Congress scrambles to extend estate tax
Assiciated Press ^ | 12/02/2009 | STEPHEN OHLEMACHER

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Next year had been shaping up as a great year to get a big inheritance - no federal taxes on it. Congress, however, has other plans for the few wealthy heirs expecting a big boon. Uncle Sam may take a 45 percent cut after all.

Under current law, the federal estate tax is scheduled to temporarily disappear next year before returning in 2011 at an even higher rate. But the House is expected to vote as early as Thursday on a bill that would permanently extend the current top rate of 45 percent on estates larger than $3.5 million.

They are poking at a sleeping lion....

It's not just the estate tax....but that is the most disgusting of all government thefts...what took a lifetime to accumulate will be redistributed in 5 minutes....

“The law has placed the collective force at the disposal of the unscrupulous who wish, without risk, to exploit the person, liberty, and property of others.”

“But how is this legal plunder to be identified? Quite simply. See if the law takes from some persons what belongs to them, and gives it to other persons to whom it does not belong. See if the law benefits one citizen at the expense of another by doing what the citizen himself cannot do without committing a crime.”

“Then abolish this law without delay, for it is not only an evil itself, but also it is a fertile source for further evils because it invites reprisals. If such a law — which may be an isolated case — is not abolished immediately, it will spread, multiply, and develop into a system.”

“It is impossible to introduce into society a greater change and a greater evil than this: the conversion of the law into an instrument of plunder.”

“Now, legal plunder can be committed in an infinite number of ways. Thus we have an infinite number of plans for organizing it: tariffs, protection, benefits, subsidies, encouragements, progressive taxation, public schools, guaranteed jobs, guaranteed profits, minimum wages, a right to relief, a right to the tools of labor, free credit, and so on, and so on. All these plans as a whole — with their common aim of legal plunder — constitute socialism.”

The above quotes from “The Law” - Frederic Bastiat

Bastiat

I lift the word "Plunder" from old Frederic.....

The state is that great fiction by which everyone tries to live at the expense of everyone else....

You are well read sir or madam... My hope is that all in this forum have or will soon read "The Law" by Bastiat.

Estate Planning Attorney and Accountants Full Employment Act of 2009

Wrong: The vast vast majority of estates are less than 3.5 million dollars. If this was the Full empolyment act Congress should do nothing. In 2011 the estate tax is on estates over 1 million dollars.

Lifted from your page.....listenhillary.

Let me tell you how it will be
There's one for you, nineteen for me
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman

Should five per cent appear too small
Be thankful I don't take it all
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah I'm the taxman

If you drive a car, I'll tax the street,
If you try to sit, I'll tax your seat.
If you get too cold I'll tax the heat,
If you take a walk, I'll tax your feet.

Don't ask me what I want it for
If you don't want to pay some more
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman

Now my advice for those who die
Declare the pennies on your eyes
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman
And you're working for no one but me.

..theft of 45% of even a dime is dispicable. I consider it political punishment of the successful, the thrifty, the self-reliant, those that pay their bills, live within their means...only to have it stolen before the body gets cool.

The hottest spot in Hell awaits those that plunder....

Is there any legal way to get around this?

Legal? I wonder what Jefferson had to say about unconstituional legislation?

Step 1 - Flush the putrid bowel of congressional poop in 2010
Step 2 - Double-flush the socialist President 2012
Step 3 - Any other step required.....

That's understood.....but we respect the constitution....

That's all that counts. The takers will always take....expect it....and defeat them.

The Law is one of my favorites. Bastiat was a giant. There are downloadable copies on the net.

I also recommend Locke.

.......possible, but not likely once the lines are drawn between the states that proclaim their sovereignty and the federal thieves....

I seriously doubt that the armed forces would act against the American Patriot....nor will the State Militia, State police, etc. It's coming....when? Who knows.... No need for violence...just stand up and say NO...no more...you are fired!

Imagine 1,000, 10,000, 500,000, 1,000,000 people or more declaring the end to tyranny.
