To: Alberta's Child
It’s no secret that after Israel was reestablished, it became a military state. There was no other way for it to survive. Their entire population aside from infants and very young children had to be ready to mobilize within a moments notice. Life is tough. Life in Israel is even tougher.

Well, a bit like ancient Sparta.
"Sparta was above all a militarist state, and emphasis on military fitness began virtually at birth. Shortly after birth, the mother of the child bathed it in wine to see whether the child was strong. If the child survived it was brought before the Gerousia by the child's father. The Gerousia then decided whether it was to be reared or not. If they considered it "puny and deformed", the baby was thrown into a chasm on Mount Taygetos known euphemistically as the Apothetae. This was, in effect, a primitive form of eugenics."
