Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has stated that Turkey would by no means let Israel misuse Turkish airspace to carry out intelligence and surveillance missions of a neighboring country, in strongly worded remarks this week.
If Israel were to misuse Turkish airspace to conduct reconnaissance operations on Iran, Ankara's reaction would resemble an "earthquake," Erdogan recently said in an interview when asked about claims that Israel had used Turkey's airspace for purposes of espionage.
"[Israel] will receive a response equal to that of an earthquake," Erdogan was quoted as saying by the English-language Jerusalem Post. Urging Israel's leaders to refrain from "using the relationship they have with [Turkey] as a card to wage aggression on a third party," he underlined that Ankara would not be a neutral party and stand aside with its arms folded.

Do not fly over Turkey.
Fly over the smoking glass crater where Turkey used to be.
Since Turkey is a member of NATO, that would involve a war with all of the other NATO members including The United States.
Yeah, I know... wishful thinking... but it felt good to write that.
Turkey should have gotten the boot from NATO when they refused to let the US use their airspace some years ago.
They were allowed to get away with that.
This is important. If Israel is going to bomb the Iranian nuclear facilities one possible route to Iran is over Syria and along the border between Iraq and Turkey. Not unlikely IMHO.
How far up does a country’s airspace extend? Israel should tell them it’s God’s airspace, not theirs.
Just posturing. I doubt Turkey would really defend this Iranian administration.
But...butt...Turkey halped us SO MUCH when it let us invade Iraq from the North and the 3rd Herd came sweeping down to Baghdad and........
Oops, never happened, did it?
Gone all Muzzie, haven’t they? Saudi $$$ and all that.
Bye bye Turkeyland.
I think the world is tip toeing a little to close to the edge of the abyss! IMO
Turkey is living up to its name. And their Earthquake response, I don’t think so, Israel could turn their country into bottom-feeders in about 20 minutes or so.
For public consumption.
When the Israelis hit the Iraqi reactor, they had the wink and the nod from Saudi Arabia and Jordan.....and public comments like Erdogan’s.
With Israel it seems to be expect the unexpected. In this case who knows what they are planning.
You think Israel should kill 76 million people to facilitate their combat missions?
Thankfully the Israelis are not the monsters you are!
The Ottomans fought Persia tooth and nail for 600 years.
The current Islamist government has surrendered to them without a chirp.
Turkey has really gone over to the dark side.
Uh, yeah. That’ll work with us when China decides to fly over us. Just tell em “Its God’s airspace!” LOL
Yes, I cannot imagine that the Turks are eager/happy to see the Iranians with a nuclear bomb.
NATO is about defending against Russia.
That was the 4th ID that was not allowed transit through Turkey.
I was stunned at the time, that the Admin would even seriously consider it. Either they badly miscalculated , or having a heavy (infantry, armor, artillery) Division floating around in the Med, on the ready, might just help keep honest 'Arabs', honest?
With this latter, I do think I'm be too charitable.
It more appears that the Bush Admin & the Pentagon screwed the pooch when they first thought they could, would be allowed to roll a heavy thru Turkey on the way to make war against an "Islamic" nation.
WTF were they smoking?
Oh, I remember now, tangling with the armchair generals around here, them telling me 'all about' how Turkey owed us, wanted to be part of the EU, and gol' dang it(!) "don't you KNOW ABOUT INCIRLIK?!?"
Turkey used to ba an ally of the West until the islamists took control of Turkish government. Now Turkey supports Syria and Iran.
