"People are discouraged," said Susan Lamont, a Santa Rosa resident who drives a Subaru wagon plastered with bumper stickers.
Donations that fund the nonprofit center were down 10 percent last year and another 20 percent this year, a trend that has crimped budgets for many nonprofit groups. But political activism has also waned, with many on the left now merely signing e-mail petitions, which Lamont considers a "worthless effort."

Be sure to read the comments from the locals, they’re a hoot!
It could be that they are short of funds.
The congruence of liberal and ugly is far too common to be a statistical fluke.
Thanks for posting that photo, truly worth a thousand words.
Now I need an antidote...
Bruce Villanche’s long lost twin.
Peace and Justice here in Nashville was founded by a little Jewish boy from NY ..I think, he gets his m,arching orders from ANSWER and Communist Workers Party but they are able to get local businesses to contribute...or at least used to
straight from Alinsky..
Myself and several other freepers here have countered them several times...there are threads here on it...somewhere...
>She’s a beauty...one in a million girl.
Sir, I have dated girls before, both ugly and hot and that doesn’t resemble a human.
More like you've met one liberal you've met them all.
Funny how collectivists fancy themselves independent minded.
Nice, very nice.
“Funny how collectivists fancy themselves independent minded. “
That’s why I am a card-carrying member of the NEW counter-culture.
LOL — you’re right, the comments are great. The locals have totally pwned that article.
I particularly liked this one:
“We have the most liberal POTUS & Congress in history. They are ramming through the most radical revisions to our economy and society ever attempted. The political opposition has no numerical ability to stop them from passing and enacting anything they desire.
Yet here are the victors; disenchanted; disillusioned and distraught. The hopelessness and despair are almost unbearable.
I love it!
Let this be a teachable moment; when all can see that nothing will ever satisfy the “Worst Generation” short of a total Stalinist revolution, or moving back into Mom’s house.
We are the Woodstock Generation; we are the children of the Age of Aquarius.
Perpetual children indeed.”
I liked that one too.

The usual suspects.
I used to live next to someone in a college dorm who played Holly Near’s “Foolish Notion” loud enough for me to gag and wretch...... and of course the “foolish notion” was not any held by all the smelly disarmament peace-freaks....
[don’t shoot the messenger, folks — I just looked up these lyrics to remark upon the kind of bilge-water “ideas” that these neo-hippies imbibe 24/7/365]:
[Holly Near, “Foolish Notion”]
Why do we kill people who are killing people
To show that killing people is wrong?
What a foolish notion, that war is called devotion
When the greatest warriors
Are the ones who stand for peace
