The anti-war left is turning on the president it helped put into office, launching a counteroffensive against President Obama's decision to escalate the war in Afghanistan.
Activist groups are joining liberal members of Congress in condemning the president's expected announcement on Tuesday that he will order roughly 30,000 more troops to the war zone as part of an overhauled strategy to finish what President Bush started eight years ago. Some are urging him not to go through with it -- though the strategy apparently is set in stone, with Obama having issued his final orders to his generals Sunday evening.
"I simply can't believe you're about to do what they say you are going to do," documentary filmmaker Michael Moore said in an open letter to Obama posted on his Web site. Moore warned that Obama would tarnish his legacy, turn away his supporters and effectively crown himself the new "war president" by escalating the war in Afghanistan.
"With just one speech tomorrow night you will turn a multitude of young people who were the backbone of your campaign into disillusioned cynics," Moore wrote. "Your potential decision to expand the war ... will do more to set your legacy in stone than any of the great things you've said and done in your first year.
"For the sake of your presidency, hope, and the future of our nation, stop. For God's sake, stop," Moore wrote.

Since when is commie Michael Moore "anti-war"?
Michael Moore (quote), from his website, April 14, 2004...
"The Iraqis who have risen up against the occupation are not 'insurgents' or 'terrorists' or 'The Enemy.' They are the REVOLUTION, the Minutemen, and their numbers will grow -- and they will win. Get it, Mr. Bush?"
[actual quote from Michael Moore (2004). It still appears on his website]

The Communist Party USA (CPUSA):
"We are a party of unity in action. We are an integral part of every struggle and movement for change to eliminate poverty and joblessness, against racism and for full equality. We are participants, initiators and leaders of every movement to make life better now and much better in a socialist future." Yeah, so they supported an oppressive dictator, like the Repubs and Democrats haven't? The CP is still around, has apologized for that whole Stalin thing, and has a quickly growing youth section.

I wonder how the Nobel Peace Prize committee feels about his decision.
The Ditherer-in-chief has boxed himself into a corner. It’s lose-lose. There is no high-five scenario for him.
Your potential decision to expand the war ... will do more to set your legacy in stone than any of the great things you’ve said and done in your first year.
WTH are the great things Obama has said and done in his first year?
What happened to all the Liberals who said Afghanistan was the important war? That’s all I heard during the Obama campaign.
I thought BushBots were pathetic. But, the Olbermans are pathetic AND stupid. They'll swallow a war they hate for political expedience. How evil can you get?
Hey, the oceans have stopped rising... or something.
“WTH are the great things Obama has said and done in his first year?”
bankrupting the “great Satan”?
I do take a certain amout of satisfaction watching the left eat their own, especially after watching them savage Bush for eight years.
Bon appetit, boys!
Perhaps they are convinced that America (the great evil globalist satan) deserved the attack on 9/11?
I wouldn’t put anything past the worthless liberals. They have no redeeming human qualities. They couldn’t care less about the death of innocent people despite their loud rhetoric.
"Anti-war" my *ss! These SOBs aren't anti-war. They're anti-American, anti-Capitalist. They are all in favor of violence and bloodshed when it comes to leftist uprisings and overthrows. Please stop passing this "aniti-war" BS along. It's bad enough that the useful idiot liberal media does it. We need to more forcibly expose these bastards for what they really are.

Code Pink's Jodie Evans embraces Jane Fonda

November 22, 1970 -- During a fund-raising tour for GI deserters, Vietnam Veterans Against the War and the Black Panthers, Jane Fonda is quoted in the Detroit Free Press as telling a University of Michigan audience:
"I would think that if you understood what communism was, you would hope, you would pray on your knees that we would someday become communist," and "The peace proposal of the Viet Cong is the only honorable, just, possible way to achieve peace in Vietnam."

Fonda made the following statement at the University of Texas:
"We've got to establish a Socialist economic structure that will limit private profit-oriented businesses. Whether the transition is peaceful depends on the way our present governmental leaders react. We must commit our lives to this transition ...... We should be very proud of our new breed of soldier. It's not organized but it's mutiny, and they have every right." --Karen Elliott Dallas Morning News December 11, 1971

FONDA: Obama.
REPORTER 2: Oh, my God. Heaven help us all.

Ever notice how the far left never protests about the lack of jobs?
Yeah - they were going to “fight the real war.”
I'm glad there's no "HOMELESS" anymore! Remember when that was caused by heartless Republicans? /s
It's so Left to think that if you dislike a Left candidate's position it probably is a lie to get votes from the center/right.
Huh? He meant that?
You really have to hand it to the left for trashing Obama, who is taking this nation so far in their direction that we can hardly recognize it these days.
He’s using the Constitution as his door mat, and they can’t see any movement in their direction whatsoever.
Wow...
Never forget to tell each and every one of them (as they try to distance themselves from the teleprompter sock puppet) that the only reason they are saying anything bad about O’Bonghit is that they are foaming at the mouth racist bigots who can’t stand it that a black man is in the white house.
Oh you see through all their code words...
Et Tu, Brute?
I hear ya. Check out the first paragraph of this offering from the New York Times for a shocker.
I was just commenting on it a few minutes ago.

I wonder if Cindy Sheehan will camp out in Chicago.
The “good war” is coming home to roost!
How old is Jane Fonda? 80? I’ll be so glad when these pre-baby boomers fad away. (especially carter) The hippies and pre-boomers have been ruining this country since the 60’s. It’s time for them to feel the wrath liberalism. But, they’ll be the first to bitch and moan about the exact stuff they are fighting for. Hypocrites, the entire lot of liberals. They’re going to get their way, and they’ll be the first to be rationed if the healthcare takeover passes.
Hypocrite vs hypocrite. Oh the irony.
Exactly! Then again, he can’t possibly move as fast these spoiled little leftist SOBs want him to—and get away with it. So he has-to move 2 or 3 steps forward(’forward’ in their view) and one step back. The country isn’t that dumb yet to stand by and let it all happen at once. A little at a time and they won’t notice so much, assuming enough people today even understand what is happening, likely a foolish assumption on my part.
Allow me to just cover my mouth and giggle and point at these loons!
Such sweetness. The very ones who elected and funded him, are now protesting. Sweet.
Around that I suppose. In any case, she's as much a commie today as she was back then, despite her great wealth.

February 16, 1971: Jane Fonda and Donald Sutherland form "FTA" (F*** The Army), an anti-war, anti-American road show that tours near Army bases in order to undermine troop morale. Skits and songs portray American defeats, soldiers refusing to fight, and the murder of officers by their troops. FTA cast members mingle with soldiers after the shows, encouraging them to desert or to sabotage the Army.

7:00pm show sold out!
FTA (1972, Francine Parker), the Vietnam War-era documentary, will have an ultra-rare screening in a restored archival print with former FTA cast member Jane Fonda in person, Monday, February 2 at 7:00pm and 9:15pm; the 7:00pm show is sold out. Following the screening, Ms. Fonda will talk about the film and her work in the controversial antiwar touring show in a discussion moderated by David Zeiger, director of the recent documentary Sir! No Sir! A portion of the proceeds from the evening will benefit Iraq Veterans against the War, a nonprofit organization that advocates for ending the war and for providing support to returning service members.
Virtually unseen in any format since a brief theatrical run in 1972, FTA documents "the show the Pentagon couldn't stop." The revue, whose letters were said to stand both for Free Theater Associates and also Free (or, at times, another F-word) The Army, brought antiwar entertainment to military personnel at the height of Vietnam. Performers like Ms. Fonda, Donald Sutherland and Holly Near toured towns near military bases around the US and overseas, lending their support to troops who opposed the war. The film follows the troupe as it travels and performs near US military bases on the Pacific Rim -- Hawaii, Okinawa, the Philippines -- encouraging opposition to the war among the rank-and-file of US forces.
FTA is a gritty mix of rollicking performances and GI interviews, juxtaposing lighthearted political satire with the somber realities of war, occupation, and the absurdities of military life, a barbed rebuke to the staid USO program. From Okinawa to the Philippines, stirred by the show's provocative message, the members of the U.S. military find courage to speak out candidly in front of the camera.
Fonda and Sutherland are joined on stage by an all-star cast of musicians and activists including folk musician Len Chandler and comedian Paul Mooney. A fresh look at the Vietnam anti-war movement through the songs and skits that shook a generation, this film will leave you singing along with the fired-up men and women of the military. Foxtrot, Tango, Alpha... F*** the Army!
Print courtesy of the Academy Film Archive.
Tickets: $12 IFC Center members, $15 general admission.

This may mean that I'm not a good person, but I take a distinct pleasure in this. :)
Nah, that happened when none of them could find/hold a job and had to remain living with their parents and their "silly house rules".
Isn’t it great? The anti-capitalists want all the money, and want to deny us from it. They’re having a hard time with converting America. And, when the fight really begins, capitalists, Americans will win. We’re at the beginning phase, and 2010 is critical. It will direct the outcome of America. Freedom isn’t just an American thing, it’s a HUMAN thing. We will fight, and we will win. How many of your ‘regular’ Americans will fight for freedom? My hand is raised.
I hope the teleprompter is warmed up properly.
The elitist “intellectual” liberal left sincerely believe they are smarter and better than everyone else. And that they will or should run the world. Given that, they “deserve” to live in luxury (they think).
Why would they? They've got their comfy tenured positions in academia or union-protected g-jobs in gubmint. The rest of us with jobs that pay for their inflated salaries/bennies can keep paying and the unemployed can go to hell.
Agreed...
Barack Hussein Obama....mmm...mmm...mmm
They are a little late. The 0ne has talked to allies, the order is out and tomorrow he reads from his teleprompter. Had the left mobilized earlier, the hollow coward in the White House very well could have buckled. Especially if the presstitutes got on board with the protests. Oh well.

Somebody call Michael Moore a waaambulance.
Marxists always eat their young. Psychopathic marxists are even hungrier and eat everyone’s young.
Obama is getting what he deserves for being a marxist, an appeaser, a coward, incompetent and a traitor.
Bon Appetite!
I’ve got this picture in my mind of Obama calling Dubya in private and asking him how he dealt with all this hatred? “Yo, bro Prez, can ya give da man some tips?”
Good heavens, I'll say! Remember the day after Bush was inaugurated in 2001, the homeless population quadrupled!
They will be the useless idiots to the comrades in Washington once the Marxists take over and take all their money.
What? You Kidding?? What about the “Beer Summit”????/sarc
yep, it’s the message to Moore bro ....
You know this song was the all time favorite song of our
Marines as they went in to ‘clean house’ in Phantom Fury
at al Fallujah in 2004 ?
