Every other POTUS underwent a background investigation.

Oh by what authority? Can you post the results?

“Boring”....mothballed guillotine.

We do not live in boring times. The days are upon us when we will wish for boring.

I don’t believe we are complacent anymore. There is a swelling tide. We all sense it. It won’t begin in a public forum like FR...but I’m sure men, young, strong, focused, brave...

There are still complacent (useful idiots) that voted for Zero, or didn’t vote at all that aren’t getting the message yet. They still have jobs, even tho they know people that don’t. They’re still enjoying their great benefits and their paid vacations, so they aren’t hurting yet. They either don’t want to face the reality that they screwed up by voting for Zero, or they can’t. It will take some other major loss for them or their family to turn them to the truth finally.

If/when the deathcare passes, that will galvanize more of us to act. Senior citizens are already scared to death, almost, that they’ll be rationed to death and won’t be able to pay for anything “but” government-run care. I figure Zero will push through as much of his crap as he can even faster than the last year, since people ARE waking up as his approval ratings go south.

Question is, how much longer can we afford to wait?

MY Gosh...how can there be anyone out there who still questions this? Even if you are unsure...even if you still think it not possible, this s$hat, via his attorneys, refuses to show anything.

I understand our big media pundits staying away from airing questions. I do not understand "common people", FReepers "All" from questioning.

During the American Revolution 1/3 of the people were clueless, 1/3 were for status quo, 1/3 carried the battle.
All we need are a few good men, and we have plenty of those.
Most of our people hardly knew what was taking place in Irag during the first war. But, a very few good men, the US military did a tremendous job. Be encouraged, we don’t need everybody on board!
I’m an old lady, if I’m ready to man the trenches and do something, I KNOW!! there are those who can actually do the job coming together!
It’ll be great!! You’ll see!!

It was my understanding that be was a screw-off in high school and had a run in with the law that involved his room mate and recreational drugs. I was sure I had read that somewhere. I’m not finding anything now, so I must have been mistake. I’m sorry for saying he had a run in with the law because its not right to charge him with something he didn’t do.

George Bush, early in his presidency changed the rules governing Executive Privilege. I was quite angry about it because it enabled Bill Clinton and his father to shield their papers more than had been allowed before.

I had hoped GW’s Justice Department would take a look at Clinton’s shenanigans, and this meant to me that there was no chance of that.

Here’s a link to the Bush E.O. concerning Executive Privilege. BTW it was November of 2001, so it wasn’t as early as I had thought it was.

http://www.fas.org/sgp/news/2001/11/eo-pra.html

Note the allowance of EP claims for up to 12 years after a president had left office. Whether appropriate or not there were claims that some of Bush’s EP claims bordered the absurd. On some counts I might agree, but others were fairly transparent Democrat skullduggery.

You have expressed an opinion that Obama was trying to cover his own posterior, but here’s a link to an article that states his EO of January 21st, 2009 actually reversed Bushes stronger rules governing claims of EP.

Note I’m not trying to make that claim, merely providing a counter view for you review. I’ve not studied each in depth.

Of course we should keep asking him for it.

We stay on him about everything he does from health care to screwing our military, taxes, his associates, his czars, his policies, his damn garden for all I care.

Death by a thousands cuts.

Gads, now I’m so confused. I know Bush acted like he had been “podded” in his second term ....and now that you posted it, I DO remember something about this.

What the hell is really going on....is my question.

Also, he has paid over 1.4 million dollars to keep all his documents hidden. He actually has his legal team blocking any discovery attempts. Question is, why would 0 need a legal team blocking discovery if 0 has nothing to hide?

Well, if you’re already confused, don’t google “dan burton john ashcroft”. That will particularly give you heartburn. Ashcroft refused to turn over documents to Burton’s committee.

Here’s a Google search set up for your review, if you would like to see what I’m talking about.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&safe=off&q=dan+burton+john+ashcroft&btnG=Search&aq=f&oq=&aqi=

On some of the links, particularly the first one, you may have to scroll down to find the Burton/Ashcroft subject matter because it’s somewhat dated.

* * * * *

I looked back to see if every President passes new Executive Privilege language. It doesn’t look like they do.

Bush evidently thought there needed to be some adjustments made. I honestly don’t know why. I didn’t agree with him. His protection of papers for up to twelve years made me angry at the time. I wanted Clinton to be investigated.

I do believe presidents have some legitimate right to Executive Privilege. They couldn’t get advice, and we couldn’t have secrets if all the president’s communications and discussions were open to review.

On the other hand, they shouldn’t be able to hide things if there is a question of impropriety. Even then there may be overlapping concerns, but you catch my drift.
