It is very unlikely that Townshend is a pedophile.

There is a whole list of them

False accusations are as bad as the real thing.

I find it more interesting that the NFL would consider putting great-grandpa Townsend on stage to do anything.

Yes, I grew up listening to THE WHO. I grew up listening to the Beatles.

But, there have been a few ‘new’ groups since that time.

Is there even anyone else in the band alive besides Townsend?

Maybe the NFL could we get him (in honor of the pedophilia concern) to sing that song about jerking off?

I mean you don’t really think “Uncle Ernie” or “Cousin Kevin” were autobiographical?

The story I heard was the Tommy was sort of autobiographical and something like that happened to Townshend.

Selected lyrics from Townsend’s Uncle Ernie song from Tommy:

I’m your wicked Uncle Ernie
I’m glad you won’t see or hear me
As I fiddle about

Your mother left me here to mind you
Now I’m doing what I want to
Fiddling about

Down with the bedclothes
Up with your nightshirt!

You won’t shout as I fiddle about

Rough Boys.

Such a great song. Except for the lyrics.

“Child AbuseWatch” should be expending their time and resources trying to have actual Child Abusers exposed and prosecuted rather than trying to damage careers of people who’ve never been alleged to have engaged in child abuse. Get Roman Polanski extradited and I’ll be impressed.

I couldn't agree with you more. With people like Adam Lambert around, who really cares about the WHO's Pete Townshend performing, especially when it sounds mostly like a case of him writing about something he should have passed on. Maybe "Child Abuse Watch" could go after our "Safe Schools Czar" Jennings instead. Now THERE'S a child abuser.

I suggest Townsend's accusers read the details of those allegations. I think there's plenty of room to doubt their validity.

I think Peter Townsend is a bit barmy -- as most "artists" are -- but I'd stop before accusing him of being a pedophile.

The rest of the story is out there if you're willing to look.

I might point out that in the song lyrics in Rough Boys, that the only reference to the gender of the person who (created/wrote/inspired) the song is “HER”.

Agreed. Scummy lawyers and psycho shrinks have created an industry based on child abuse, much as the divorce industry was created 35 years ago.

Agreed. “Child AbuseWatch” would be taken more seriously if, rather than rifling through Pete Townsend’s underpants drawers, they were investigating the “Safe School Czar,” who thinks it’s satisfactory for grade schoolers to cruise bus terminal Mens rooms,

Besides the fact that Townshend and Daltry are in their mid-60's without Keith Moon and John Entwistle they can't approach their live performances of the 60's and 70's.

Who's Next (no pun intended), Lynyrd Skynrd? The Grateful Dead? REO Speedwagon?

I don't know about the Dead or Speedwagon but Skynd is a definite possibility. As is ZZ Top.

I think that the NFL is putting on old rockers at the SB half-time show because they think they aren't controversial unlike some of the more current music acts. This trend started after the Janis Jackson half-time show debacle at the 2004 SB.

They still do quite well. In fact, Daltrey just finished a solo tour and even though he had a few rough spots, he generally sounded amazing.

He also looks fantastic (looks a good 20 years younger) and is quite strong (the strongest hug I've ever had).

”Rough Boys” obviously has homosexual overtones.

Really? Or is it just your perception?

Explain the following lyrics from the song:

Nobody knows her

She’s so easy to find

Under the sheets
Nobody knows her

----------

Anyone can plainly see the song is about a not-so-young woman who like rough, young, boys. But, you all bought into the claims of the MSM (they lie, they always have) for years, even still believing while you post the VERY TEXT of the song which proves you wrong.
