is politicized and debated....week after week....on the floor of the House of Commons. Things to come, folks. Things to come.
We want to be MORE like Great Britain! </sarc>
Sounds like what the progressives are setting up here.
Obama’s Cr*pCare coming soon to your location!
Smile and eat it or Obama’s Neo-Fascist Party will throw you in prison.
Liberals are often affluent, educated people who are very intelligent idiots.
In the US such bad care would bring lawsuits. Apparently the Brits can even sue the NHS for needless death or suffering.
Coming to a hospital near year in the USA! Thank you Obama and Rats!
Tell her that everything is OK. In the UK....the doctors don’t even need any prior knowledge. They can go to a website provided to them by the government that tells them : What the patient’s symptoms are....when to refer....what drugs to treat with and how much this costs the ‘collective’. I know. A few years ago....my FIL in the UK was exhibiting signs of cancer. I did a LOT of digging and found the ‘open sources’ the NHS provided for ‘health care workers’ online. Ironically.....the websites are ‘locked down’, now.

Dear Governor Perry,
On March 30, 2009 the Texas House of Representatives passed HCR 50 affirming that the State of Texas claims sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment.
You have publicly supported this bill, and stated that attorney generals from all over the union could be getting ready to sue the US Government.
We are asking you to take the lead.
We are asking you to order the Texas Attorney General to publicly begin working on a law suit under Article IV, Ninth, and Tenth Amendment of the Constitution.
We are asking you to protect the citizens of Texas that we will not stand for government controlled healthcare in our state.
Under your leadership we can effectively kill the proposal of this administration and allow Texas to be a state free from socialism and collectivism.
Be the voice of reason in the national debate and allow Texans the ability to solve the problems of our state.
Thank you,

Facts about the 10th Amendment:
The Tenth Amendment (Amendment X) of the United States Constitution, which is part of the Bill of Rights, was ratified on December 15, 1791. The Tenth Amendment restates the Constitutions principle of Federalism by providing that powers not granted to the national government nor prohibited to the states are reserved to the states or the people.
HCR 50 HAS PASSED THE HOUSE 99-36!
Affirming that the State of Texas claims sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the U.S. Constitution, serving notice to the federal government to cease and desist certain mandates, and providing that certain federal legislation be prohibited or repealed.
Take Action! Before it is too late!

REMEMBER THIS,TEXANS:
Feds Have Built Only 32 Miles of 700 Mile Double-Border Fence Originally Mandated by Congress
One reason DHS has been able to do this is an amendment that Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R.-Texas) slipped into an omnibus appropriations bill that Congress passed on December 18, 2007. Hutchisons amendment put a loophole in the fence law that allowed the secretary of Homeland Security not to build the fence Congress had mandated the year before.

REMEMBER THIS WHEN YOU VOTE FOR GOVERNOR
,
My past posts state how my mother had to wait to have surgery for 3 years,
How she had to share a ward with 15 other women and no privacy.
It is like how they were 40 years ago
you'll see and use my posts to tell her how we think that it is not good and how we have a massive shortage of Doc's
BTW
The hospital where my family goes is salford royal but used to be hope hospital
There were 2 hospitals in my city but one closed due to lack of money
That was salford royal and the other was hope(confusing please bear with me.
Salford royal closed when I was a kid years ago and it left hope which was newer then they changed the name recently to salford royal from hope
My Old Doc is Doc talk(not sure on the spelling as he is from hong kong and he has told me and my mam for years how he wants to come over here and get away form the Govt health care but now he has heard how America is going he has changed his mind.
He works out of little hulton
My sister waited months to get a GP which is called here a primary care Doc.
Anyway you'll see my past posts on this and the horrible way the Govt is with health care and if you want to ask more questions please feel free to get in touch as people over here need to know that Govt health care is awful.
Just look at the stats for cancer in the UK and recently this Govt panel just said for women that they do not need to get checked until 50 and every two years
You can bet that it would get worse under the Govt and health care will be rationed.
Here is the biggest myth which folks make.
They say “wow you get free health care “
Well no we do not, we pay though high taxes and still the NHS is underfunded.
nothing is free and you watch taxes go up
anyway any questions you know where I ma and I hope you had a nice thanksgiving.
another thing
many on the left at the time hated Maggie Thatcher because she got a grips of the unions especially the coal miners.
Many now are coming here and i know one mate who did with his wife plus many are now taking out loans to get done for cancer because they do not want to die.
Companies like BUPA.
When my wife was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer, I took her to Sloan-Kettering in NYC for a second opinion (Fortunately, they got it all and she’s doing just fine. She’ll be undergoing radiation as a precaution). All I know is, judging by their accents, most of the other people in the waiting room were either French-Canadian or came from the UK.
