This is a bit old, but here's a reminder of what the Democrats are really all about -- in Rep. Maxine Waters' own words.

This loon needs to be sent back to being a motel maid or a welfare queen. She is way in over her intelligence level on this stuff.

I would like to socialize Maxine Waters. She seems to be a sociopath who could use the treatment.

Too bad the Shell executive didn't deck her. She understands that sort of thing.

The AA (Affirmative Action) dim bulb means nationalize, but for all of you who are brighter than she and laughed at her, she won today when Congress essentially gave Bambi permission to nationalize any industry that the Feds (Bambi) didn’t like.

This is the day freedom died, folks. Mark it in your calendars. Also mark the fact that nobody noticed.

Well, since this is near the top of a thread dealing with morons who want to screw over our energy environment:

Given

1. that colder weather results in a lot more sickness and death than warmer weather,

2. that lack of air-conditioning results in heat deaths among the sick and elderly and a decreased quality of life for almost everyone else,

3. that people who are not living as drug addicts or alcoholics under a bridge live in a human environment that could not exist without a lot of easily obtainable, relatively inexpensive energy,

4. that EPA regulations on CO2 will necessarily result in a dramatic increase in the cost of anything that depends on a process that produces CO2,

5. and that EPA regulations on CO2 aren't based on anything more than a political agenda,

doesn't it follow that

1. to the extent that people don't cut back on their energy use they will necessarily become poorer in other material ways and to the extent that they do they will necessarily endanger their health, safety, and comfort in cold weather,

2. they will do the same in hot weather,

3. their human environment (including jobs) will be endangered,

4. the EPA, simply by making a ruling, is bringing demonstrable harm to hundreds of millions of people by attacking, through what amounts to a vast tax increase, the foundation of their human environment on the pretext that it will prevent them from suffering some unproven future danger from their physical environment,

5. and that the EPA's move in this regard is virtually identical in method (ignoring the science, making arbitrary decisions) and purpose (making decisions to remake American society for political purposes) to what it did in the person of William Ruckelshaus over DDT and to what others did through the big cancer scare to create the EPA to begin with (see The Apocalyptics: Cancer and the Big Lie, How Environmental Politics Controls What We Know About Cancer by Edith Efron, this included scientific fraud, scare tactics to increase federal money spent on trying to stave off what turned out to be a hoax, biased scientists and huckster politicians, such as Paul Ehrlich, Barry Commoner, Rene Dubos, and George Wald, using their positions to push their agenda)?

Because of this, Obama and the other global warmists/climate hysterics are preparing to do to the USA what Ruckelshaus did to Africa and other developing nations.

It seems as though Obama/Lisa Jackson's plans for CO2 regulation should have to pass an environmental impact study that demonstrates that its purported benefits must outweigh its costs on the American public. They shouldn't be permitted to get away with the legacy of sickness, poverty, and death that William Ruckelshaus has visited upon the world by his arbitrary anti-DDT favor to environmental extremists.

Considering that Royal Dutch Shell is a British company, it’s hard to see how Maxine has much authority on the matter. Not that she wouldn’t give it the ol’ college try.

I would suspect Shell wouldnt mind as long as they got fair market value across the board on all activities, assets and and discounted-future value on inventories.

Then the next problem... what does govt know about running an oil company?

I don’t think she would get much, socializing it. Most of an oil company is investment capital and know-how. Most of the oil they drill belongs to some government or other. There isn’t much to seize.

I guess she could seize their refineries. Fat chance getting any investment capital from them then. Can you imagine what a government run refinery would look like? And what the product coming out the pipe would cost?

But if the government owned all the oil in America instead of merely most of it, they’d still have to pay companies like Shell for their expertise to get it out of the ground. And most of the oil would still come from overseas, sold to them by companies like Shell.

Darn, you beat me to it....a foreign-owned business entity. However, she could attempt to “nationalize” their holdings here regardless, given it fits the historic profile. What a maroon.

Oh, I know. It’s making the rounds again via e-mail, and I thought is was appropriate to trot it back out considering recent news such as http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2405744/posts (”House passes historic financial rules revamp”).

King Obama, his Administration, and the entire Democratic Party are communists. When will America wake up? The next two months will see the end of America as a Constitutional Republic and we will be communists Nation. 2010 will be too late to save us. We are headed for a Civil War and anarchy to follow.

Loud Mouth Soup. They keep saying it will be Dodd they are going to throw under the bus.

I say it will be either Pelosi or Maxine. Both are given to loud mouth bragging. They are way to visiable and trying to make it look like they are in charge. Pelosi is even bragging about how she is screwing the American people and trying to cover by saying she doesn’t care. Now there’s a big red flag. They are scared. Both are loose cannons and the real kingpins can’t afford them
