Eric Cantor (R) dodges question on Palin's qualification (He's scared of Palin)
Is Eric Cantor gay?
Cantor is a wuss... much like the majority of the RINO’s and GOP gang in DC——save for a select few!
We'll see how well he can do over the next few months, but he's still on my short list of politicians to tune out.
In agree, I’ve been very disappointed in him over the past 15 months. The guy I’m watching for from the House is Paul Ryan. Cantor’s been exposed as an overcalculating, finger-to-the-wind establishment guy.
He flat out dumped on her, Cantor just declared war with conservatives.
He’s doing the equivalent of wet finger in the air. He’s just waiting to see whether Sarah is going to fly or fall.
Wrong tactic, I’m sure.
Don’t know if he’s gay, but his nose seemed to grow after every answer he gave.
And this is part of the GOP leadership team that will bring in a fresh new GOP majority.
Good luck with this long nosed clown.
He’s either for us or against us. I am sick of anyone who will either not say Sarah’s qualified or will say she isn’t qualified. Stand up or you won’t be counted. I will not vote for a fence straddler.
Anyone who’s seen Obama in action should not concern themselves too much with Palin or practically any other potential candidate’s qualifications. What everyone needs to pay attention to is the candidate’s positions and whether they have any to begin with. It’s reasonable to be suspicious of someone who comes off as a rich elitist Yaley, a Christianity-averse snot with a past history of radical leftism, but don’t be too quick to put a crown on the next person who claims to be a conservative and just seems just like you. Politicians shouldn’t be awarded power simply because of their perceived good character. No one can get on in life simply by being a good judge of character. That’s a good strategy for getting screwed repeatedly.
Geraldo: Haley Barbor question, is (s)he qualified to be preisent?
Watch the video again. It appears that he thought the question was about Haley Barbour.
He did seem to try to condemn her by comparison with Barbour: “Now Barbour is an example of someone who by contrast is smart and is a leader...”
Uh, no...married with three kids...Canter has a lifetime ACU rating of 96...watch him...he has serious political inside connections for 2012...magritte
Question: The Haley Barbour question, is she qualified to be president, yes or no?
Cantor’s answer: Haley Barbour is um, he, he is an expert, that guy is one of the smartest people that I know, and he is a real leader.
Questioner: And he didn’t answer the question (laughing).
Cantor’s answer: Smiling (in affirmative) silence.
What happened to the Great American Listening Tour? Canter, Jeb Bush, Romney. One time, lame strip mall Pizza joint, staff and a few reporters.
Then, nothing. Zero. Zip. Nada.
Lame. Pathetic. Cowardly. Processed. Bleached.
Southern.
I think he thought he was asked about Barbour.
Exactly. He was AGREEING with Barbour. You can tell just by the rest of the interview and the way he gave fluffy answers to Geraldo’s previous questions regarding Palin’s qualifications. Cantor can’t stand Palin. Maybe he and Romney have a deal that he’ll be Romney’s runningmate or something?
What does Haley Barbour have to do with it? Confusing question, if you ask me.
He screwed up the interview yet he feel the nerve to judge others. If Palin answered like that, there be alot of media coverage on it. Eric Cantor answered stupidly
Sorry. I’m a Palin enthusiast, but I didn’t see the dissing others seem to see in this clip. I wouldn’t characterize his comments as an endorsement, but come on! It’s 2009, the next presidential election is almost three years away. No GOP player is likely to be committing him or herself this early to back Palin or any other candidate. I think Cantor observed Reagan’s command: don’t diss other Republicans. I much prefer his take to some of the “damning with faint praise” comments I’ve heard from the Huckster and Romney.
Question: The Haley Barbour question, is she qualified to be president, yes or no?
Cantors answer: Haley Barbour is um, he, he is an expert, that guy is one of the smartest people that I know, and he is a real leader.
Questioner: And he didnt answer the question (laughing).
Cantors answer: Smiling (in affirmative), silence.
Questioner’s conclusion: Like I said to our friend Mike Huckabee last night, I think that Sarah Palin scares main stream republicans like Eric Cantor and Haley Barbour as much as she scares the democrats.
I disagree with your assessment of the interview.
Not only am I passionate about Palin being the presidential candidate. In my perfect world, Romney, Cantor, and Pawlenty will NOT be the VP candidates either.
The only person at the moment that I consider ideal as a VP candidate for Palin is Bobby Jindal or someone like Michelle Bachmann (that would not be realisitc) honestly just someone else other than the 3 above...
Unfortunately, their fear is not of Sarah Palin herself, but of her being on the ticket in 2012 and being soundly defeated ...they have no confidence in her ability to win...magritte
I was just telling someone about Paul Ryan. I’ve liked every appearance that I’ve seen of him. Can’t say the same for Cantor.
So the guys that cannot even get on the radar, and that don’t have a snowball’s chance, try to say something that silly about the leading republican?
LOL!!
Eric Cantor just failed the test, and he probably doesn’t know it yet.
Just a word to the wise. If you are more afraid of Palin than you are Obama, then you aren’t going to be the one leading the charge against the Obamists. You aren’t cut out for the job. Take some time and work on your real estate license or something; you need to find a new line of work.
The right answer to the question, “is she the one to beat in the Republican Party” is “no. Obama is the one to beat if you’re a citizen with a shred of patriotism.”
The right answer to “is she qualified to be president” is “you need to ask a much more serious question: how did a cipher with no past, no accomplishments, no resume, no paper trail, and no history manage to get himself elected to the White House; and how much more damage is he going to do before we find a way to stop him.”
Or, how about this: “Palin has shown what she’s made of in Alaska, and President Obama is in the process of destroying everything he touches. His qualifications should be the ones that absolutely frighten you to the point of decisive action to save whats left of the republic.”
You don’t become a leader by applying for the job. You become a leader by leading. If I were looking for someone to lead a cavalry charge I’d look for the person who is already leading it. I sure wouldn’t give the job to a guy who toadies up to Geraldo, for pete’s sake.
Magritte, are you serious? You are just as out of touch as they are. With the right VP Candidate (I’m hoping Bobby Jindal of Louisiana, he’s got the right credentials and he adds “diversity” as an Indian-American)
Palin is the ONLY one with the chance of beating Barack Obama. Even swing voters who aren’t that conservative will prefer Palin over to some slick-gel-haired establishment elitist Rino like Romney. Those silent but ever important swing voters at least appreciate voting for someone who is a straight-talker. Someone they know what to expect from even if they’re not on the same page on every issue. I think people underestimate that about Palin.
People underestimate her potential to appeal outside the base over all.
Disgusting...
How hard is it for one of these pathetic cowards to respond, simply: “Certainly, as a former governor, Sarah Palin is more qualified to be president than the current occupant of the White House.”?
EXACTLY marron, and what Palin proves time and time again is that she’s not just looking out for herself (unlike Romney and now Cantor)—she GENUINELY cares about the state of this country. about honoring our military, being a voice for people regardless of what title she holds, etc... Just look at her credentials:
hockey mom to councilman to mayor to governor. she slipped into politics because she CARED about her state, about the people she serves.
Businessmen like Romney and law school grads like Cantor are just ambition-driven politicians who have been preparing to run their whole lives.
AGREED! They are so self-serving! I would vote for Palin over them even if she never was mayor or governor and was just running as a hockey mom.
I think you are misreading it... historically the nominees for Republican president come from the runners-up in the previous cycle...that makes Romney & Huckabee at the top. Losing VP candidates have had no impact historically...based on that, Cantor (who wanted to be McCain’s VP) is looking for a strong candidate to attach to, and in his opinion it is NOT Palin...I think Barbour is keeping his options open, with the same opinion of Palin at this point...magritte
Hey CP...check my #37...not talking about my opinions about the candidates...weighing what’s going on politically in DC now involving Cantor and Barbour...and I am definitely not out touch...Republican machine politics is fairly predictable historically, that’s why this maneuvering seems pretty easy to figure out... magritte
I think that you don’t get it, the choice of republicans is Governor Palin by a wide margin, the establishment cannot keep a strong candidate from sweeping the primaries.
You are wrong in your assessment of Romney and Cantor.

What was with the Elvis ‘do and talking through the gums of his upper teeth? He was even breathing through his teeth a couple of times.
That is what I heard and I was watching Whorealdo on Tivo. Backed it up twice to understand what happened and it was a dodge.
Whatever the hell Whorealdo and brother were reporting on, afterwards, made me change the channel.
Too bad nothing interesting is on. Turned it off.
Your screen name prompted an intriguing thought: Sarah Palin/Condoleeza Rice?
Cantor misread the question. If she is older than 35, native born and a resident for 14 years, then she is qualified. Having executive experience and being a former VP candidate makes her uniquely qualified.
you may be in touch with history and the the republican machine—but i feel that you, barbour, and cantor are out of touch with the sentiments of this country and underestimate Palin’s ability to win without the establishment’s help. she broke the GOP machine cycle on tiny-baby scale in Alaska. she is capable of doing it on a bigger stage.
As I said previously, I’m commenting on the politics...Palin may very well win the Republican nomination...because Obama will have little Democrat opposition in 2012, there will be a lot of primary crossover...the question will be, will crossover DEMs vote for Palin because they think she’s an easy mark, or will the push for another candidate because they think she can win...?? magritte
Add Eric Cantor to the list of RINOs who need to lose their next primaries.
I don’t trust Cantor. He leans to being a RINO.
ADDITIONALLY, I don’t think people realize HOW bad the election would have turned out for McCain had Palin not been on his ticket. Palin brought out a bunch of people from the base that might not have otherwise voted at all.
There were some independent voters who didn’t vote based on the Couric-Tina Fey garbage—but those people were already leaning towards Obama anyway, even if they had taken an initial liking to Sarah.
I don’t care what history has shown so far. History changes. The GOP establishment is kidding themseleves if they think the BASE will just vote for anyone who’s not Obama and has an “R” next to their name. That’s not true. Many will either not vote at all or vote 3rd party. The anger conservatives have towards Rinos is equal to (if not more heated) than the anger people have towards Obama.
I can already see the tagline Romney and Cantor will use against her “She resigned as governor.” “She has no experience.” —well Romney’s main accomplishment as governor was a failed socialist healthcare experiment and Cantor hasn’t shown hismelf to be too impressive in challenging the Pelosi-Reid machine either. Palin on the other hand coined “Death Panels” with her facebook note and has done more against the Climate CHange liars with her WaPo Op-Ed than any of them have ever done in their careers.
