A map of how California will be affected by climate change in the future was unveiled yesterday by state governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. The map, which demonstrates the devastating effects of global warming in just a century, shows how San Francisco Airport would be completely underwater if sea levels were to rise by 150cm (60in).

I guess it doesn't matter so much what party some of these jerks represent. When they smell tons of tax money, global warming becomes real to them.

Is this based on same flawed and manipulated information that everyone agrees by consensus “is science” and was peer reviewed? /s

Does it makes sense if the base information was wrong and invalid, then the outcome of any experiment or model can only conform to a predisposed hypothesis and the baseline information was purposely manipulated to fill that hypothesis. /s

Dang it! I can’t write this evening.

San Franscisco is too hilly to have significant flooding. If we could flood the civic center and downtown along Market and move the homeless somewhere else, it would redeem half of the city.

To the global warming crowd, this was their baby. And, like any other baby that has died, it's so hard to let go. There will never be a closure for them. If somebody ever comes up with a symbolic grave for the dead "global warming" baby, there will always be those who will grieve over it.

[[He’s just helping ratchet up the pre-Copenhagen scare tactics. What a complete and utter fool this Austrian socialist is!]]

You are exactly right- we’re goign to see a virtual sunami of attempts by these corrupt politicians to ramp up the scaremonguering in their desperate attempt to salvage what they can from this exposed fraud. We’re already seeing the white house deny the emails are a problem, saying ‘global warming is settled science’ which is a bald-faced deceitful manipulation meant to deceive peopel into htinking there’s stil la ‘crisis that we can and are obligated to, do somethign about’.

America NEEDS to begin sendign htese corrupt politicians a clear message that IF they continue blaming cyclical warming trends on man, that they WILL be kicked out of office, and possibly prosecuted to the fulelst extent of the law for scamming the citizens of htis coutnry (and by extension, the world)

Yes, I've been there, and the area is *quite* hilly.

But for some reason, the airport is pretty flat.

Especially the runways.

Cheers!

How many acre feet of water are required to raise the level of the sea five feet? And where will this water come from?

From ice melting? How much ice would have to melt to raise the level of the entire Pacific Ocean five feet?

Any scientist who believes this should be kicked in the @ss.

There's a good deal of land in the Bay that is reclaimed by land fill. Given that an earthquake can liquify these areas under some conditions, if they are under water anytime soon, it won't likely be because the sea rose.

Brown areas are land fill.

Is the airport really only 5 feet above water?

Yes. I live a couple miles (uphill) from SF Int'l Airport. Much of it is bay-fill. Same goes for Treasure Island, which Schwarzenegger said would be under water if the bay waters rose. Well... Treasure Island is man-made, from bay-fill, done in the 1930s to host an international fair celebrating the building of the bridges over the bay. My dad was stationed there for a while in the 60s, and I enjoyed the views from the island - perfectly flat. Treasure Island was going to be San Francisco's main airport, but they swapped it to the feds for land where SFIA is now located. I walk and jog near SFIA a few times a week, much of the land is bay-fill and is being cleaned up after a hundred years of dumping.
