Parliamentary Speaker: Climate debate derailed? (Denmark)
Politiken ^ | 04. dec 2009 KL. 10.22 | Julian Isherwood

The Speaker of the Danish Parliament has issued a damning criticism of the climate debate, saying politicians gullibly turn theories into facts.

As the world prepares to converge on Copenhagen for the COP15 Climate Summit, Denmark’s Speaker of Parliament has expressed serious doubts as to the way in which the climate debate has developed.

“The problem is that lots of people go around saying that the climate change we see is a result of human activity. That is a very dangerous claim,” Parliamentary Speaker and former Finance Minister Thor Pedersen (Lib) tells DR.

“Unfortunately I seem to experience that scientists say: ‘We have a theory’ – then that crosses the road to the politicians who say: ‘We know’. Who can be bothered to hear a scientist who says ‘I have a theory’ when politicians go around saying ‘I know’” Thor Pedersen says.

No temperature rise Thor Pedersen adds that the temperature has not risen in the past decade.

“I’m not saying that in the decade that the temperature has fallen or stagnated is enough to evaluate developments. But one should only say what one knows,” the Speaker adds.

“You should say that although we believed in our models, that the temperature would rise from 1998 to 2008, we have to admit that it has not risen. We cannot explain why it has not risen, but we believe we still have a problem. I’m just asking that people say what they actually know,” Pedersen tells DR.

Pedersen says that a major challenge is how to ensure energy and food to cater for the major population growth the world will be experiencing, and that the COP15 Climate Summit could result in an agreement that reduces the pressure on the Earth.

“We should all shake hands and agree to do everything possible to create good living conditions. That has nothing to do with the climate debate, in which we try to determine the globe’s temperature. It is common sense,” Thor Pedersen says in his interview with DR.

Climategate has reached the front page of the main liberal newspaper in Denmark. Even Sky news have been discussing it all day. It's like the debate climate is thawing :-P

He speaks common sense, This whole thing is unraveling, Obama looks sillier every day. Even the arrogant spokes person from the UN has had to concede there needs to be an investigation (publicly forced to)

drip, drip, drip ...

With every passing day, the lack of US MSM coverage becomes harder to conceal, and more people will turn to FOX to see what the hell is going on.

Most interesting. The speaker of the ruling Liberal Party is now speaking up against Global Warming, undercutting his Prime Minister. In LegoLand of all places! That, and Australia’s ruling Liberal Conservative(?!) Party’s grassroots revolt, undercutting THEIR leadership. AND the China/India/Brazil joint statement that they won’t be playing ball, the unstoppable force seems to have suddenly met the immovable object.

And Politiken is the main liberal paper? It has some other sceptical articles as well, I’m impressed.

However, I am disappointed that it apparently does not have a section with photos of nude or topless chicks like Germany’s Stern or UK’s Sun. Tsk! Tsk! How uncool.

Unfortunately, this guy will likely be banned from polite society for his heretic views.

As much as I would love to see this entire fraud collapse, keep in mind that inertia is a difficult force to overcome.

Case in point: DDT. After sentencing tens of millions of African children to death over the decades based upon nothing but nonsensical hysteria created by eco-freaks and accepted by politicians. To this date they fight like hell any attempts to change it.

Just to clear up any confusion:

The Liberal party in Denmark is like the Australian liberals - classic liberal parties. They stand for personal liberty, free markets and such. They harken back to “enlightenment” figures such as Adam Smith, John Locke, John Stuart Mill etc.

In Denmark the liberal party rule together with the conservatives who are a much smaller faction. I think the main difference between the two parties is that the conservatives tend to also be more socially conservative (A bit more Burke than Hayek).

When I call Politiken (The Politics) the most liberal paper, I use the American term liberal. i.e. moonbat socialist political correct nuttiness.

It’s a bit odd that global warming oldtimer James Hansen of NASA is largely being ignored now.

He seems to think that cap and trade is a money making scam that will not help cut emissions at all, and he is hoping for Copenhagen to fail.

He is nuts.

But, perhaps he is an honest nut as it were.

Why would he? He doesn't listen to Fox, and none of the other "news" organs will report this. His toadies probably won't tell him, either. Could be that BO will first hear about this in his Copenhagen hotel room!

It will be an interesting week or two watching Obama deal with this. Wonderful that he is going to Copenhagen.
