That was my initial take after seeing a report like that.
Then I began to ask myself how solid that report was.
If he actually provided clemency over 700 times, and a large portion of these WERE NOT simple paroles, that’s astounding.
How could he think that was justified? It sounds as if this guy Huckabee was a soft touch for just about any prisoner that prevailed on him.
The fact that this prisoner wound up back in prison shouldn’t mislead anyone. He was sentence to 98 years or so in prison. If he got out on clemency and screwed up, shouldn’t he have had to serve his full term? He didn’t. Intervention caused him not to have to.
That’s where Huckabee is nailed IMO.
I’m going to agree with that, provided these clemencys were NOT handled at Huckabee’s level. Paroles are handled by the parole board, but I’m not sure how clemencys or commutations are.
I had always thought they were handled out of the Governor’s office, with input from the Parole Board. That’s a little different than the Parole Board sending over paperwork for the Governor to sign, more or less a fate acompli.
The killer is a terrorist. Thank goodness one of the officers was able to get a shot off.
She very well may have been at this event, if she was off duty.

RIP Tina and your three co-workers.
As we say in Hebrew: Hashem yikom damo....May G-d avenge their blood.

Not only a brave cop, but a tea party patriot as well. My curse for her killer.
Tina Griswold was a patriot who died in the name of duty.
If anyone finds a photo of Tina at a TeaParty event I will award you 2 Internets. I have video that would honor her as a patriot in the manner of citizen.
If someone finds one, please let me know.
She was obviously proud to be part of the Tea Party Movement. I am proud to be part of a movement that attracts people like her.
We should honor her as a proud tea party member and a member of the police department who risk their lives daily to protect the rest of us.
Now that, my friend, was a good answer. Thank you.
Sad news.
The number has to hurt him. It shows a kind of sloppy approach.
Prayers for her friends and family.. :-(
An atrocity.
It is beyond getting old that criminals, terrorists etc seem to have more rights..mrb is right, too many good people taken out by monsters. Words just fail me.
DoughtyOne, I think your words speak for all of us, thank you.
Rinos have to be voted out!
Sounds like she was a great lady. So sad her life was taken by that demonic animal who should have never been walking the streets.
All of these threads are turning into discussions of Huckabee, which I think is pointless. He’s not in office anymore and doesn’t even seem inclined to run for office again; meanwhile, there is a judge still in office in WA who granted bail for Clemmons only a couple of months ago...not to mention parole officers in two states who seem to have overlooked everything this guy did for nearly ten years.
That said, this was not a pardon; it was a commutation of the sentence to a lower level that enabled Clemmons to apply for parole. Somehow, even though the head of the parole board was opposed to it, Clemmons was paroled; when he was rearrested only a few months later, he was even paroled again, although supposedly he got out that time because the prosecutors failed to file the paperwork in time (something that unfortunately happens a lot in cases like this).
Clemmons’ case was evidently a big deal in AR at the time, because he was only sixteen when he committed the crimes and 17 when he was tried and sentenced. Those particular crimes appear to have been burglaries, although I don’t know the details. While I do agree that Huckabee was a soft touch for any prisoner, in this case, the usual crowd of black ministers and political activists were out there agitating for Clemmons’ release.
IMHO, the officers who died were the victims of a mindset - in everybody from Huckabee to the various parole boards and judges in between - that sees criminals and prisoners as the true victims and the rest of us not as innocent people in need of protection, but as oppressors. It is a leftwing mentality left over from the old SDS/Black Panther rhetoric that has somehow penetrated our entire criminal justice system.
So Officer Tina’s (don’t know her last name) support for true conservatism is particularly poignant in this case, because it is the opposite attitude that was responsible for her death. If you want to read something heartbreaking, go to the link and read the little descriptions of all the officers.
More violence from the left.
It's getting worse by the day. The hate is really starting to bubble to the surface. Hopey Changey...
