That could not have been "explained" because it has not been settled whether an American citizen that is born in the United States is ineligible to be president.
I see threats that unless Palin is the nominee, they will sit out the election. There was a thread earlier that said unless someone was willing to commit to Palin now, they should be purged from the Republican party.
These kinds of threats do nothing to get supporters on board. I do not understand the necessity of having this thing settled 3 years before the election. I'll let you support whomever you want and I ask for patience for those of us who want to take more time.
Your current bizarre prediction is that for some odd reason the clandestine democrat crossover primary voters, instead of voting for some lame candidate like Romney, will instead vote for the GOP candidate that already has the highest support among republicans.
The Democrats I’ve talked to here in MO think Palin is a moron and will bring certain defeat if she runs in 2012, killing off conservatives once and for all...I know that’s anecdotal, but it ties in with the smugness I see on television as well...do you have any Democrat friends or colleagues that think Palin has a chance in the world of being elected President??...magritte

I wouldn’t call it ‘worship’. But yes I do believe that Sarah Palin is front and center right now articulating what the people want: The restoration of America.
The other potential candidates who stand alongside Sarah are people like Michelle Bachmann (who I would support), Fred Thompson (who has no chance), and Jim DeMint (who I support).
You can choose to diminish Palin supporters by accusing them of Obama style ‘worship’ but I choose to call it passion for our future. A lukewarm candidate who is willing to work with progressives to let them inch us further away from our historical foundations just won’t do anymore. Although the leaders in the Republican party seem to think they can continue to play that game.

Please do not misunderstand my position. I like Palin, too and she’s on my list but I am not ready to jump on her bandwagon now. There is too far to go and I resent the hostility of the rabid Palin fans that if someone wants more time, they’re being misquoted and their positions are being misrepresented.
I think the steadfast support for Palin is a reaction to the kingmaker style of politics that allowed the media and the republican party establshment to anoint John McCain as our candidate in 2008. And of course Bob Dole in the 90’s.
In other words the conservative base of the Republican party is saying: Palin or someone better if you can find someone better. But we are done with the namby-pamby politics of personal enrichment at the expense of our future.
Palin has it all. And the inside-the-beltway media & politicians are working overtime to diminish and marginalize her. Good luck with that. It only makes our support for her stronger.
It will probably be two more years before I get on board with someone. Do you not think it possible you may change your mind between now and then?

I am firmly in the Palin for President camp. I don’t care if everyone is on board with that. The process will play itself out. However, the Republican party had better realize that the electorate is in no mood for politics as usual and pre-selected candidates. If they manipulate the process and present us with yet another moderate willing to trade our freedoms for the party’s benefit then they are in for a rude awakening. Because I will not vote for another such person.
Who knows? I could love Obama by then. HA!

The way the dems get people elected is they all get on the band wagon. Conservatives need to do the same but they need to do it for conservatives only and not for McCains and Cantors and Romneys.
And this is the way it should be.
However, I do not feel that the "Republican Party" crammed McCain down our throats. I sincerely believe McCain survived for more than one reason.
I live in Iowa and we are courted by all these campaigns. When a friend of mine went to work for McCain, I let the friend know what I thought of it but he was the last man standing. It wasn't my choice but like I said, he was the last man standing. We had too many candidates and some stayed in too long. I was a Thompson supporter and have never been sorry.
