Let's define pornography:

por·nog·ra·phy

n. Sexually explicit pictures, writing, or other material whose primary purpose is to cause sexual arousal.

That's pretty broad. Query: Is a photo of Jennifer Anniston in a tight-fitting, low-cut evening gown on the cover of a magazine "pornography"?

maybe if Tiger used his right hand and a little porn to kill his urges he wouldn’t have needed/wanted to bed the skanks.

Believe me, I blame him. His wife was most likely very tired from taking care of two small children. She probably wasn’t in the “mood” as much as before the kids came along.

So what do you do? You respect your wife. Take your twice or so weekly sessions with her with a smile. Can’t stand going that long without dropping a nut? Then shut the door to the computer room, pull up a porn site or two and take care of business. Problem solved.

No chance of getting a nasty STD, no chance of getting taken by some crazy extorting tramp.

Stamp out the root cause of porn-—criminalize sex outside of marriage. Fixed it.

I saw something on TV a while back about a married couple who run a porn web site featuring themselves. Sex within marriage.

I think it is horrible that people are forced to watch porn.

This looks like someone just wrote this without doing a study at all. Not that I’m disagreeing with the conclusions, but where are the facts behind this study?

How is porn defined in the study?

You can download the full report as a .pdf, but it's long on psychobabble and short on methodology.

Dr. Laura’s has an interesting take when a women calls her all upset about her husband looking at porn. Years ago she would side with the woman immediately; and then she got a letter from a man who said his wife was unavailable for sex and that looking at porn was better than adultry.

Ever since then, her first question to a woman complaining about porn is, “How easy do you make it for your husband to have sex with you?”

One could argue that if bringing in a third party to a conversation violates the spousal privilege when it comes to testimony, bringing a third party to view what are doing with your spouse would also violate sex within a marriage.

In any type of evening gown is NOT explicit -——pick at nits if you must. Snicker and pretend to you don’t know what pornography is. Noentheless, it is an evil in our society and offers nothing constructive for anyone.

So the purpose matters, not the content? So kids getting their jollies off of National Geographic is okay since the purpose wasn’t porn, even if it is being used as porn.

That leads us back to the fact that whether it’s damaging depends on the person.

So far I haven’t seen one decent, scientific, unbiased study on the issue. I don’t think one exists.

New Major Study Catalogues How Socialism Harms Marriages, Children, Communities and Individuals.

The porn study was probably done under a government grant - from the socialist government.

While your point is well made, there is something VASTLY different between a cave drawing (or the venus statues) and online video porn (for instance). I would think that men who become addicted have some sort of problem, but maybe not. Being a woman I don’t understand the phenomena at all.

That’s how the story read. It looked like a conclusion looking for facts.

It's the liberal way. Start out with a "feeling" and get someone to cook up some data to support it.

Exactly.

It amazes me how many wives are losing out to a cold plastic and glass CRT vs. a warm caress from a loving wife - should be no contest....

Are we talking only about nudity?

Would it be pornography to have a naked woman with a welder's hat and shield on the cover of Modern Welding? Is the naked body all by itself "sexually explicit"?

What is "sexually explicit"? Jennifer Anniston's photo, in my example, must be "sexually IMPLICIT" then, I take it?
