Medical identity theft is on the rise and expected to worsen.

The problem has grown during the recession as more uninsured people use the coverage of a friend, relative or even a stranger to get care. Of particular concern is the fact that most of the fraud is committed by people who pay medical workers for patients' information.

In one case, a front-desk clerk at a medical clinic in Weston, Fla., downloaded the personal information of more than 1,100 Medicare patients and gave it to a cousin, who made $2.8 million in false Medicare claims.

We only see the tip of the iceberg. Just think when we have a new entitlement for everyone (everyone in the world). There are no strict citizenship verification checks in the current health care legislation. It won’t even be a crime for illegals to sign up for health care and receive treatment for feigned illnesses. The illegals can get narcotics for the illnesses and resell them. The illegals can get DME(durable medical equipment) for resale as long as they have a physician prescription. The seller of DMEs (can’t be a physician) can recruit doctors with referrals and gets to bill Medicare. The illegals may also create multiple identities if verification is slack.
As far as ID theft is concerned, I would look for thieves to steal from nursing homes because the greater incidence of dementia. This makes it more difficult to verify whether or not a service was actually rendered.

That’s nothing compared to the millions of Americans that will be denied care and sentenced to die via Pelosi and Reid’s Mengele/DeathCare. Hussein Obama, Reid, and Pelosi want to legalize their very own Holocaust II.

Twice now the doctor has asked for a photocopy of drivers license - according to the credit bureaus, if someone has your DL information, they can get everything else. Another example of an ID rule gone bad.
