Billion people's water at risk from melting ice: Gore

COPENHAGEN — Climate guru Al Gore warned UN climate talks Monday that record melting of Polar and Himalayan ice could deprive deprive more than a billion people's access to clean water.

Adding to an avalanche of bad scientific news over the last two years, the former US vice president cited new research showing that the Arctic ice cap may have shrunk to record-low levels last year.

"2008 had a smaller minimum, probably, than 2007," Gore said at the release of a report he co-sponsored with the Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Store, called Melting Snow and Ice: A call for Action.

"These figures are fresh, I just got them yesterday," Gore said, alluding to work led by Wieslaw Maslowski of the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.

"These figures are fresh, I just got them yesterday,"

That's not all that is fresh that you are throwng around and spreading all over the place.

Besides, we've heard all about climate figures and where they derive over the last few weeks. Jig's up Gore, stick a sock in it.

You and your ilk are the antithesis of everything that America stands for and represents.

“... a global sea level rise of about a metre by year’s end,....”

That’s what the article says. A 3 foot rise in sea levels in the next few weeks, displacing 100 million people!

These articles are such BS.

Gore talks about the seasonal melting of arctic sea ice, which people do NOT drink but then he says 1 billion people rely on melting ice and they will have no water!

IF the seasonal melt is so drastic and reverses the region from reflecting 85% of sun to absorbing 85%, then why are we getting cooler and not drastically hotter?

Finally, I love Gore’s statement that 2008 “probably” saw less ice than 2007. And the shifting of the measure from the extent of the sea ice to a supposedly lesser volume.

I guess 100 foot thick ice magically reflects more light than 80 foot thick ice.

Of course! The 3-million-degree earth's core will evaporate all the water!

The melting of the Himalyan glaciers in question feed the rivers providing water to millions in otherwise arid areas. If this stops they don’t get water. If it accereated too much they would flood. But that has not happened.

CENSORED

Option one, tar, feathers and a rail
Option two, an ice flow with him on it.

Most con men run and hide after their scam is revealed, this one wants to milk it for every last drop. I guess there are still fools out there who need to be separated from their money.

"I’ll steel a line from the FR Darwinists: You’re the type of wacko that makes conservatives look bad. I’m serious, that line get’s thrown around a bunch by those guys."

They throw that line around, yet the majority of conservatives reject evolution. Even only 50% of the democrats embrace evolution.
