For the record, this post is being posted in News/Activism by the express permission of Jim Robinson, founder and owner of Free Republic:

“Debate on church doctrine and or threads on specific religious matters may be best posted in the religion forum, but the defense of religious freedom, especially against those who wish to deprive us of same belongs front and center on FR....They banned God and prayer and creationism from public schools and public places, but I’ll be damned if they’re gonna ban Him or it from FR!”

http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2009/11/basics-of-life/

“What emerged was a picture of surprising complexity. M. pneumoniae needs just eight gene “switches” to control its molecular activities, compared to 50 in E. coli — a number so low that it implies other, as-yet-unknown regulatory processes. Groups of genes thought to work in unison did so only intermittently. At other times they worked in isolation, or in unexpected configurations.”

What continues to emerge is a picture of surprising naivety
on the part of scientists who keep expecting life to be simpler than it is.

Life designed by God is going to be far more complex than we can imagine. All the criticism of God for *incompetently designing* this universe and life in it is ludicrous. To think that we know more than God about how He should have done things is the height of arrogance, especially considering the level of understanding of our world. We’ve just begun to scratch the surface.

Of course, it’s no surprise that scientists expect everything to be simpler than it really is. They must. It fits far better to a no-God paradigm, and the more complex the universe and life, the less rational it is to deny the need for a creator.

This is the “defense of religious freedom”??

I see they’re looking at sciencey stuff and baselessly claiming it’s false because it doesn’t fit the Bible....looks like an attack on your religiou freedom to me.

I see another attack on a scientifically based hypothesis, using the Bible...baselessly claiming the science fits the Bible in a ludicrous comparison that is merely small world skin-deep thinking. That must be “defending religious freedom.”

I see quote mining of commentary of a research paper...this must be “defending religious freedom.”

I see the wiping out of an entire field of science...of course that’s “defending religious freedom.”

I see the perversion of entomology and microbiology to match the Bible... must be “defending religious freedom.”

Someone deserves a medal for all this “defending” going on.

It’s not so much “defending religious freedom” as it is “throwing a life preserver to those of weak faith who would be lost if their belief in the literal truth of the bible were shaken by science”.

Of course, that would take longer to type.

"This is the “defense of religious freedom”??"

It is exactly the opposite. I see the continued posts by GodlessGunlessGutless as an undisguised assault on the religious freedom of Catholics and other who do not believe in Young Earth Creationism. He is the epitome of the Christian Taliban.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who sees a direct link to the taliban in “how religion should be enforced”.
Weak minds, weak faith, and having to use the “JR club” —
I wonder if GGG was potty trained at gunpoint.... ????
