Few Marines in Afghanistan wake for Obama's speech

CAMP LEATHERNECK, Afghanistan Only a handful of the thousands of troops in the U.S. Marines' main base here thought it worth the effort to get out of bed for President Barack Obama's speech on Afghanistan, which began at 5:30 a.m. local time.
In the workout gym one of the few public places with TVs only two Navy Seabee engineers were watching when the speech began, and they were sharply divided on the wisdom of the president's plan.
"I didn't really hear a good reason," said E3 Steven Lewis, 23, of Boise, Idaho. "I think it's all gone on too long. 9/11 happened a long time ago."

Get our troops out, give the Arabs 30 days to get out if they want out then blow the dump and anyone who stays off of the map. Pres. Harry Truman showed us how to win a war,

Amen! Here's what I wrote in another thread:
The only way I support a troop increase is if we go in there, whoop the $h!t out of them and then pull out with our middle fingers waiving goodbye. My buddies and I are tired of fighting a politically correct war and we, especially those of us who have been deployed four of the last six years (I personally have only deployed once which is rare in the Army nowadays) are very tired of not being allowed to win decisively after this many years. Thank God the American people are tired of it too. We must not have learned from Vietnam; hopefully, this time weve learned so that in the future we get in, whoop @$$, and then get out.

If I were still an active-duty Marine, especially in a combat zone, the only time I'd wake early is to view his wake.

Marines need their sleep.
(like all our military)
Because, “great work gets done, DESPITE MANAGEMENT”.
And that requires a good night sleep.

Nativity scene in the us capitol
The Supreme Court has ruled that there cannot be a nativity scene in the U.S. Capitol this Christmas season.
This isn’t for any religious reason. They simply have not been able to find Three Wise Men in Washington, D.C.
A search for a virgin continues.
There will be no problem, however, finding enough Donkeys to fill the stable.

Just as long as we’re out by 2012 so there’s no quagmire there which might impact Obama’s odds at re-election. What’s more important?.. America (Defeating the terrorists), or The Democrat Party (winning an election)? And the Democrat’s answer is.. (drum roll please)... ELECTION!
To: Dubya
Why should they wake to support someone who betrays them when they do their duty, and will hand them over to foreign prosecutors for what? giving a TERRORIST a fat lip?? Then has the nerve to go to west point to deliver a speech about how he’s only sending in 75% of the needed troops?

What I noticed about Obama's this evening was his usual appearance of standing before America without any sense of humility of power. He never looked out at America's Military audience with a look of pride or admiration much less that needed humility.
His gaze 'upon them', just that. Obama stood, coolly absorbing his audience; seeming to imagine their power and pride in accomplishment, was his and his alone. Whatever few warm words had been edited into his speech; they were stone cold on delivery.
And so it is; and will be, a demeanor assumed by our narcissistic and puffed-up President; who appears only cognizant of himself while emoting his arrogance of self-importance. Even when standing before one of America's greatest treasures - our incredible Military.
No doubt; they were a great photo-op. Albeit, another 'inappropriateness' missed by the One.
George Bush, on his worst day; could not carry off what Obama manages so deftly. We can be grateful for that (and for much more per GW, for certain.)

As CIC; that would be the case. Like KSM debaucle; even the best of Media; does not go there attaching his name. At least not much; or often.
(A similar MO operant with use of that 'Virginia couple' as gate crashers. Think 'Virginia' couple; is used first in story and more often than their names as another bow to PC and additional buffer to Obama. A preferred mention, so as to reduce 'alarm'; despite the legs this story has been given. By now, we should be well beyond the innocuous- if not prestigious - given to the 'Virginia couple' per this story.
No question that Obama needs to be credited with every disaster and insult that his hand not only allows - but gives 'blessing'to.
We know GW was always given credit; whether he deserved it - or not. The media created a world-wide mantra on his behalf. (It was Bush's fault, of course.)

McClatchy report by Jonathan Landay, the reporter who broke the story of how our rules of engagement in Afghanistan endanger the troops.
McClatchy report by Jonathan Landay: Report: "Rules of engagement led to soldiers' deaths." A detailed follow up:
The lack of timely air support - was a consequence of the manpower and equipment shortages bequeathed by the Bush administrations failure to secure Afghanistan against a resurgence of the Taliban, al-Qaida and allied groups before turning to invade Iraq.
The denial of heavy artillery fire to those trapped in Ganjgal also has roots in the Bush administrations decision to divert resources to Iraq and the resulting stress on the U.S. military.

"I don't think that even the best blogsites are a substitute for the mainstream media is that bloggers cannot do all of the things that mainstream media companies can do, at least for now. In June, for example, we completed an investigation of the Bush administration's detainee program. It took the lead reporter, Tom Lasseter, other reporters and Travis Heying, a photographer for the Wichita Eagle, to 11 countries on three continents over the course of eight months. It's hard for bloggers, no matter how good they are, to do that kind of work." - John Walcott, Washington bureau chief for McClatchy Newspapers Oct. 7, 2008

Harry Truman showed us how to win a war?
What?
You must mean WWII. Truman inherited the plan that was already in the works before he became President. He had little to do with those plans prior to Roosevelt’s death.
Are you talking about Korea? Korea was a failure and Truman was partly to blame. Korea remains divided to this day. Truman fired a famous general, if you recall because that famous general actually wanted to chase the Chinese back to China and take care of the North Korean government once and for all. Truman sought permission from the UN. Korea was the first war we fought with one hand tied behind our backs, Korea led the US down the path of limited warfare which led to the mess the US government made out of Vietnam.
Korea was Truman’s, and he blinked.
