WASHINGTON The Obama administration took a major step Monday toward imposing the first federal limits on climate-changing pollution from cars, power plants and factories, declaring there was compelling scientific evidence that global warming from manmade greenhouse gases endangers Americans' health.
The announcement by the Environmental Protection Agency was clearly timed to build momentum toward an agreement at the international conference on climate change that opened Monday in Copenhagen, Denmark. It signaled the administration was prepared to push ahead for significant controls in the U.S. if Congress doesn't act first on its own.
The price could be steep for both industry and consumers. The EPA finding clears the way for rules that eventually could force the sale of more fuel-efficient vehicles and require plants to install costly new equipment at a cost of billions or even many tens of billions of dollars or shift to other forms of energy.
No analysis has been conducted by the EPA on costs of such broad regulations, although the agency put the price tag of its proposed climate-related car rules at $60 billion, with an estimated benefit of $250 billion.

I agree. First abolish the EPA, then the FDA, NASA , Dept of Energy, HHS, Dept of Education, and almost all of the thousands of government agencies. These people who work at these government agencies are accountable to no one as this global warming nut, Hansen, at NASA shows.
Then give the money used to fund those agencies back to the productive private sector so that private individuals will have more money for investment in real businesses and jobs.
These EPA goons are lying when say that they are doing this for our “health” as CO2 doesn't cause global warming because there is no global warming. Global warming is hoax, a scam. The Earth is actually cooling.
Millions of liberals are cheering this EPA action. Are they that dumb? The EPA is out to destroy the U.S. economy:

Last week, two environmentalist groups petitioned the EPA to regulate greenhouse gases under NAAQS. Soon the EPA will have no choice. Once the NAAQS kicks in and it will the American economy is, not to put too fine a point on it, screwed. The government wont be able to permit anything larger than a mansion. Taken to the extent mandated under the Clean Air Act, the EPA would probably have to order the shut-down of most industrial suppliers and users of conventional energy.
Theres only one remedy for this otherwise inevitable regulatory nightmare. The Congress must pass H. R. 391, legislation offered by Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R., Tenn.) that prohibits the EPA from using the Clean Air Act to regulate greenhouse-gas emissions.
Historic, yeah. Seems to me that the Barry and his EPA all must have missed third grade science.
Great post and this is a fuse which has become lit on a powder keg which is going to explode in the liberals faces. The reaction and backlash that is coming to them is going to be ugly and possibly violent.
I see this tying into the health-care bill to regulate all we do.
But the court said the EPA would have to determine if these pollutants pose a danger to public health and welfare before it could regulate them.
It would be interesting to know if the Supreme court relied on any of the UN tainted data to make this ruling on CO2
It gives “Oxygen Thief” a whole new meaning, doesn’t it?
And Bamsy and his pals will define who meets that definition.
Scary.
Every time I fart, God kills a kitten.
[[declaring there was compelling scientific evidence that global warming from manmade greenhouse gases endangers Americans’ health.]]
dttt Dtttt Dtttt... This just in- in a historic bold move, the obama administration and the EPA announced that there is compelling new evidence that the sun causes health problems, and endangers American’s health, and needs to be regulated. From this point forward, anyone wishing to go outside, regardless of what strength SPF they apply, will have to pay ‘sun-credits’ to Al Gore and Ilk. The penalty for failign to regulate your time i nthe sun, staying out logner than your credits allow you to, wil lresult in swift and immediate punishement of a fine of $2 million dollars.
The administration als has hinted that they will be regulating and setting time slots for the amount of time we can spend out after dark, because it’s now known that the ‘science is settled’ that the more time peopel spend driving automobiles i nthe dark, the greater the risk to the citizens who might encounter them on dark unlit roads. Send all checks to ‘stopneedlessnightdrivingbecauseitendangerseveryoneandneedstobeheavilyregulated.com
What's next?
A regulation that all policy makers must have chicken bones to toss for making decisions, and perhaps a bone through their noses?
One of my auto gnomes of which I have lost touch with, may or may not have been on a very high profile project :-).
This gnome noted many parts can't be made here, plating or painting to costly via EPA, so it get's sent over to China and they turn their country into enviro-merde-hole.
What is needed in this persons opinion is a duty on the reimportation of such components that equals the Enviro cost of doing it here. Very Clever.....
But you are right the EPA has become a huge block for making anything here anymore. Something has got to give
Water as a Trace Greenhouse Gas
WATER VAPOR is an important trace gas, which all by itself probably contributes on the order of 60% of the global warming potential contributed by all gases (Science 5 Dec. 03)
http://people.oregonstate.edu/~muirp/globclim.htm#water
Since water vapor is itself a potent greenhouse gas (much more so than carbon dioxide), increased water vapor concentrations will trap additional heat and cause the surface temperatures to rise even faster.
http://www.whoi.edu/page.do?pid=12455&tid=282&cid=10149
Water vapor in the atmosphere also influences the way heat gets from earth's surface to space. Water vapor is the most important greenhouse gas.
http://oceanworld.tamu.edu/resources/oceanography-book/oceansandclimate.htm
Water vapor is the most abundant and, indeed, the most important greenhouse gas in the atmosphere.
http://climate.columbia.edu/?id=faq
Water vapor and CO2 account for about 60% and 26% of the greenhouse effect, respectively.
http://lawr.ucdavis.edu/classes/atm5/Lecture3.htm
Water vapor is the elephant in the global warming room, that is never mentioned. This is wrong. If the EPA can decree that carbon dioxide is harmful to human health (because it is a greenhouse gas) they MUST be required to ALSO so label water vapor.
EVERY internal combustion engine produces the "pollutant" water vapor. This can be demonstrated very easily: consider jet "contrails:" water vapor. Consider your car's exhaust on a cold day: water vapor. Consider your own breath on a cold day: water vapor. The cold is mentioned only because the cold causes the water vapor to condense into a visible cloud, but the water vapor is ALWAYS emitted by anything which combusts hydrocarbons.
"Water Vapor is the most important greenhouse gas." We cannot allow the EPA to ignore it.

Since the main greenhouse gas is water vapor comprising more than 90% of all greenhouse gases, will the EPA now ban the boiling of water to save humanity?
Sorry, didn’t read the whole thread before posting.
NEED MORE COFFEE!!!!!!!
Water is the major greenhouse gas.
>>”Sorry, didnt read the whole thread before posting.”
Not a problem. The horrible scourge of water vapor MUST be stopped, if we are to survive. So, any publicity helps raise the consciousness of the general public to this plague. Here are some suggested slogans:
1. Just say NO to water.
2. Ho ho ho, ho ho ho, we don’t want your H2O!
3. Take this water and shove it.
4. Water KILLS
5. We don’t have to breathe no steenkin’ water.
6. No more government/water complex.
7. Destroy the “Big Water” monopoly.
8. Stop our addiction to breathing water.
Well, you can see that we need a grass roots movement to stamp out water. Uhh... make that an astroturf movement, grass roots seem to like water.
This is series.
